Chapter 93 - Rescue and Trial

The Night King stared at Jon Snow with a mocking look, holding the Obsidian Dagger that had turned an eerie blue.

Jon Snow's eyes were bloodshot as he struggled with all his might, as if he wanted to tear the Night King apart. Just as the Night King was about to plunge the dagger into his heart, his expression suddenly changed.

In the distance, in the sky, a giant figure of light suddenly appeared. Powerful Light Magic energy was slowly gathering in the air, as if it was about to erupt.

Faced with this sudden turn of events, the Night King was forced to give up. He knew this was Marco's signal to attack!

So he could only hastily order his subordinates to retreat. He had originally intended to retrieve the crystal longsword, but the scorching heat inside had burned his palm, and the dagger in his hand had also fallen to the ground. Therefore, he had no choice but to give up and quickly flee the area on his Wights horse mount.

The Wights in the forest also protected their White Walker masters one after another, shielding them layer by layer, without revealing a single gap. Because of their repeated losses to Marco's "Holy Light" magic, the White Walkers had been constantly researching ways to reduce the damage. This method was the fastest and most practical one they had come up with.

Boom!

The violent and terrifying energy raged in this area, instantly turning many of the Wights protecting their masters into black ash. Because there were not many Wights and White Walkers in the center, and also due to the improvement of Marco's Light Magic level, there was no violent energy explosion this time. Many Wights disappeared directly, and the forest did not suffer extensive damage.

When the snow and dust from the energy burst settled, Marco and the others found Jon Snow unconscious on the ground. Lyanna Stark quickly floated over, wanting to help her son up, but afraid the death energy on her might harm him.

Brynden and the others hurried over to help the young man. They found his hair had turned silver-white. Brynden looked at Marco, astonishment on his face.

Marco nodded and said, "You were right! He's the Targaryen bloodline I mentioned before. He also possesses the royal blood of the Stark family, descended from the First Men. It seems the White Walkers used some special ritual to activate the Targaryen dragon king bloodline within him! Hmm! What is this?"

Marco had barely finished speaking when he reached out and grabbed two weapons from the ground. One was an Obsidian Dagger, and the other was the weapon Jon Snow had been holding.

Seeing that Jon Snow showed no signs of waking up, Marco immediately cast "Vitality Regeneration" on him. The power of the mid-level Holy Light magic was indeed extraordinary, instantly healing all of Jon Snow's superficial injuries.

Ding! Two components of the Moonlight Blade detected. Would you like to synthesize?

Although he felt strange, Marco instinctively clicked "Yes." Immediately, the two weapons in his hands transformed into a brilliant blue light and merged together.

And at this moment, Jon Snow had just opened his eyes. He clearly saw the changes happening to the dagger that had killed his lover and the crystal longsword.

In the blue light, a beautiful figure seemed to appear. Then, the two weapons in Marco's hands merged together. It was a two-handed greatsword, as if made of azure glass, and it sparkled with starlight.

After the weapon was combined, it flew directly in front of Jon Snow, emitting a strange sound of a sword's song, as if it was happy, as if it had a consciousness!

Ding! Moonlight Blade (Special). This is a knight's longsword that condenses special attribute energy. It can grant the wielder the ability to use blizzards and control Wights. Solely bound to Jon Snow. (Ying Geng Targaryen)

Marco looked at the weapon's description, feeling a bit strange. This thing seemed to be just using a name, and had nothing to do with the weapon in the game. So he turned to look at Jon Snow, who was also in a daze.

"Little Ying... Jon! What's wrong? Speak! What's with the bite marks on your neck?"

Lyanna Stark asked anxiously, seemingly frightened by her son's condition.

"Mother! I'm fine! I'm not..."

Jon Snow hadn't even finished speaking when he embraced his mother, bursting into tears. He completely disregarded the chilling energy emanating from her, as if he wanted to release all the pressure and pain he had endured over the past period of time and years.

Marco gestured for the others to leave, leaving only himself, Brynden, and of course, his little wife, Moon Shadow.

About five minutes later, the emotionally distraught 16-year-old finally recovered. He looked at the people around him, bewildered. When he saw Brynden and Marco, his pupils suddenly shrank.

"Mother! Who are they? Hey! Isn't that Lord Marco? Why aren't you wearing a mask this time?"

Jon Snow asked with a tremble in his voice. He seemed to sense something, his tone a mixture of fear and excitement.

Marco was wearing the same clothes as the last time they met. Because Marco had left the deepest impression on him, Jon Snow still remembered his figure to this day.

"Child! This..."

Lyanna Stark looked at Marco with some hesitation. After receiving his affirmative look, she composed herself.

"Alas! I didn't tell you before because I was afraid you'd be too impulsive. But now that your bloodline has suddenly awakened, you might realize something yourself after a while! So! I'll tell you now!"

Lyanna Stark said with a sorrowful tone, and then she slowly told Jon Snow about what happened in the past.

From "The Tragedy of Summerhall" to "Robert's Rebellion," and finally to "The Tower of Joy," the wails of the ghost carried a terrifying coldness and death energy, causing the surrounding temperature to drop significantly.

Fortunately, the few people around were all magic users and weren't greatly affected. Even the weakest, Jon Snow, had awakened his bloodline power. If they were ordinary people, they would have frozen to death long ago!

"This! So that means! I'm not a bastard!"

Jon Snow said, stammering a bit, as if he couldn't believe his ears. He had encountered too many things today. He still hadn't recovered from the blow of losing Lan Xue, and he hadn't expected to hear about his bizarre origins!

So in the end, thousands of words converged into this one sentence, this tone contained too many emotions, but more than anything, it was numbness and pain.

