Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Bai Yunsheng began to accompany the guests around the city, introducing them to the area (even though he himself did not know what, where and where.

The main purpose of accompanying them was to find out what was on the protagonist's mind. While the protagonist himself was resolutely walking towards somewhere.

"In past lives, "that" thing was there... In this life, I will definitely take it!" Zhou Yulong thought.

The mouse squeaked something in his ear, to which Yulong chuckled and whispered back:

"Not now, Heping... Everything has its time..."

Even though the events had not changed much, Zhou Yulong could not help but notice the change in Bai Yunsheng's face.

"What's wrong with him? He should have been all over my sister, the teacher. And now he's acting like he doesn't care about her! And these eyes... As if there is no life in him. Is it because I started collecting artifacts from past lives too early?" he thought as Zhou Yulong glared at Bai Yongsheng.

As they walked, Lei Jiangxue came out to meet them. Zhou Yulong tensed up slightly, and Lei Jiangxue looked at her husband with a cold gaze.

"Did you go to a brothel again?" she asked Bai Yongsheng, to which he only sighed.

"Yeah, and?" he answered her in the same tone.

"I see... The martial arts tournament is starting soon, and you will be participating! No objections!" Lei Jiangxue said in a commanding tone.

"Wasn't it supposed to be held in a month?" Bai Yongsheng asked her.

"It was decided to hold the tournament in advance. The qualifying round will be held this week, and the main tournament is in just a month.

Hearing these words, Bai Yunsheng sighed.

"Phew... So the plot hasn't changed, the preliminaries are this week... The novel said that Zhou Yulong and Li Yuhua passed the test without any problems, so I even forgot about it... Wait, I'm participating too?"

Bai Yunsheng looked at his wife with obvious surprise in his eyes.

"Why should I participate in the tournament?" he asked, looking at Lei Jiangxue with a gloomy gaze.

"Because you piss me off! I don't want anyone to think that some asshole has become my husband!" she replied in a cold voice, looking at him with disgust.

Bai Yunsheng sighed and nodded, starting to leave.

"To be honest, the feeling is mutual!" he said in an indifferent voice, leaving her alone. Zhou Yulong and Li Yuhua followed him and Lei Jiangxue snorted and walked away.

After a while, Bai Yunsheng rented two rooms for Li Yuhua and Zhou Yulong at the inn.

By saying his farewell politely, Bai Yunsheng left for Lei Jiangxue's residence with an irritated expression.

He thought to himself the entire way.

"Damn, I'll end up having to participate in this tournament... Fortunately, this tournament only allows people with a realm no higher than the gold core (3) and I'm at that stage! The main problem is that I don't know any techniques, so I'm literally a walking punching bag!"

After a while, Bai Yunsheng arrived at Lei Jiangxue's residence and walked into his room to see Xiao Ran still sitting in meditation.

He raised his eyebrows slightly when he realized that the little fox was already at the 7th stage of Qi Refining. (1).

"Oh my... It only took her one day to make such progress in her cultivation~ It's not for nothing that nine-tailed foxes sense qi energy and absorb it better than other demons!" flashed through his mind.

Not wanting to disturb her so as not to disrupt her meditation, Bai Yunsheng lay down on the bed and took out a paper and pencil, writing her a message.

"Once you finish cultivating, go to bed and rest. Overloading will damage your core, so rest is necessary!"

Leaving the note next to Xiao Ran, Bai Yunsheng sighed and closed his eyes.

"This week will be very intense. I'll need to learn a few self-defense techniques to get through the tournament without serious injuries..." was the last thing that flashed through Bai Yunsheng's mind before he fell asleep.

The next morning, Bai Yunsheng woke up with a strange feeling as if something was pressing against him.

Looking at down, he saw a little girl lying next to him, clinging to him like a child to a parent. Her ears twitched cutely when they caught Bai Yunsheng's sigh, her four tails wrapped around his leg, not wanting to let go of him, and she herself snored cutely, sleepily muttering something under her breath.

Bai Yunsheng looked at her for a long time, not knowing what to do and not thinking of anything, decided not to wake her up and continued to lie down, hugging her. Because of this, Xiao Ran hugged him back, clinging tighter to him.

