Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: For the Sake of Those I Love

"Regarding the trainer, I already have my own ideas."

Celestial Weave looked directly into Isami Mai's eyes and stated her terms. This wasn't an excuse but a pre-confirmed plan. Every time she completed a scenario mission, it resulted in a leap in her abilities. Even Tokai Teio had noticed the change in her speed before; a trainer she spent every day with would naturally be even more aware. To avoid unnecessary trouble, she had already decided to find a trainer in her next scenario mission.

The same thing that happened in the last scenario world can't possibly happen again, right?

This small condition was a relief to Isami Mai. It was a good thing for her daughter to have her own ideas. All she wanted was to ensure she didn't walk down that tragic path again.

"Alright. But I will hire a dedicated medical team to monitor your condition. If your body can't handle the training load, you must stop." No matter how dazzling the brilliance she pursued, she had to stop. Her being alive was Isami Mai's greatest hope.

"I understand." Celestial Weave nodded. She couldn't stop her from doing this either.

"Then... is it decided?" They looked at each other for a few seconds, and then Celestial Weave suddenly laughed. "It's all good things to help me, so why is the atmosphere so tense, like a negotiation?"

Hearing this, Isami Mai's mood also gradually relaxed. She smiled faintly. "Maybe I was afraid someone was being too stubborn."

"Is that how you see me?"

"Aren't you?"

As they were talking, a waiter had already brought their food to the table. "Let's eat first. You must be tired of the Tracen cafeteria food," Isami Mai said with a smile, handing her her plate.

"The cafeteria is pretty good. The carrot hamburg steak is nice." Celestial Weave didn't really feel anything about her words. For her, the cafeteria food was already delicious enough. After saying that, she took the plate and began to focus on the food in front of her.

Isami Mai didn't rush to eat. Instead, she rested her chin on her hands and watched her daughter eat with a smile. After a while, having finished her meal, Celestial Weave wiped her mouth with a napkin, looked up, and saw her mother watching her. "Aren't you eating?" she asked, a bit confused.

"I'm past my growing phase. Maintaining your figure is very difficult, you know." Saying that, she passed her own plate to her. As an active horse girl, she of course didn't have to worry about maintaining her figure. She shrugged and took the extra plate of food.

"By the way, since I'll be hiring professional caregivers to take care of your mother, you don't need to live near the hospital anymore, right?"

"Do you want to come live with me? My house is quite big," she said casually as she watched her eat. Letting her live in that place filled with the aura of death always gave her a bad feeling.

Hearing this, Celestial Weave immediately put down her knife and fork. "No, thank you."

"Why? Even living in the dorms would be more convenient than living there, wouldn't it?"

She wiped her mouth with a napkin and, after a moment of contemplation, said slowly, "Everyone there has helped me a lot..."

"Without them, I wouldn't have made it this far."

Even though it was just a shabby little building, the dorm mother and the tenants had done their best to provide her with the best living conditions. Not only did they rent her the largest room with a kitchen and bathroom at a very cheap price, but they would also often bring her freshly cooked meals. During those days when she was desperately training for the Tracen entrance exam, it was because of their help that she didn't collapse from malnutrition halfway through. To put it more dramatically, without those meals, she might not have even made it to her debut race.

For these terminally ill tenants, her desperate running was the best spiritual comfort. Watching her take step after step towards an almost impossible goal, everyone felt a sense of hope themselves. Even if every day could be their last, they wanted to welcome her with their best selves. In this small building filled with despair and pain, she had, in a sense, become the proof that they had lived.

She knew this. So even with Isami Mai's help, she didn't want to leave. She didn't want to betray everyone's expectations of her.

"I see... Alright then." Isami Mai didn't try to persuade her further. For her daughter, there were some things that others could not change, no matter what. This was one of them.

"It's getting late. I'll take you home first." Looking at the now-empty plates, she smiled and waved the car keys in her hand.

A while later, when the expensive-looking car pulled up in front of the small building, the dorm mother, who was waiting for her to come home, looked over with a puzzled expression. It wasn't until Celestial Weave got out of the car, waved at the window, and walked towards her that a smile appeared on her face. "Welcome back. Was that your trainer just now?"

"She's a friend of my mother's. She just treated me to a meal."

Hearing her words, the dorm mother's expression was inexplicably a little disappointed. Seeing the white steam coming from the small room, Celestial Weave clutched her stomach and said, feigning embarrassment, "But the portions at that place were too small. I'm not full at all."

A joyful light appeared in the dorm mother's eyes. She said slowly, "Oh my, you are a growing girl, after all. I just happened to make some extra food today. Come on in and fill your tummy!" With that, she pulled her into her small room.

Half an hour later, she smiled and said goodbye to the old woman. After leaving the room, she immediately let out a breath, rubbing her noticeably larger stomach as she trudged back to her room. "The dorm mother's love is really heavy."

Sitting on her bed, she gave a helpless, wry smile. "But it's because it's so heavy that I can't let her down."

The medical bills were solved. She had unexpectedly become friends with Saint-King Halo and the others. And after talking with Isami Mai, her mind was clear. She knew that the time for her next scenario mission had arrived.

To not let down her mother's love, to not let down everyone's love, her rest time was over. To become an even more brilliant horse girl, she decided to enter her second scenario mission.
