During my incarceration by my mate, I see a man leaning against the wall of the dungeon with his arms and legs coiled with heavy iron chains. Dressed only in tattered rags of a black robe his ghostly white skin is mostly on display.

Deep red like the freshly spilt blood, such rich shade, and they stare directly at me with such intensity that I forget to breathe.

My world shatters at his words. 
"You can see me?” He asks next, a voice calmer and yet deeper than Mariana Trench. It whispers all around me, murmuring against my skin as if trying to awaken something sleeping.

"No one else can," he answers with a wounded smile that wrecks my heart. 

Synopsis: 

In this post-apocalyptic world, Faes are hunted and killed mercilessly because they are blamed for the apocalypse that befell and destroyed half of the population.
At 20, Amaia Zhāng is a Fae and is the last of her kind, or so she thinks. Her family and her whole village were massacred by the Dread Army in the name of keeping peace. She is the sole survivor and keeps her appearance cloaked.

“I will bring a garland constructed from your ex-mate's bones. How dare he hurt you?” Determination flashes in the eyes of Rigel, her fourth mate.

The aftermath of Jamina's death hits everyone hard. A special ceremony is held in the Academy in her remembrance where Headmaster Fallon, other professors and recruits from Guild Serpen give speeches. 


We light candles and pay homage to her by singing her favourite songs. 


Strangely, Alnilam doesn't attend the ceremony. I hardly see him anymore apart from the sessions. 


Cristo sits beside me and appears heartbroken. Jamina was not only his Guildmaster but also his favourite professor. His eyes are swollen red from crying. 


"I still can't believe she is gone," he sniffles. Alnitak pats his back while I hold back my tears. 


After the ceremony, Saiph is announced as the new Guildmaster of House Serpen. A new professor who was also Alnilam and Jamina's guildmate and fought with them during the battle is hired for "Chemistry and Biology of Elixirs."
