Kane
I paused for a moment, unsure what to say. I was sure he'd notice, but I hoped it wouldn't be so soon. Nova and I weren't sure we wanted to see his reaction, but the conversation was inevitable.
"Dad thinks it's not forever." I said the first thing that came to mind: "That if my mate is a werewolf, his mark must be stronger than Marcus's." "Marcus," the name escaped Alpha Kane in a low growl. He spat the word like acid, and I nearly cringed at the hostility in his tone. "Do you feel something for Marcus?"
Alpha Kane's eyes darkened faster than I could have imagined. Fear gripped me, but this time the excitement remained. Alpha Kane looked drunk as hell, his eyes black with rage, and I scolded myself for how easily Marcus's name rolled off my tongue.
"No, I don't," I muttered. "I feel nothing for him."
