After the sky turned gray with faint white light and snow everywhere, it was a beautiful scene. Chris decided to use his strong expertise in espionage and planned a strategy with Kevin and Ace. He asked Kevin to locate the laboratory responsible for the strange weather.
Ace said: "Man, I faked my death. I died with the police. But Chris, I didn't expect you to be this weak—Raven beat you up."
Kevin replied: "It's not like Chris to get beaten. It must be my lucky day. Chris once told me that if he ever lost, he'd buy me ice cream forever. Isn't it my lucky day, Chris?"
Chris didn't even listen to Ace's words and walked through the city streets as snow kept falling and the gray-white sky glowed. He went up to the top of a skyscraper and watched the city. The view from above was truly breathtaking!
Kevin then called Chris and told him he had pinpointed the lab behind the weather.
Chris asked: "How did you find the lab?"
Kevin replied: "I may not have the level of science and technology Edward has, but I have enough experience to reach the place."
Chris said: "Thank you, Kevin. You've always been by my side—you and Daigo."
Kevin answered: "No need to thank me. You just reminded me of Daigo. I don't know where or why he left… Anyway, no need for thanks. Before I hang up, about the parachute I gave you—the success rate is low, but good luck!"
Chris ended the call, leapt off the skyscraper, and opened the parachute, trying to land near the lab. While in the air, he enjoyed the view and the cold breeze. When he landed, Ace called: "Hello, Chris. Good luck! I only called to wish you good luck so I'd be even with Kevin. Goodbye."
Chris got into a car and drove to the site. It turned out to be very close, but required precision—like threading a needle. When he arrived, he got out of the car and continued on foot, since the road was scattered and broken.
As Chris walked toward the lab, the place was so quiet that the only sound was his footsteps crunching in the snow. He noticed a square-shaped spot where the snow was slightly raised. Clearing it, he revealed a hatch-like door, opened it, and entered. This lab was dark, with the sound of buzzing electricity. Chris realized this was a backup lab, activated after two other labs had been destroyed.
He sneaked inside unnoticed. While collecting evidence, he found Edward and Raven talking about the city. Between them was a button. Chris slipped past them without being seen and pressed it, stopping the continuation of the gray-sky operation.
Edward and Raven headed for the emergency exit. Edward said: "Chris, you actually stopped the operation. But do you really think a scientist like me has no soldiers? They'll come to kill you once the door opens. And don't forget my favorite student—the strongest one, who will surpass me—Skullhead." They escaped, and soldiers rushed in to attack Chris.
Chris drew his pistol and shot them down, killing them one by one. Suddenly, someone burst in with a machine gun, mowing down the soldiers. It was Ace. He said: "I told you, Chris, I'd even the score with Kevin. I told you!" He finished off all of Edward's soldiers.
Chris and Ace returned to Kevin. Kevin asked: "Do you have new information about Edward?"
Chris replied: "He spoke of someone—his favorite student, who will surpass him."
Kevin, eating ice cream, asked: "Who?"
Chris said: "He's called Skullhead. I want you to gather information on him."
Kevin answered: "Who is that? I've never heard of him. If Edward says he'll surpass him, maybe he's the one who developed the virtual world. Ever since Edward appeared in the mysterious employee murder case, problems followed. Raven was advanced through science, and now Skullhead is even better than Edward? We're moving from one problem to another. But that's a good thing, Chris—you're truly becoming a spy."
Ace added: "Right, the employee murder case—I still haven't forgotten it. During my investigation, I found a paper describing the crime in detail. I was shocked to the point of madness. That was the first clue from Black Mask. I still remember it, Chris." (Ace burst into laughter.)
Chris said: "Thank you both. Kevin helps me gather intel and pinpoint locations, while Ace saves me at the right time. Our next mission will be very, very important."
Ace and Kevin asked together: "What is this very important mission?"
Chris answered: "Kidnapping Edward."
