Chapter 149 - Prophecy of War

Just how strong was Tsunade's power? No one understood better than Uchiha Shigure.

Shigure knew he couldn't fight her head-on, so he used his speed to maneuver around her while simultaneously launching a genjutsu attack with his Sharingan.

During the mental assault, Shigure cast Genjutsu: Naraku Sword, forcing Tsunade to relive her past pain.

"Although the past represents pain, if you don't truly accept it, you cannot become stronger." Shigure believed in Tsunade—that's why he dared to use genjutsu on her.

After some time, Tsunade's voice rang out.

"Release!" She was drenched in sweat, her body trembling, evidence of the torment she endured within the illusion.

Though weak, Tsunade now seemed different from before.

"I'm sorry… Senior Sister…" Shigure's heart wavered.

Tsunade walked toward him step by step, serious at first—then placed her hand on his head.

"Kid, no… Shigure," she said softly, then smiled. "Thank you."

Before Shigure could react, Tsunade suddenly crouched and kissed his forehead.

"What the heck!" Shigure froze in place, his mind blank. "Does Tsunade have a—?"

"You're different from others," Tsunade said quietly, a faint blush touching her face.

Shigure stepped back quickly, swallowing whatever he was about to say.

Then he stepped forward again and extended his hand.

Tsunade placed her hand on his, and through their contact, Shigure drew out the faint power hidden within her bloodline—unleashing her suppressed vitality.

Energy surged through her as color and strength returned to her face.

"This is… the ability to trigger chakra flow…" Tsunade murmured in surprise. "Thank you… I feel much better."

"I am a Konoha ninja—the granddaughter of the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama, disciple of the Third Hokage, one of the Sannin! Their will—I will inherit it!" Tsunade declared, her voice fierce and absolute.

"That's… the spirit," Shigure nodded.

"Shigure, don't you want to become Hokage? With your skills and the way you think, you remind me of my great-uncle Tobirama," she asked.

"Me? Like Tobirama?" Shigure chuckled softly. "Don't you think Hokage is still too far for someone like me? Besides, I'm from the Uchiha clan."

"Inheriting the Will of Fire, being powerful, protecting the village—isn't that enough? Why can't an Uchiha become Hokage?" Tsunade retorted stubbornly.

"This… you'll have to ask your great-grandfather and great-uncle, and the advisor Shimura Danzō, along with the two elders." Shigure shook his head. "The village… isn't as simple as what we see."

Although Tsunade was powerful, when it came to political understanding, Shigure knew she wasn't as seasoned as Konoha's veterans.

Danzō, for example—though detestable—often used diplomacy and shadows to secure victories for the Leaf. He bore the darkness for Sarutobi Hiruzen, and in turn made others, like Uchiha Obito and Uchiha Itachi, bear it for him.

Later, Shigure brought Tsunade to the izakaya where Amahara Suisen was waiting and explained the details of Amahara Hachi's poisoning.

"To mix plant molecules and herbs into a poison?! Has Sunagakure's poison craft reached such a level?!" Tsunade was astonished.

"This kind of toxin… once it accumulates too long, by the time you realize it—it's already too late," she said gravely.

"I used Sage Mode to suppress the toxin," Shigure explained.

"So… you've inherited the power of Ryūchi Cave," Tsunade instantly understood.

"Unfortunately, even with that, you can only suppress it for about a week, right?" she said. "If it builds up too long, paralysis sets in, then total necrosis. Even if cured, lasting damage remains. How long did it take you to find me?"

"Lady Tsunade, we traveled from the Daimyō's city in less than a day," said Suisen.

"So it'll take a day to return—five days left, maybe less. We don't even know the precise poison yet. If we need specific ingredients… we might not make the antidote in time," Tsunade frowned.

"I have a plan." Shigure raised his hand.

"On the way here, I left countless Flying Raijin marks. I can teleport between Tanzaku Gai and the Daimyō's city instantly. I'll bring you both back using Flying Raijin—lightning-fast."

"Then, I'll use Shadow Clones to scatter across different regions and buy any medicine we need."

"But how will the information reach them?" Tsunade asked.

"Mount Myōboku uses messenger frogs—Ryūchi Cave uses messenger snakes. I'll use my snakes to carry the lists of needed ingredients. Through reverse summoning, we can transfer the information instantly. My shadow clones can then retrieve it using their own Summoning Jutsu."

Shigure's deep knowledge of space-time ninjutsu impressed even Tsunade.

"That's brilliant! You're exploiting a gap between summoning and reverse summoning!" her eyes gleamed.

"What about afterward? What about the clones with the ingredient lists?" Suisen asked.

"We have a week: one day to get here, half a day to return. If we leave now, the clones will receive the info in half a day, gather materials within another half-day, and then use the Body Flicker Technique to rush back to Daimyō City."

"Yes! That gives plenty of time! Your father's poison will be no problem!" Tsunade said confidently.

"This guy's thinking—it's completely on another level!" Tsunade thought, astonished. Comparing him to Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Minato, and even her own grandfather, Hashirama, she couldn't help but feel admiration.

"This guy… he really is different from everyone else."

Following Shigure's plan, his main body teleported with Tsunade and Suisen back to the Daimyō's city in less than half a day.

The shadow clones quickly gathered the rare medicinal ingredients from across nations and returned. Tsunade, the true Medical Saint of Konoha, worked tirelessly to brew the antidote—and cured Amahara Hachi completely within a few days.

"Thank you, Lady Tsunade!"

"Thank you very much!"

Suisen and Hachi both bowed deeply in gratitude.

"Shigure, kid, your mission's finally complete, right? What are your plans now?" Tsunade asked.

"Prepare for the upcoming war," Shigure answered calmly.

"What did you say!?"

"War? What… what war?" Tsunade asked, stunned.
