Chapter 244 - Chapter 244: Both Sides Collapse

The dust finally cleared.

Dragonite lay sprawled in the crater, battered and dazed, his eyes spiraling—completely fainted.

"It's down! Even a Dragonite, known as one of Kanto's pseudo-legendaries, couldn't withstand the terrifying onslaught of Buzzwole!" The announcer's voice cracked with disbelief.

The arena erupted into chaos.

No one could believe their eyes. That wasn't some run-of-the-mill Pokémon—it was Dragonite, one of the mightiest in existence! And yet, it too had fallen in an instant…

So this was the true power of an Ultra Beast? It was terrifying beyond words!

On the other side of the field—

With Dragonite's fall, Yozora absorbed its ability: Multiscale.

But even with that mighty ability, Dragonite had been taken down in a single burst by Buzzwole…

That was the destructive force of Huge Power, stacked with multiple Power-Up Punches!

"Three versus three! Now, both trainers are down to their final three Pokémon!" The announcer shouted just as Red calmly recalled Dragonite and sent out Moltres once again.

This time, the battlefield had shifted.

The rain from earlier had faded away, and the weather had cleared into simple sunlight.

Not a blazing heatwave—just an ordinary sunny sky.

Moltres gained no particular boost from it, but at least, unlike earlier, it wasn't being weakened either.

Now, fully revealed, the Legendary bird blazed with authority. Flames roared across its crown, wings, and tail, radiating an aura both majestic and divine.

A Legendary Pokémon versus an Ultra Beast!

The stadium shook with excitement.

"From a typing perspective, Moltres holds a dominant advantage here. But don't forget—it's already taken heavy damage from the earlier half of the match…" Professor Oak analyzed from the stands.

Indeed, Moltres was already down to roughly half of its stamina. Still, type advantage was type advantage. The outcome could only be decided in battle.

"Go, Buzzwole! Thunder Punch!" Yozora was the first to strike.

Buzzwole had already boosted its strength to the maximum with repeated Power-Up Punches earlier.

At this point, its power had transcended the limits of an Elite-level Pokémon—reaching a force rivaling that of the Elite Four.

Any further Power-Up Punches would have no effect—it was already at its peak.

So now, the choice was obvious: strike with Thunder Punch.

Moltres wasn't just Fire-type—it was Fire and Flying. And Flying-types were critically weak to Electric moves.

With Buzzwole's monstrous strength plus type advantage, this would be a one-hit knockout!

"Swish!"

Buzzwole shot forward, leaving a crimson blur in its wake—using Agility once again!

But Moltres was no Dragonite. This was a true Legendary. Its reflexes and speed were in a league of their own.

"Moltres, use Agility too!"

"Fwoosh!"

Buzzwole's crackling fist swung through the air—but Moltres vanished, reappearing ten meters away.

Buzzwole growled and lunged after it.

But Moltres was no slower. In fact, as it fled, it retaliated, spitting bursts of flame.

Sleek and elegant, Moltres twisted through the air, agile as a dancer. Its mastery over fire was absolute.

With each beat of its wings, searing jets of flame scattered across the field.

What began as Buzzwole's pursuit quickly reversed.

Now, it was Buzzwole on the run, while Moltres rained fire down in relentless waves.

Three times in quick succession, Buzzwole was scorched by Flamethrower, its carapace charred black and its body smoking heavily.

"Moltres is too ferocious! After landing multiple consecutive hits, Buzzwole's speed looks dulled!" the announcer cried.

Red's eyes flashed.

He seized the opening instantly. "Moltres! Close in with Heat Wave, then finish it with Fire Blast!"

"Kiiiii~!"

Moltres spread its wings wide and surged forward, flames billowing with each beat.

The scorching wind engulfed Buzzwole, locking it down under overwhelming pressure.

Buzzwole roared in agony, body writhing as the flames pinned it in place.

Then—

While maintaining the fiery gale with its wings, Moltres opened its beak and unleashed a massive Fire Blast.

"BOOM!"

The blazing kanji-shaped inferno struck Buzzwole head-on, hurling it across the field before slamming it into the ground.

"Buzzwole is unable to battle! Moltres wins!" The referee blew his whistle the moment Buzzwole failed to rise.

Buzzwole had been defeated.

Yet Moltres had paid dearly for the chase.

Its breathing was ragged, body trembling—it had burned through much of its strength.

Yozora recalled Buzzwole without a word, then sent out Golduck.

"Splashhhh!"

As soon as Golduck hit the field, the sky darkened, clouds gathering overhead before breaking into a torrential rain.

Under the storm, Moltres's flames faltered, its majestic aura wilting instantly.

Golduck, however, grew more energized.

"Golduck, Water Pulse!" Yozora commanded.

Even weakened, Moltres was still a Legendary. Yozora wasn't about to underestimate it.

"BOOM!"

The swirling orb of water struck true, blasting Moltres from the sky.

"Moltres is down as well! Both trainers are now down to their final two Pokémon!" the announcer roared.

The atmosphere grew tense. The intensity of the match had silenced the crowd—apart from the announcer's voice, the arena was deathly quiet.

In the pouring rain, Red recalled Moltres, then threw out another Poké Ball.

From it emerged Venusaur—his steadfast partner from earlier.

Unlike Moltres or Snorlax, this Venusaur was not just powerful—it was bonded with Red through a year of battle.

Their synchronization far surpassed that of his other Pokémon.

"It's Venusaur! Once again, Venusaur returns to the field, and it holds the type advantage here!" the announcer exclaimed.

The match resumed instantly.

"Venusaur! Use Vine Whip!" Red shouted.

"Shhhht!"

Twin vines lashed out like whips, cutting through the rain toward Golduck.

Grass against Water. A perfect super-effective strike.

If it landed, Golduck would be in serious trouble.

Fortunately, while Venusaur's vines were quick, Golduck was quicker still in the rain.

"Swim around, Golduck! Counter with Water Pulse!" Yozora commanded.

As if reading his mind, Golduck leapt, narrowly dodging the vines. Its hands swirled, summoning another Water Pulse.

But then—

Dozens more vines suddenly burst from Venusaur's back, thick and writhing like monstrous tentacles, sweeping in from every direction to ensnare Golduck.

Golduck's eyes widened in shock.
