"Are you two alright?"
Claire asked with concern, looking at Li Qingyuan, who could barely stand, and Jill Valentine, who was covering her face.
They were fine yesterday—so why did they both look half-dead today?
"We're fine, really!" Li Qingyuan weakly replied, glancing at Jill with some frustration.
This woman is way too petty. She hasn't done anything herself, yet she's already piling guilt onto me.
Since separating from Claire until just now, neither of them had slept—they'd been too busy arguing!
A continuous verbal clash lasting over ten hours had left them in this state.
"Really fine?" Claire looked at the two odd figures in front of her. There was no way she could honestly call this "fine."
"Steamed delicacies, punishments!"
Jill muttered something unintelligible, trembling.
True, with her constitution, she couldn't reason with certain people, but everyone knew that reasoning ultimately depended on who had the sharper tongue.
In this aspect, Li Qingyuan clearly wasn't on her level.
"So, where are we heading now?" Claire, sitting in the driver's seat, asked enthusiastically.
"You drive however you want. I'll take a nap first!" Li Qingyuan said listlessly and then crawled into the rear bedroom.
"I'm exhausted too!" Jill admitted. If she hadn't forced herself to stay awake, she would have collapsed long ago.
Soon, the back of the vehicle echoed with deafening snores.
Claire shook her head helplessly and began to drive, smiling wryly.
She was fully aware of the subtle tension between Jill and Li Qingyuan, but there was no way she'd interfere.
Besides, Claire found Jill's pettiness somewhat irritating.
"I mean, you treat that man like a treasure, and I'm young, beautiful, and perfect. Why would I ever compete with you for him?"
Sigh… she really overthinks things.
Of course, this kind of remark could never be voiced aloud—saying it would offend both of them.
"Where are we now?" Claire felt herself nodding off, but Li Qingyuan and Jill had finally awakened.
"We've entered California. According to the map, there's also an Umbrella Corporation base in Los Angeles."
Most Umbrella bases' locations were in Bai Hou's database, so Claire had simply chosen the nearest one.
"You don't really plan to have the three of us attack the Los Angeles base, do you?" Li Qingyuan's eyes widened in disbelief.
How had someone with her intelligence survived so long?
"Why not? Didn't the three of us take down the Las Vegas base?" Claire confidently brushed her golden hair, clearly feeling proud.
"Very problematic!" Li Qingyuan exclaimed. Seeing her so lost in past victories, he knew she had become overconfident.
It was normal, though—just like the world's heroine Alice, who, after gaining her clone army and psychokinetic powers, became overconfident and attacked every base like a whirlwind, cutting down anyone in her way.
Then… well, never mind.
"Do you really think Umbrella is made of clay? If that fool Isaacs hadn't tried his 'trap in a jar' trick last time, we wouldn't have even gotten through the front door!" Li Qingyuan shook his head. He couldn't allow Claire's prideful attitude to persist.
Charging with guns from the front gate all the way to the control room might look stylish, like a scene from an action blockbuster—but one wrong step and you could die instantly. Even Alice, with her world-level protagonist aura, didn't survive unscathed—just look at her current designation: eighty-seven.
"So what do you suggest?" Claire asked, realizing he had a point.
"Turn around. Head to Tennessee—we need to upgrade our weapons!" Li Qingyuan had already planned this strategy yesterday, but Jill had insisted on debating with him, so he hadn't had the chance to reveal it.
"Tennessee? You mean the Army's nuclear base?" Both Jill and Claire, violent women by nature, knew what Tennessee hid and asked in surprise.
"Exactly. There are at least a hundred nuclear warheads in that base. One strike, and we still have plenty left!" Li Qingyuan folded his hands and smiled kindly.
Umbrella's top brass had originally considered using nuclear weapons to wipe out humanity, but worried about irreversible ecological damage, they opted for the T-virus instead.
But he didn't care about the environmental consequences of nuclear weapon misuse!
Umbrella sought a perfect world without the lower class. He only needed to leave survivors with a barely livable space.
Yes, nuclear misuse would damage the environment, but for survivors struggling to live, it was a choice between slightly lower temperatures or being eaten by zombies. The answer was obvious.
Besides, Umbrella bases were deeply buried underground, limiting environmental impact if detonated.
"You plan to find the entrance and just throw in the nukes?" Jill and Claire both gasped, eyes wide with shock.
"Exactly. The three of us cannot make any mistakes. Attacking their home turf directly is a death sentence. This is the safest method!"
Just imagine: the base's directors setting traps inside, waiting to kill intruders, while we simply toss a nuke at their front door and walk away. Perfect.
The two women exchanged glances, seeing both shock and agreement reflected in each other's eyes. They nodded, backing Li Qingyuan's insane plan.
For world-ending villains like Umbrella, no moral code mattered—you just acted decisively.
"But we don't know the location of the Tennessee nuclear base!" One immediate problem remained.
"No worries. There should still be people there. We can figure it out once we arrive," Li Qingyuan said confidently.
Although using the compass would likely pinpoint the base, he didn't want Claire to know.
Given her brother-complex, she'd definitely try to bring her brother along if she had it.
Better to leave Chris in prison.
