{MALAKAI'S POV}
I glanced at Vivienne again.
She was sitting across the campfire, half-turned away from us, picking at the loose thread on her sleeve. Every so often, the firelight caught her hair and it glimmered like a flare of red gold. She'd been quiet since she distanced herself from me.
Did I say something wrong? Or was this just Vivienne being Vivienne—moody for no reason and impossible to read?
I sighed and decided not to overthink it.
Turning back to the others, I smiled a little. "To be honest, the more time I spend with you lot, the more I'm starting to grow fond of you."
Lukas chuckled from across the flames. "You're not so bad yourself, Kai."
I grinned. "Careful, Lukas. Keep that up and I might start thinking you actually like me."
"Don't push it." Lukas shot back, smirking.
Giselle laughed softly, tucking her legs under her cloak. Even Agatha cracked a faint smile before shaking her head at us.
