Chapter 245 - Chapter 245: Upgrading the Fountain of Fair Fortune—Let’s Do This!

Twilight was deepening, the last rays of sunlight slipping behind the mountain ridge as the lights of Beauxbatons flickered on one by one.

A cold wind swept through the grounds, and the winding paths were nearly empty.

Only the softly glowing magical street lamps and little clusters of ice-crystal fairies trailing shimmering tails of light outlined a quiet, serene night scene—so different from the dazzling splendor of daytime.

Fleur pulled her gradually silvering long hair tighter around her shoulders, dutifully playing tour guide as she led Lucien on a leisurely stroll around campus, pointing out one elegant building and garden after another.

"This way is the Giant's Garden," Fleur said, gesturing to one side.

Following her hand, Lucien took in a breathtaking landscape.

Everything here seemed designed for giants: in the center of an enormous marble fountain, a leaping dolphin statue was nearly the size of a small cottage, its cascading water catching the lights like a flowing curtain of crystal.

The flowers in the garden were as big as dinner plates, filling the air with an intensified, crisp sweetness.

Along the curving paths sat massive, polished stone benches carved with intricate patterns of stars and moons—each one big enough to comfortably seat five or six people side by side.

When Lucien and the Hogwarts group had first arrived at Beauxbatons, they'd only followed Madame Maxime along one set route and hadn't explored the whole grounds.

The past couple of days, Lucien had either been sitting in classes, buried in the Beauxbatons library, or holed up in his suitcase world tinkering with the magical version of a mobile phone and figuring out how to upgrade the Fountain of Fair Fortune…

He really hadn't had a proper chance to wander the campus yet.

Beauxbatons was full of beautiful fountains and little gardens, and before they knew it, they'd ended up back in front of the Fountain of Fair Fortune.

Clear water rippled with broken shards of light under the magical lamps, and at the center stood the serene, affectionate statue of Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel.

Fleur let out a soft laugh, her tone knowing and just a touch teasing.

"This one… I probably don't need to introduce, right?"

Lucien nodded, quickly scanning the area—perfect, no one else around.

Time for some magical engineering. Go!

He drew his wand, and at the same moment, several containers of different sizes and materials flew out of his pocket in a neat line, hovering quietly beside the fountain.

Fleur blinked in surprise at the sudden move, but a "reasonable" guess quickly popped into her head.

She tilted her head and asked, "Lucien, did some friends back at Hogwarts ask you to bring them a little fountain water?"

"Yep," Lucien answered shortly, his eyes already locked on the water.

Fleur actually wanted to point out that the fountain's water wasn't nearly as miraculous as the rumors made it sound—it was great for cleansing, could make skin a bit fairer and softer, but it wouldn't actually make anyone more beautiful.

Then again, since Lucien was Nicolas Flamel's own student, he probably already knew that. She figured he was mostly just doing a favor for his friends.

So she stayed quiet and watched what he was doing.

With a flick of his wrist, hundreds of faintly glowing ancient runes poured from the tip of his wand.

They weren't random—they flew in perfect order toward every key point of the Fountain of Fair Fortune: the patterns on the pool's walls, the base of the statue, even the flowing columns of water themselves—then silently sank in.

The next instant—buzz—

A deep, resonant hum of magic filled the air.

The entire fountain, from the pool floor to the statue, lit up in an instant with dazzling, circuit-like patterns!

Intense, orderly magical light replaced the gentle glow of the lamps, turning the whole area bright as day.

Then, reflected in Fleur's suddenly wide eyes, the massive fountain—which should have been firmly rooted in the ground—lifted smoothly into the air, water and all, hovering in midair!

The water kept circulating, even moving more gracefully thanks to the precise magical control, without spilling a single drop.

Crack—crack-crack-crack…

A rapid series of sharp, clear sounds rang out—like ice breaking or machinery coming apart.

Right in front of Fleur, the glowing outline of the floating fountain suddenly split open!

It just… cracked apart!!!

Stone, metal, water, magical patterns…

Everything broke down into hundreds—thousands—of neat, separate pieces, like a giant, complicated 3D puzzle being instantly taken apart. Each fragment hung exactly where it belonged, held in perfect dynamic balance by threads of colorful magic flowing between them.

Fleur's mind went completely blank for several seconds. The sheer shock left her momentarily speechless.

Then, a high-pitched, incredulous shriek finally burst out, echoing sharply through the quiet Beauxbatons night:

"You—you just took the Fountain of Fair Fortune apart?!"