Knowing that he wasn't a bastard was supposed to be a happy thing, but for Jon Snow, who had just lost his beloved, it was so ironic!

Marco sighed helplessly and handed him the Moonlight Blade. Looking at the still-dazed Jon Snow, Marco said,

"We'll wait for you outside the forest! This weapon now completely belongs to you, and it's the only trace 'she' left behind! A person experiences many things in life, but I believe 'she' wouldn't want you to be so despondent!"

After synthesizing this strange weapon, Marco specifically used "Soul Link" and "Elemental Vision" to check its internal situation. He saw some soul fragments inside, similar to human souls, and also understood some of the ins and outs of what happened.

Although a portion of soul fragments remained, Lan Xue, a half-breed Wight, had a body and soul that were too special. The remaining soul fragments were only a portion of energy, and because she wasn't a complete soul to begin with, it was impossible to use Light Magic, "reincarnation," to resurrect her.

Moreover, her soul fragments had completely merged into the weapon, which also gave it some of the Wights' abilities. However, Jon Snow didn't have magic, so he could only rely on the life energy in his blood to activate those two special abilities.

"Just, does this little brat really have a 'misfortune' aura? I've already changed his fate like this, and he can still cause someone's death. No, no! I should let Brynden teach him! I can resurrect him if he dies! Resurrection isn't a pleasant experience!"

Marco thought as he walked. This incident had sounded the alarm for him, and Jon Snow definitely couldn't stay on Skaen Island any longer.

Jon Snow had high talent. With the ability to warg and the blood of the Dragon King, he was a natural Dragon Knight. Marco's initial goal was to train his ability to command troops and then reveal his identity at a suitable time in the future.

Just now, all these plans were disrupted, so Marco could only re-plan his arrangements.

"Ding! Congratulations to the host for completing the special mission. The mission rewards are being distributed..."

"Ding! A fisherman near the Deep Forest Fortress obtained a strange stone, which is an Ancient Ice Dragon Egg. The fisherman will bring it to Winterfell for sale. Please collect it in time!"

After receiving the prompt, Marco's eyes narrowed slightly, and he had an idea in his heart.

It seems that this Ice Dragon appeared for Jon Snow. But an Ice Dragon? Isn't that just a legendary thing? It doesn't seem to appear in the TV series! Could it be because of my 'butterfly effect'?"

Approximately an hour later, Jon Snow came out with his mother. At this moment, he had dissipated the sadness in his eyes, and his whole person was revitalized!

Jon Snow slowly walked to Marco and knelt on one knee, saying:

"Lord Marco! I am willing to pledge my loyalty to you! But I..."

Marco waved his hand, interrupting him. "You've grown up in Winterfell! You've always been a part of House Stark! You don't want to see your siblings hurt, do you?"

Jon Snow stared at Marco, his face a mask of shock, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Alright! Alright! I'm just messing with you. I have a task for you now, ahem!"

With that, Marco straightened his posture, cleared his throat, and summoned Flame Dragon's Tongue. Jon Snow was even more astonished by the sight of the fiery greatsword. Marco rested the sword on the ground, facing Jon Snow.

"Ying Geng Targaryen! By the name of King Marco Belaryus, I accept your fealty. From this day forward, you are a member of Griffin's Fortress! When you complete the Dragon Knight trials I've set for you, I will declare you a true Dragon Knight! With the 'Lightbringer' as witness, Ying Geng Targaryen, do you accept?"

"Dragon Knight! Oh! I! I do!"

Jon Snow was shocked once again, but this time, he only dazed for a moment before his mother slapped him, the attack filled with potent death energy, bringing him back to his senses.

Marco retracted Flame Dragon's Tongue and said to Jon Snow:

"I received a revelation that an Ancient Ice Dragon Egg will appear in Winterfell soon. Your task is to bring it back. This is the trial I set for you! Brynden will be your mentor and will assist you until you complete the trial.

By the way, you should have heard of him, the famous 'Lord Bloodraven'! In terms of seniority, you should call him your great-great-uncle! Right? Brynden!"

"My Lord! I am just a bastard, I am not worthy..."

Brynden Rivers said, somewhat dejectedly, but Marco interrupted before he could finish.

"Bloodline! Bloodline! I've said it before, a person's nobility is determined by their ability and character, not their ancestors. Weren't our Valyrian ancestors just shepherds? Where does the noble bloodline come from? Remember this! Magic is our noble capital, and it has nothing to do with bloodline, understand?"

"I apologize, My Lord!"

Brynden Rivers said apologetically. Although he had once held a position of great power, he was still just a lowly bastard in the eyes of the mainstream nobles. Bastards are always bastards in Westeros, and adding 'noble' doesn't change anything!

Seeing that Jon Snow was also dejected, Marco said with some helplessness:

"This country is sick. The nobles and the Church are always on top, constantly exploiting the common people, preventing many capable individuals from rising. What I want to do is change all of this.

I want only my voice to be heard in this country. I will eliminate these messy lord systems and abolish the bloodline theory. In my country, there will be no hereditary nobles in the future, only nobles of merit. Only those with ability will gain status and power!"

Marco's words left the two humans and the ghost stunned. Lyanna Stark, in particular, was taken aback. Her family had thousands of years of history, yet Marco was saying he wanted to overthrow such a system, which she found difficult to accept.

Marco steadied himself and said, "This world will eventually usher in change. I want to save not only humanity threatened by the White Walkers, but also those oppressed by the system! Brynden! Ying Geng! Do you two have the courage to follow me and create a new era?"

After a long silence, the two suddenly knelt on one knee and said in unison:

"We are willing to follow, my Lord!"

"Hahaha! Good! The lands beyond the Wall are just the beginning. In the future, it won't just be Westeros. I want to change the entire world!"
