Chapter 8 - Agimus Last Wish

Paul walked into the lab, Mira, Juno and Dex following shortly after. once the two had entered the lab, the doors closed shut. Dex had some questions about the technology, and he couldn't help but express his concerns. "If you guys don't accept bionics here, then where exactly did you get this advanced technology and machinery?" Dex questioned, raising an eyebrow.

Juno looked over at Dex; he had a good point. The spirit gifted society was all magic wielders. "Hey, um sir." Juno asked, looking over at Paul, who was still trying to think of an answer for Dex earlier question.

"You all must keep in mind, the power of bionics come from a Spirit Gifted, therefore, we have ways of still being able to access such an ability. In this case, it was likely the power of one of the elders. if you want to know how this was done, ask them." Paul finally replied to Dex and then shifted his gaze over to Juno.

"And yes... Cynth...?" Paul said, responding to Juno.

Dex raised an eyebrow, having heard what Paul called Juno, he was about to ask what that word meant, but Mira had said something before he could. "Alright, Paul why are we at the lab?" Mira questioned. shifting Paul's attention to her.

A visible frown appeared on Juno's face, she had a question to ask, but now that would have to wait.

"Those two will have to leave the lab, can you take them to the sanctuary?" Paul asked Mira, and she nodded.

Mira walked over to one of the lab doors, and it opened automatically, she then walked through, Juno and Dex following closely behind her. they eventually came to a giant glass dome and Juno watched Mira put in a code.

little did she know, this would be a code she would need to remember later.

once the door creaked open, Mira walked into the dome, and Juno and Dex followed suit. once they were in the dome, Mira walked out, leaving them there.

"Now what?" Dex asked, crossing his arms in annoyance.

Juno shrugged and looked around the area, it was mostly full of greenery, but in the center was a giant statue of a man with a bow and arrow. Dex had walked off somewhere else, leaving Juno standing there.

Juno then decided to walk over to the large statue of the man, once she got close enough, she looked down at the engraved letters on the statue. Bending down, she brushed her fingers across the engraving's. "Agimus?" she looked confused. extremely confused. "Agimus...Virella?!"

"So, what did you want to talk about Paul?" Mira asked, leaning back against one of the counters in the lab, her arms crossed. "Mira, the leaders are thinking about making a move early, they think if we can take out Dorian's forces now, then he'd be too weak to defend during a big battle. we have all the forces we need; they just want to know what you think only because you have seen the forces firsthand." Paul explained.

Mira sighed, leaning back against the console and crossing her arms. "As much as I feel he should be taken out, I honestly don't think it's wise to at this moment. Though, even with my input, the leaders have the final say, and my opinion is still merely just that. An opinion."

Paul nodded and sighed; he understood Mira's worry. The counsel always asked her for her input, but never actually listened. She felt like there was no reason for it if they weren't going to listen to her.

"Well, we can never be entirely sure if they might or might not listen this time, give it a try Mira." Paul said with a shrug. "Fine, it's not like my input will change anything anyway. Damien has been in power for years, if we wanted to take him out, we would first, need a whole army just to face him according to what the leaders are saying his second power is." Mira relented.

"Well, we do have someone as strong or even stronger than him here now. Elder Serathi's son, Jonis. he could deal with Damien easily." Paul said, but Mira knew better. "The council underestimates him... he took out Serathi in the past, what makes you think he can't take down Jonis." Mira said, crossing her arms.

"I can't debate with you on this; we left those two newcomers at the sanctuary, and they need to be monitored." Paul replied, deciding not to continue the ongoing conversation.

he looked over at the doors and walked towards them before stopping and turning to Mira. "I will tell the council what you suggested, there is a chance they might change their minds." he said, before walking out.

Mira let out a heavily annoyed sigh and began to walk to the door she had come from after dropping Juno and Dex off at the sanctuary.

 ______

Juno brushed her fingers over the last name next to Agimus, things we're starting to get even more confusing. Agimus was related to her, but then if that were the case, why did nobody recognize her ask some descendant of his? Surely someone had to notice or realize that her last name was the same as his. Of course, that is unless they had no records of her existence before she'd arrived here. But if that was the case, they how come they had lured her to Cyffle, claiming to be a normal restaurant in a busy town? Had they been watching her this whole time? But if so... Why? What about her was so important that they had to watch her but didn't know a thing about her?

"Juno! There you are!" Mira said, Jolting Juno out of her thoughts. "It's time to go, I'm going to take you to where you're going to stay while your here" Mira continued.

Juno turned her head left and right, looking around the place. That was when she'd come to realize, Dex was nowhere to be seen. She opened her mouth to say something but decided against it, the sanctuary was a dome and guarded securely. There was no way either of them was going to just be able to walk right out.

Plus, if he was able to, Dex was smart enough to know what he was doing. Juno didn't want to remind Mira that he in fact, still existed. "Wherever you are Dex, please don't do anything that would get us in trouble." was all Juno could think in that moment.

 ______

If Juno knew where Dex was at the moment, she would need a better word than 'confused' to describe how she would feel about the situation he was in.

currently, Dex was outside of the sanctuary. but he was in a room that was built long ways, with a table that was also long. Chairs lined the sides of the table, leaving perfect spaces between them, and each chair had a symbol on it. There was a total of 19 seats at the table, and it was decorated with a silk tablecloth that had a golden shine to it, plates sat in front of each chair, leaving space between themselves, just like the chairs. then the silverware was set in a particular order, teaspoon and fork on the left, knife and tablespoon in the right. then there were round goblets each made of different unique materials. A single marking etched into them.

aside from the table's decor, the room itself was dressed in hanging lights and plants alike, with a giant white board on the wall. making a wild guess, Dex had a feeling, this was the meeting room for the leaders of the spirit gifted society. he needed to find a way out of this place, because if this was the meeting room then the last thing he needed was to be caught in there.

the funny thing was, he didn't exactly know how he got there, the last thing he remembered was that he found a scroll outside the sanctuary garden and picked it up. it was far different from advanced tech they had today, but it had magical properties that he'd never heard of before. apparently, the scroll had been there the whole time, but only people it deemed trustworthy would be able to see it. when he picked the scroll up, and had read it, it told him to speak some random words, which he did. and that was how he ended up where he was.

part of him wished he never touched it, because then how would he get back to Juno? and even worse, where was he, and why did the scroll see him as trusted?

he wanted to think on it more, when the doors to the large room opened, and in walked a bunch of people he had never seen before. and some of them, he wasn't sure he could even call them people.

the group of people who walked in, were a total of nineteen people, four of which were women, the rest were men or what one would refer to as other. they all sat down in their seats and from there, began their talk. "So, what is this meeting about again?" one of the women asked, she had tentacles on her back but also human arms and legs. she had eyes on the sides of her head, like an octopus. "This meeting is about Agimus and his last wish." the tall man at the head of the table said, he had long, red hair. and the eyes of a hunter. now that Dex looked around more, he noticed that names were written on the walls, portraits of these people.

Walking closer to one in particular, it was a photo of Serathi. instantly, Dex turned his head to look at the table, his eyes landing on the man with red hair. this was when he realized. none of them could see him, this was because he had traveled to the past somehow.

but now he had so many questions, and perhaps, he would get more answers than he bargained for.
