After we all finished eating and cleaned up the office from the trash of the food. We disbanded in the evening and took out my phone from my pocket to see that its already 8:00pm. I headed to the train station using my map application to guide me there as I wasn't still familiar with directions n this world.
"Thank you for existing map application." After thanking the map app.
I lined up to the kiosk machine and after a while of waiting I finnally got it. After that I boarded the train and looked my addressed that I have save during morning and an hour in a half I arrived at my destination. Once the train doors open I exited immediately so that the flood of people won't crushed me.
"Good thing the seniors are approachable and dependable." Scenes from today flashed on my mind as I was waking back to my shady apartment. I spotted a billboard with guy holding a beautifully crafted spear and slogan saying "We want you!"
About a couple minutes of walking I saw my shady apartment. I open the door and entered my apartment room and I first take my clothes off and put the shirt on the plastic while hanging the pants for another use because it not that dirty. I headed to the bathroom for a quick bath and after fully drying myself and changing into my home clothes and fold open my futon and lay down.
My phone alarm went off, I reached for my phone and turned in off and got up "Is it morning already?" after rubbing my eyes to open my eyes. Once I opened both of my eyes, I then cooked my breakfast, ate and took a bath.
"Time to go to work!" I commuted from my apartment to the ember's guild headquarter. Once I have arrive in front of the building and was about to enter the building I was stopped by the security guards.
"What is your business here sir!" with an air of intimidation on their tone.
"I worked here, I started yesterday!" I answered not reacting to their clear intimidation.
"Then can I see your ID that was given by the team leader." the other one with a lean build replied.
'Wait! senior didn't gave me anything yesterday though. Fuck!!' my mind was going full panic mode when senior Alister saw my situation. He then explained my situation and with that I have entered the building and followed senior Alister back to the office but before we reach the office.
"Thank you for saving me senior Alister" I bowed thanking him.
"You don't need to bow down you know. Just thank me normally." He then opened the office door revealing senior mike arranging documents.
"Mike where are the others?"
"They are on the room below having a training session with senior Ed." senior mike replied while organizing the documents in a rapid pace.
"I will help you senior mike!" I approached my desk but senior Alister yanked me.
"You must join the training Arron because you're will be given a mission today so is better to prepare." With that I followed him down stairs and saw Senior Ed demolishing both senior Alice and Skyler.
They got up at the same and lunges at senior Ed. Senior Skyler throw multiple balls that exploded into light and smoke, seeing their chance they both rushed into the smoke but when the smoke cleared they were both on the floor laid out while senior Ed stand over them.
"Hmm, Arron you're finally here" he turned his back and walked towards me but both of the seniors use this as an opportunity. Senior Alice sweep his legs while senior Skyler twist his body and planted his feet and unleashed an overhead punch toward him. But even when Senior Ed was still on the haven't touched the floor as he was falling he used senior Skyler arm as pole and kicking him to side which send him flying to the cage of the arena while he landed smoothly on the floor.
The moment he landed senior Alice was already attacking by unleashing a barrage of jabs but he simply parried all of the attack while slowly approaching her. Once she is at his range of attack he dish out multiple blows on her body causing her to stagger and as a finisher an open palm to the jaw knocking her out.
He then opened the door to the arena "Arron and Alister its both your turn come in."
We entered the arena and senior asked "So who is first?" while cracking his knuckles. Senior Alister then leaned in and whispered "If you go first we are even."
'Is this guy insane! I would die if I got hit by senior hit! what should I do?' I then suggested "Why don't we use rock, paper, scissor to decide."
"That's a good Idea!" Senior Ed nodded his head.
Me and senior Alister began our best of two. I won the first time but lose the second and now were neck to neck. I chose scissors but senior Alister was rock meaning I have to go against senior Ed's monstrous strength.
"So Arron is my next opponent." he declared while stretching.
'I am fucked!' I close my eyes accepting my fate.
"Alright since you are a newbie. I will give some win conditions, I will no move from this and only use my left arm and if you land a hit, move me from this spot and make me use my other limbs you win! one last thing I wont use the same level of strength that I used against Skyler and Alice" he presented me a handicap which provide me some relief but there is a problem I don't know how to fight throughout my time on earth I often avoid things that could result into a full blown fight.
"Come at me then!" I throw a punch but he simply twist his upper body to the side dodging me and I fell on the floor from my own punch. As embarrassing as it is I continue to attack and slowly my punches are getting a bit better but I was slumped on the floor gasping for air. I couldn't fulfill the win conditions and just give up.
'I couldn't even touch him. No its okay Lucas you can next time' such thought were going through my mind while retreating outside the arena.
"You were doing pretty good for someone who doesn't know how to fight." Senior Alister offered me a high-five and I took it.
"Thanks senior Alister." I sat down onto the chair as Senior Ed called him out.
The fight between the two of them were more exciting than what me and him had. They were trading blow for blow t seems like they were equal but then senior Ed's movement suddenly became faster and faster to the point that I couldn't even see his attacks. It looked like a blur to me and senior Alister defenses was broken and he force to just take all of the attacks as he can't find an opening to counter attack.
"Hahahaha, that was a pretty good attempt Alister." As senior Ed cock back his arm and hits him on the gut causing him to kneel down in pain. While senior Ed just waiting for him to recover. Once senior Alister recovered from the pain he change his stance from offensive to a more defensive one.
This time the one who initiated the fight was senior Ed he lunged at senior Alister and he parried senior Ed's attack and retaliate with his own. After a couple exchanges he managed to land an attack on senior Ed's stomach but it doesn't affect him at all as Senior Alister is the one that hurt his hand during that attack.
Senior Alister raise both his hand "I surrender! there is no way I could beat you captain."
"Well its good knowing your limits unlike these guys" Senior Ed pointed at both senior Skyler and Alice laid out like a mattress on the floor.
"Good job senior Alister you lasted more than me" I raised my hand for a high-five. A sound was heard from our high-five while senior Ed are waking up the two seniors on the floor.
Senior mike entered the room "Arron! you have your first mission."
After that announcement both me and senior Alister look at the details of my mission. It read: Get an artifact known as the blood rose and get it before the deadline. You will be given 35,000 aegis as partial payment and the other 35,000 when you completed the mission. You may ask for a companion at the auxiliary department, combat department or asked your teammates for help. Lastly the time will be given to you is six days for completion.
'So they give a partial payment. Well considering how dangerous this team's job is, it make sense.' I looked at senior Alister beside me.
"hmm, want me to help? well I currently dont have a mission today so I could accompany you." I nodded in response.
"Captain I will use a healing potion!" and senior Ed just did a thumps up.
"Thanks captain. I will go with Arron for today! come Arron lets shower first" he patted my head.
"But senior I didn't bring a spare clothes"
"Don't worry we can just use Skyler's clothes!" he replied while grinning.
