Chapter 29 - Sebastian Grey

Tsunami was slowly regaining consciousness, his body aching all over.

'Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!'

'Ah! it hurts... '

'What happened?... And whose voice is that?'

He rubbed his head with one hand while the other was poking around to assess the situation.

'Err... isn't this Pearl?'

'Wait!'

His eyes widened and finally opened in surprise.

"Pearl can talk?"

"..."

Tsunami was truly surprised because, when they were discussing their plan earlier, Pearl was feeding his mind with various black-and-white images to answer his questions or offer her suggestions.

There was never a verbal response from her.

Excited, Tsunami adjusted his position... but when his gaze met Pearl's, he was met with such an intense glare that his soul's heart skipped a beat for a second.

BADUM!

"..."

The glare was so intense that the event's memories washed over him like a flood, forcing his battle memories to resurface.

'Fuck!'

He tried to get himself up, but it was still too painful.

"Arghhh!"

He looked around, then up... when he saw the figures talking and arguing, his eyes widened even more.

"Shit!"

His gaze immediately shifted to Pearl, who was still glaring at him... Now, understanding her look.

He forced out a dry cough before speaking.

"It won't happen again"

"Let me check if I have any life force left, to activate my eyes one more time."

As he assessed his soul, his eyes widened again, before knitting his brows, his shock way more than before.

"This—"

He immediately looked around to find any dead bodies, but found none.

"..."

He had every right to be confused, for the vibrant life force at his disposal was way richer and more abundant than all the life force he acquired after the death of the three cyclones.

Alarmed and panicked, he stared at Pearl with an uneasy premonition.

"You did not—a—are you okay?"

Pearl's gaze softened a bit before she shook her head.

Tsunami felt pained by the sacrifices Pearl had made, and with a worried face, he immediately activated his eyes.

He didn't know the exact price Pearl paid to offer him so much life force, but something huge was definitely sacrificed.

They had to escape first, at all costs... no matter what.

Since those people in the sky were busy arguing, there was still hope.

He waved his right hand and summoned his system, going straight to his attributes.

***

Attributes: [spirit walker] [God's Favourite] [Iron rod] [Eyes of truth]

***

He immediately willed the [spirit walker] attribute, his four pupils rotating at insane speeds.

***

[Spirit walker] description: [ During the Absolute Beginning, a time known as the era of the God Kings, humans were brought to the brink of extinction. The last human born of a mother was named Madelyn— a girl, a cripple, and blind. Her birth was meant to bring hope to the rest of her kind, but the heavens were too harsh. In retaliation, she began altering her own strings of fate. Madelyn dared to challenge the heavens. And so, just like that, a child born in darkness embraced the absence of light and traversed the void. She found a group of warriors and gathered followers. As her power grew and the void obeyed her commands, she… (ACCESS DENIED)]

Tsunami was slightly surprised by the weird notification at the end of the description, but then again, he knew that this was the first time he had read one of his attributes with his eyes activated.

As of now, he was fully aware of the hidden dangers that came from seeing what he wasn't meant to see, so he didn't try to force it.

Instead, he focused his eyes on the short description carefully— his eyes passing on all the information about [spirit walker] within the bounds of his limits to his mind.

...

In the sky, the arguments continued.

...

"Stop being reckless, Sebastian!"

"It could be a trap."

The senior elder reprimanded the young man in a solemn voice for making hasty moves as he moved to block him.

Something that Sebastian and the woman beside him didn't appreciate at all.

Ever since Sebastian was a kid, he grew up with a golden spoon and always got whatever he wanted from both his sect and clan.

And this time, it wasn't going to be any different.

Be it fame, power, artifacts, women, or treasures, they were all meant to be his... and he believed it.

If he couldn't have it, then he would kill for it.

This got way worse when the patriarch and the high-ranking elders of the Severing Sect knew his identity.

A member and heir of the Grey Clan.

The most powerful non-human Favourite clan on their star system- G3d.

And although they currently had human appearances, it was merely for convenience during travelling.

...

Wanting to curry favour with the Grey clan, most high-ranking elders of the Severing sect didn't bat an eye whenever Sebastian wronged other disciples.

He was even known to harass the low-ranking elders, without facing any backlash from the disciplinary committee.

Women avoided the Severing Sect like a plague. Men with beautiful partners all ended up dead, all because of Sebastian Grey.

...

'Old bastard, the day I take over the sect, I'll make an example out of you.'

Sebastian turned to look at the senior elder with an appeasing smile, his thoughts of betrayal carefully hidden.

"Senior, aren't you worrying too much?"

"If they had a backing as you fear, then how can you explain their current state?"

He let go of the woman's waist and approached the senior elder, placing his hand on the elder's shoulder, like some close buddies, not minding the seniority at all.

"Elder Bao, we've been here for almost a minute now, and no one is showing up. Have you forgotten that we weren't the only ones who saw the Dark Moons? If we keep lingering here, then it won't matter whether they have a backing or not... someone stronger than us will definitely appear."

Sebastian let go of elder Bao's shoulder and pointed at the two figures below.

"How about this?"

He removed a divine treasure from his storage ring, causing surprised looks from the other three elders.

"This divine treasure was given to me by the Patriarch, and it is a saint-level artifact which I believe can seal that drop of blood."

"Let's take those two alive and contact the patriarch just in case. That way, even if we offend some bigshot, it wouldn't be too much, and in case they are unreasonable, they will have to think twice before offending an Angel."

"If that True God values them as you fear, then you can just use my clan's name to scare them away."

"How does that sound, Elder Bao?"

Sebastian stared at the blood drop, unwilling to let such a heaven-granted opportunity pass.

The other three elders nodded and praised the young master for his meticulous thoughtfulness, but Elder Bao didn't share the same sentiment.

Although Sebastian's plan was reasonable, in the cultivation world, there was no justification for offending a True God.

One misstep and their entire star system would be reduced to rubble.

But that drop of truly tempting

'What if they are outcasts and we miss this chance, what if they are important individuals where they come from?'

Elder Bao took his communication jade and transmitted the information back to the sect.

After a moment of silence from the other end, an authoritative voice gave two commands to the elders.

"Take it. Bring them in... alive."

Elder Bao sighed in defeat when he heard this, and just as he was about to move to capture the hostages, Tsunami completed the void embrace formation... his hands moving in fast, complex patterns, causing their bodies to burn with a black fire, before their figures disappeared from the onlookers' shocked gazes.

"..."

...

Unbeknownst to the six figures, far above them in the sky, two figures had always been watching, and they couldn't even sense their presence.
