(Isabella's POV)
The silence that followed Clara's confession was sharp enough to draw blood but it also wasn't that surprising since id already suspected it from the moment I stepped foot into her room.
Yvette's breathing came ragged, her fists trembling at her sides. I could feel the heat radiating from her anger, but I… I felt nothing.
Not fury.
Not disbelief.
Just this strange, hollow clarity, like standing inside the eye of a storm and realizing that peace wasn't calm...it was numbness.
I met Clara's gaze and said, very softly, "How long?"
She blinked. "What?"
"How long have you been sleeping with him?"
There was no quiver in my voice. No rage. Just a steady curiosity that seemed to throw her off more than any shouting ever could.
Clara's lips twitched, and then almost proudly she said, "A while."
Her voice dripped with that subtle, poisonous smugness that only comes from someone who thinks they've finally won.
