Chapter 58: The Letter That Never Came
(Isabella's POV)
"How about we ask Yvette if she received any letter from Clara, I think that's the best thing to do right now." Alex said to me.
He said it like it was simple, as if the answer was waiting neatly behind a locked door, and all I had to do was knock. And as if the door is it opened on a wrong path wouldn't shatter me.But it wasn't that easy.
Still, Alex was right. We...no, I needed to know.
After school, the corridors felt unusually loud, laughter echoing off the walls, footsteps rushing toward the dorms. I walked slower, each step heavy with the weight of what I was about to ask.
When I reached Yvette's door, I could already hear music playing faintly from inside. A bass line, rhythmic and sharp, the kind of song she used when she was trying not to think.
I opened the door and walked in. Her classes ended earlier than mine did so she was already in the room.