The guy looked at the ceiling and thought about this whole situation.

"Even though I took Xiao Ran to me because she was supposed to be Zhou Yulong's future ally, but when exactly will she become his ally?" - was spinning in his head.

Now that he thought about it, Bai Yunsheng, who was Lin Fan in his past life, did not finish reading his sister's novel. Because what about those 5 volumes he read Xiao Ran only briefly appeared in the plot and there were few mentions of her...

"Did I really buy it just because I suddenly remembered her?" he thought to himself until some images appeared before his eyes.

"A hallucination?" asked to himself, seeing how there was nothing around except flames and mountain ruins.

There were piles of corpses all over the ground, and in the center of it all stood four people.

Taking a closer look, Bai Yunsheng realized that one of them was Lei Jiangxue. She stood with her back to the white-haired guy, puffing out her cheeks.

Next to her stood a young woman with black hair and dark eyes with fox ears and 9 tails. She happily jumped up and down and pressed herself against the guy next to them. To which he only patted her head, saying that with a gentle smile.

The fourth person was a cute guy with delicate features. If you look closely, he looks like Bai Yunsheng.

"Who is this?" flashed through Bai Yunsheng's mind as he looked at the unknown people and finally managed to make out the white-haired guy.

It was a tall man with long white hair. He was wearing a blindfold with an unknown pattern on his eyes. For some reason, this guy's gentle smile got on Bai Yunsheng's nerves, and he couldn't help but snort.

Just when he was about to ask, "What the hell is going on?" the white-haired guy suddenly turned to him.

The dark-haired guy's eyes widened as their gazes met. Although he couldn't see the white-haired guy's eyes because of the blindfold, Bai Yunsheng could clearly feel his gaze on him.

Suddenly, reality changed and when he opened his eyes, Bai Yunsheng found himself in his room with Xiao Ran, who was still accepting him.

"What a strange dream..." He sighed irritably and, trying not to wake Xiao Ran, carefully unhooked her from himself.

Getting out of bed and stretching a little, he thought.

"In the novel, Bai Yunsheng was a third-rate NPC who would get his ass kicked by Zhou Yulong. So there was no mention of him... Although... There were a couple of rumors during the tournament about how strange Bai Yunsheng had been acting lately and that he was acting strangely... Most likely, he had a schizophrenia that remained in this body and that dream was related to that schizophrenia!"

Deciding not to bother his head with unnecessary thoughts, Bai Yunsheng made up a reason for the dream and simply left the room.

He went out to the backyard of the residence and, taking a deep breath, began to do exercises.

"My body is only perfect on the outside and if you don't count my endurance, then all other parameters leave much to be desired. So the Shaolin fist fighting technique doesn't suit me..." Bai Yunsheng thought to himself.

"Swordplay is also not an option because I have no experience in fencing either..."

While he was warming up, a couple of guards of the residence were watching him.

"Since when did Master Bai start training?" one of them asked another guard.

"I don't know. I heard the young lady sign him up for the tournament yesterday. Is that why he's training?" the other guard answered hesitantly.

"Maybe..."

While they were exchanging thoughts, Bai Yunsheng had already finished warming up and decided which technique was right for him.

"Of course, I can't use poisons like the Poison Master Clan. But no one said that I can't use their needle techniques!" he thought to himself, turning to those two guards with cold faces.

"You two! Bring me some medical needles, an acupuncture book, a small knife, and something to eat, please!" The guards glanced at each other uncertainly and shrugged their shoulders, leaving him alone.

After a while, the two returned. One of them was holding a box of needles and an acupuncture book above it. The other was carrying a tray of food with a large knife with a rectangular blade on it. They bowed and handed him the gifts.

Bai Yunsheng's eye twitched at the sight.

"I asked for a knife, not a cleaver, and I literally meant several needles..." he thought to himself, but did not comment.

With a deep sigh, Bai Yunsheng took the things and placed them on the ground next to him, and picked up the tray of food.

"Training is training, but lunch is on schedule! Although this is breakfast, not lunch... And I haven't eaten since I came to this world anyway, so this is more like dinner... Whatever!" — he decided not to bother himself and took a sip of tea...
