Chapter 51 - Battleship

"Jack, where do you think I should go if I want to recruit people?" After pondering for a moment, Li Qingyuan asked Jack Sparrow.

Both system tasks this time were very troublesome. Whether it was becoming the Pirate Emperor or wiping out the British Royal Navy, neither could be handled by one person!

After all, his current physical condition was only slightly better than that of an ordinary person. Forget about a fair fight; even against the grinning Captain Jack, he wasn't sure he could win.

As the protagonist of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Jack Sparrow, besides his mysterious self-confidence and master-level negotiation skills, also had pretty good fighting skills.

At the very least, in terms of swordsmanship, combat, and close-quarters fighting, Li Qingyuan felt he would probably get utterly crushed by the other guy!

What he had been mainly practicing during this time was the design techniques of firearms. Relying on his superior physique and agility, he could now hit a stationary target within fifty meters with near certainty. This was also why he was confident he could handle a ship alone!

With twice the physique and agility of an ordinary person, plus firepower that was several hundred years ahead of its time, if he still couldn't take on a hundred people, he might as well just go to sleep. What was the point of transmigrating?

"Recruiting? What are you planning, mate?" Jack Sparrow couldn't quite follow the other man's train of thought. Shouldn't they be figuring out how to escape this deserted island?

"I thought you made the pirate life sound rather interesting. I'm planning to recruit people and form a Pirate Crew!" Li Qingyuan said, stroking his chin.

Regardless of whether he wanted to take down the Royal Navy or become a Pirate Emperor, the first thing he needed to do was become a pirate.

Through his conversation with Jack Sparrow, he had already learned that the new British King, George II, had just ascended the throne. According to the timeline, it should be 1728 AD.

However, this world's timeline seemed strange. Logically, China should be in the middle of the so-called 'Prosperous Age of Kangxi and Qianlong,' but according to Jack, the distant East was still ruled by the Ming Dynasty.

But that information wasn't important. He was currently in the Caribbean Sea, half a world away from the Central Plains. At the current sailing speed, it would take at least six months to return to China.

Counting the round trip, if he insisted on going back to recruit a bunch of Chinese to be his subordinates, it would be a blessing from the gods if he could accomplish it in a year!

"A Pirate Crew? Mate, do you have a ship?" Jack perked up instantly, asking curiously.

This era, thanks to the development of the Americas, saw countless impoverished Europeans and outlaws flocking to the New World. Add to that the enslaved Africans, the still-surviving Native Americans and Mayans, and you could find people willing to work anywhere along the Atlantic coast.

If you had a ship and could afford to pay them, you could gather a crew of daredevils at any time.

A ship capable of crossing the Atlantic was a valuable treasure, even for the kings of Europe.

The simple fact was that Britain, with its nearly two hundred battleships, was temporarily ahead of other European nations. Spain, the former master of the seas, had been crushed in two wars, losing half its fleet, leaving them with only one hundred and forty ships, making them second in command in Europe.

In the entire Pirates of the Caribbean series, the reason Jack Sparrow was so obsessed with the Black Pearl, besides the fact that the ship carried his dreams and life, was also because ships were incredibly expensive!

The Black Pearl was a three-masted sailing ship. In terms of ship classification, it wasn't even a battleship. But even so, it cost a staggering twenty thousand pounds to build.

As an aside!

Even the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow's head, at his peak, was only worth ten thousand pounds.

"I think I should have a ship," Li Qingyuan nodded, trying to recall the plot in his mind.

"Uh, mate, you aren't talking about a dinghy, are you?" Jack Sparrow glanced around, not spotting any ships, and inquired with a teasing tone.

"I think it should be a second-rate battleship!" Lee Qing turned his hands around flexibly, speaking with uncertainty.

According to the records in the movie, the HMS Dauntless in Port Royal was definitely a battleship, but whether it was a third-rate or second-rate battleship, he couldn't tell because he wasn't a professional nautical enthusiast.

"Second-rate battleship? Are you kidding?" Miss Swann wasn't particularly interested in ships, so she didn't react much, but Jack Sparrow was like he had been electrocuted, jumping up from the ground.

How did he even manage to jump up while sitting?

"What's wrong?" Seeing Jack Sparrow's flustered expression, Lee Qing asked with a smile.

"Second-rate battleship, mate, do you know what you're saying?" Jack Sparrow regained a bit of composure, saying each word slowly.

There were indeed many pirates in the world now, but whether it was Jack Sparrow or the so-called Nine Pirate Lords, the ships under their command were basically modified merchant ships.

Because battleships simply weren't for sale.

All battleships were in the hands of royal families. Whether considering ship quality or the number of cannons, battleships and converted merchant ships were not on the same level.

In a one-on-one situation, a captain and crew might rely on experience, morale, and other miscellaneous bonuses to pose a threat to a battleship. However, if three or more battleships formed a battle line, they could easily triumph even against ten pirate ships.

This was why, in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie, even the Nine Pirate Lords lost their courage to fight after seeing dozens of battleships emerge from the fog.

There was no way to win; one round of cannon fire from the battleships, and everyone on the pirate ships would be sinking to the bottom of the sea to feed the fish!

"When I say I have one, I have one!" After pondering for a moment, Jack felt that his plan was highly feasible.

As long as he ignited the signal fires according to the original plot, Governor Swann of Port Royal and Commodore Norrington, who were searching for Miss Swann nearby, would quickly arrive.

And once he was on board, dealing with the people on the ship shouldn't be a problem for him.

Even though the HMS Dauntless had over two hundred British soldiers on board, as long as he could swiftly kill Commodore Norrington and then take out twenty or thirty more to make an example, the rest shouldn't stubbornly fight to the death.

However, doing so... he looked up at Elizabeth Swann, who was licking her fingers.

He figured there was no chance of him and her getting along peacefully!
