I was rightfully surprised at what happened—my plan thoroughly failed.
"Huh?" I said out loud, still in the restroom.
I had been there for about 30 minutes, but I would stay there a little longer—I wanted to understand what happened.
My plan was simple and supposedly effective, that was the way I preferred to plan things because I was useless at detailed plans.
I told Suzuki to tell Yoshida to meet up with Miyamura, and I told him to confess.
I knew he would confess to her, and I set everything up for that to happen.
However, I expected her to turn him down so I could prove something—that even compatible people with no chemistry will not go out with each other.
I wanted Miyamura to experience another heartbreak so I can explain that shallow confessions lead to nothing tangible because explaining with just words would be ineffective.
"How could this happen?" I said heading over to the dorms.
[Miyarito-kun: This calls for celebration, let's party.]
[Me: Is that right? But where do you wanna party?]
[Miyarito-kun: Kinda broke so I can only party in the dorms.]
[Me: Oh, but who's room?]
[Miyarito-kun: Is that even a question? Yours obv.]
Maybe I didn't read it right, what does he mean by my room? He's not even asking but commanding for it.
I was about to send a message when I got one from Suzuki.
[Aiya-chan: So, about that favor? Nothing's off the table, right?]
I regret saying anything is fine.
[Me: Yeah, but please go easy on me.]
[Aiya-chan: Yeah ok. My request is for you to meet me at the school rooftop tomorrow during lunch.]
Huh? It's such a normal request; wait, maybe she wants to add something with it.
[Me: You do know that you can't request for more than one thing, right?]
[Aiya-chan: Yeah, this is all I want. So will you do it?]
[Me: Yeah sure, anyway, later.]
[Aiya-chan: Bye.]
With my conversation done and no further use, I switched off my phone and headed over to the dorms, but when I reached the lobby Miyamura charged at me.
"What the hell man?!" he yelled, putting me into a headlock.
"What'd I do?"
"You ghosted me, I sent you over 20 messages and 5 missed calls."
Talk about a coincidence, he calls and texts when my phone is off.
"Figures," I said.
"Figures what?" Miyamura intensified his headlock.
"Hey, hey, hey," I tapped on his arm. "I'm sorry, won't happen again."
"So…Can I use your room?" he asked.
Huh? Well, I suppose it's fine as long as I'm there.
"Y-Yeah, why not."
"Really? When I mentioned it before, I forgot to ask so…"
I lost consciousness, he held my neck for way too long, when I came to, I was in my room.
I looked around and found myself tucked in, I sat up and was about to text Miyamura when he entered my room.
"Hey, sleepyhead."
"How'd you enter my room?"
"Not even a thank you."
"How'll I thank someone who knocked me out?"
"Fair. Anyway, I met the woman at the front desk, and she gave me a one-use special code I can use on it."
That explains how they entered my room, when I almost burned it down.
"They just gave you like that."
"Nope. I had to prove I was your classmate."
"No, I meant they gave the person who knocked me out a way to enter my room."
"Well, I didn't tell them that. I said you just fell for no reason."
"And they believed you?"
"Anyway, time to party," he changed the subject.
Why'd he change the subject?
"I'm way too tired for that."
"Come on, man."
"Come on, my ass. I'm feeling sleepy because you knocked me out."
Of course, I'm lying but I don't feel like having a 'party' especially what happened last time.
I had previously agreed because I was in a headlock but now it was on my own terms.
"Fine," he agreed. "Anyway, thanks for getting me a girlfriend. So uh..."
He seemed a bit shy and fidgeted with his fingers before leaving for the door.
"See you later dude."
"Yeah, good night."
After he left I considered making dinner but didn't end up doing it. I just took a bath and went to sleep.
The next day started normally with me monologuing on my way to school.
9 days. That's how long I've been in Tokyo Metropolitan High School.
If you'd told me before arriving that I'd have friends by now—or that I'd find myself cooking—I would have called you delusional.
Yet here I am, thriving. Well, sort of.
My first day was overwhelming—No need to explain that. And the Class Beta debacle was also exhausting.
Though now my days have returned to their predictable pattern—class then dorm room and vice versa.
However, things like finding Miyamura a girlfriend have slightly shifted that but now that he has one, everything's fine.
However, it doesn't change my impression of this school—classes are engaging, though I mostly stare outside the window.
And also, I've made friends—Ito, Kagura, Miyamura and Suzuki.
The latter asked me today for a favor—to meet with her on the school rooftop.
Wonder that was—
"Hey Nakamura," Ito cut me out of my monologue.
"Hey."
Meeting Ito like this just happened to become part of my daily routine.
We walked to class talking about nothing particular and the rest of my day went as normal, at least until lunch.
When the bell rang, she stood up and rushed out. Normally, she would stay in class and chat with friends but today, she left before anyone came.
Well, I knew where she was going because I was also going there.
I left the class shortly after and we walked together, since she didn't say anything, I didn't ask.
The hallway turned quieter than usual—while it was quiet during class it was quite loud during break.
I could guess why they were quiet; it was because I was walking with Suzuki—a shadow with a shining star.
The distant hum of conversations dwindled as we climbed the stairs to the rooftop.
When we reached the rooftop, Suzuki turned to face me, her usual playful demeanor replaced by fidgety fingers and reddened cheeks.
"So, Nakamura," she began, her voice steady. "Will you be my boyfriend?"
Eh?!!!!
