Chapter 4 - A Dual-Class Healer!

The morning light had grown tired and was replaced with the deep oranges and pinks of an autumn sunset through the guild's windows. Our search through the countless applications was still underway. We had made it through nearly 300 adventurers so far and had very few promising choices.

"This guy might be good," Amethyst said, handing me one of the applications. She hadn't been much help so far, napping whenever she could sneak it in.

I took the paper from her and examined it.

Name: Jormund Emberbound, Age: 42, Class: Healer, Subclass: Acolyte of the Sun.

"Huh? Why him? I don't see anything special about his abilities." I responded. "He might have experience, but that's about it."

"He's an acolyte of the sun; he uses light to heal, which can be used to empower my crystal magic!" She exclaimed with childish joy. "And he's a mature man, just my type," her cheeks were growing red. I could tell she was already fantasizing about him.

"But you're already ancient, old elf," Kyros whispered under his breath.

"What did you just say to me, assassin?" Pure rage erupting from Amethyst's words.

I had to act before Kyros could provoke her anymore. They were like a married couple sometimes; they argued more than not. I didn't want a fight breaking out in the guild, especially if Amethyst Jewelbinder didn't hold back.

She really was an exceptionally powerful mage. She was an elf, of course, so naturally gifted with immense mana. She too experienced a rebirth, being blessed with an even more vast mana pool, becoming an awoken mage.

She studied under the school of crystal magic, a powerful offensive magic that creates and manipulates crystalized mana to attack. This was a very common subclass for the high elves of the Southern Isles, where she was from.

I met her 3 years ago at the Adventurers Guild after she had tracked me down and questioned me. She said she had journeyed to Castellum, a large trade city that was close to the Elvish Empire's border, to learn more about some of the rare human mages here.

I told her the story of my rebirth and my abilities as a frost mage. Her eyes glittered in excitement the whole time I was talking. She begged me to let her stay with me and learn more of my magic, so I invited her to the party. Another mage would be useful.

I wouldn't learn just how gifted she truly was until later.

"Hey, Kyros?" They stopped their dispute and both looked towards me. "How's your search going? Any good options?"

He shifted the unorganized pile of papers in front of him on the table and picked one up. It had a golden edge and boasted a fabulous design of golden ink. I took it from him and read it.

Name: Princess Emma Piusson, Age 21, Class: Healer, Subclass: Royal Priestess.

"A real princess, huh?" I was interested.

A Royal Priestess wasn't common. To study under that school of healing, you had to have royal blood. Makes sense for a princess.

"I've heard a Royal Priestess' healing is potent enough to extend one's lifespan by 20 years. They use it on the royal families." Kyros explained, no doubt thinking of using that power for himself.

"But she's a princess," Amethyst groaned in disgust. "I hate that type, they're so stuck up and spoiled. I doubt she's ever seen real combat."

They both made good points, but a Royal Priestess was special.

"Keep looking, for now this princess is at the top of our list." They nodded in agreement and went back through the stack of applications.

We continued steadily. The sounds of adventurers returning from quests and gold coins being counted on wooden tables filled the guild with merry noise.

The stack continued to shrink as I grabbed one of the last few applications.

My hands shook with excitement; I almost couldn't believe what I was reading.

Name: Tianor Iris, Age: 19, Classes: Healer + Mage, Subclasses: Holy Priest + Druid.

A dual-class healer!

Not only that, but he uses druidic magic. It is said that druidic magic is an ancient healing magic, rare even for elves. If he has the power of both a priest and a druid, his healing skills must be incredible!

"Take a look," I say, showing the application to my party members. They both take a second to read it; Amethyst's eyes glittered in excitement once again. I knew she wanted him in the party just as much as I did.

Kyros nods once in agreement.

"Tianor Iris it is." I decided officially. "We will meet with him tomorrow."
