Pointing at the crack ahead, Li Qingyuan said to Isaacs.
"You promised to guarantee my safety," Isaacs said nervously as he stared at the dark fissure.
Earlier, after some negotiation, someone had sworn an oath: as long as Isaacs handed over control of the base, his personal safety would be guaranteed, and he would even be given a helicopter to leave the place.
Isaacs, who had originally planned to release the poison gas and die together with the intruders, thought about it carefully and finally agreed.
After all, no one can truly embrace death when there's still hope to survive.
Besides, Isaacs found a justification for himself: even if he released the gas, there was no guarantee he could kill all the intruders. Since the base would be lost anyway, he might as well copy the crucial data. Even if the base was gone, at least he would have accomplished something.
As for detonating a nuclear bomb to destroy the entire base?
Sorry, the Umbrella subsidiary didn't yet have such a "sacrifice a thousand to kill one" weapon installed.
Installing mini nuclear bombs in every base for self-destruction? That situation wouldn't appear for several years—especially after Alice destroyed half of Umbrella's attack bases.
No one casually installs self-destruct mechanisms for fun. Umbrella is a pharmaceutical company, not a terrorist organization!
Though what they did often felt far worse than what a terrorist would do…
"Go in. If I wanted to kill you, would I bother with all this?" Li Qingyuan pushed him impatiently, sending Isaacs, who was still about to argue, straight into the crack.
This fissure was the hole they had just blown. Inside was the interlayer between the base and the mountainside.
After over ten minutes, Li Qingyuan came back alone.
"Did you kill him?" Jill, guarding the fissure entrance, jumped up and asked anxiously.
She had insisted earlier that Isaacs must die, still believing the monster killed by the explosion was her friend Alice.
But under Li Qingyuan's insistence, she had to suppress her anger and hadn't shot the clone directly.
"No. I let him go!" Li Qingyuan certainly didn't intend to kill Isaacs' clone. He also revealed to the clone that he wasn't the original.
As everyone knew, Dr. Isaacs, the ultimate villain of Resident Evil, wasn't just powerful—he also had a touch of madness.

The clone would certainly cause immense damage to Umbrella, as he would seek proof that he wasn't a clone, perhaps even plotting to kill the original!
For a clone, only by killing the original could he truly exist independently.
Li Qingyuan didn't dwell too much on the philosophical debate between clone and original, though. He also reminded himself: in the future, even if he could learn some "duplicate" skills, he must never use them recklessly.
Otherwise, if a clone and the original ended up fighting over dominance… that would be a disaster!
"Why? I want to kill him!" Hearing Li Qingyuan let Isaacs go, Jill's expression darkened. She stubbornly believed Isaacs had killed Alice and wanted revenge.
"Stop fooling around! I have my own plans. When the time is right, I'll explain," Li Qingyuan said, quickly holding her to prevent her from ruining his scheme.
The entire base was under White Queen's control. Although Isaacs had handed over supreme control, there could still be hidden backdoors.
That's why he had taken the clone into the interlayer to talk.
"Let go!" Jill struggled angrily.
Since she had never activated her powers, Li Qingyuan found it hard to hold her.
Then…
"Idiot, let go!"
Her voice suddenly changed, and the two went from struggling to rolling on the ground in a comical fashion.
"Uh… sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt, but shouldn't we let the people outside in first?" Claire's voice rang out.
"Phew!"
Jill scrambled up, hastily adjusting her clothes.
"We're fighting, not what you think!"
"Got it, got it. Fighting," Claire raised her hands in surrender, though no one knew what she was thinking.
Outside, many people waited to enter, and two injured were lying inside awaiting aid—yet these two had the time to wrestle in the corridor.
But considering that Li Qingyuan had just managed to secure the underground base with Claire's help, she wisely said nothing.
Afterward, Li Qingyuan used his authority to deactivate all the traps in the corridor, while Claire arranged for her subordinates to bring in everyone outside by helicopter.
As for Isaacs' clone?
He had escaped via another passage. When Li Qingyuan received the report from White Queen, he didn't care. Letting him escape was actually advantageous and harmless—a guaranteed win.
Once everything settled, Li Qingyuan dragged Jill into a room to continue their fight.
The underground base's living facilities were incredibly well-preserved, comparable to a five-star hotel.
The two soaked in a luxurious massage bathtub, sipping red wine and listening to music—a pure indulgence.
