HISD Chapter 89 The End of the Age of Ultron

Vision Yi Meng hovered high above the skies, currents swirling around him.

"We have to find a way to stop Sokovia from rising any higher."

In his arms, Wanda looked down at the massive city that had already ascended five thousand meters into the air. Even her carefully painted, indifferent face couldn't hide a trace of sorrow.

Yi Meng knew well—Sokovia was the home she and her twin brother, Pietro, had lived in before they turned ten.

After a moment of thought, Yi Meng spoke calmly. "We don't need to stop it."

"You mean…?!"

Wanda's clear pupils trembled. She lifted her gaze to his face.

Vision Yi Meng nodded. "We have only two choices. One: destroy Sokovia to prevent it from falling and annihilating the surface of the Earth.

"Or two: destroy the engines' braking system, let the city continue to rise, and send it drifting into outer space."

"Let Sokovia… just fly away from Earth?"

Wanda's delicate body shivered. She instinctively wanted to object, but soon realized it truly was the better solution.

Compared to the first choice, which would shatter the city into countless fragments that could endanger towns below, sending it into space spared more lives.

"Then… do it."

Wanda curled slightly in his arms, closing her eyes. Her long lashes trembled as if she couldn't bear to watch.

Yi Meng willed his consciousness outward. A surge of invisible static lightning spread at blinding speed, pouring into Sokovia's massive engine control system.

…

Inside the city, the last half-destroyed Ultron bot crawled desperately forward, pressing the engine shutdown switch.

But nothing happened. The engines roared on at full power, propelling the city ever higher, toward the dark edge of space.

Holding Wanda close, Vision Yi Meng watched Sokovia ascend into the skies. Behind them, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s carriers and lifeboats carried the remaining civilians to safety.

Yi Meng's golden eyes reflected the rising city as it vanished into the heavens.

Sokovia was lost—just as in the history of Marvel's timeline.

Perhaps one day, humanity—or even he himself—might retrieve it from the vastness of space. But for now, he let the thought fade. The fall of Sokovia, the death of Ultron… this marked the end of the Age of Ultron.

Avengers 2 was finished.

Next would come Avengers 3, when Thanos arrived to seize the six Infinity Stones, snapping half the universe into dust and destroying the stones with a second snap.

Then Avengers 4—where the surviving heroes used the quantum machine to travel back through parallel Marvel timelines, recover the Stones, and reverse the Snap. In the end, Tony Stark sacrificed himself, delivering the final snap that erased Thanos.

And after that—the era Yi Meng had first entered: the post-Endgame world.

Right now, he stood ten years before that moment.

Was he now part of this predetermined history, playing the role of Vision?

He didn't believe it. He had already changed fate by saving Quicksilver, who should have died here.

He resolved to seek out Pym Particles soon, and with future knowledge, rebuild the quantum machine to return to the timeline of his first dream.

Then a soft, steady voice broke the silence. "My name is Wanda. Wanda Maximoff."

Yi Meng lowered his head.

The girl in his arms had opened her eyes. She gazed toward her distant home, now disappearing into space. Her youthful yet determined face remained calm, lips pressed tight. At only eighteen, she already carried a strength beyond her years.

Was this her way of introducing herself?

"My name is Vision," Yi Meng said after a pause. "But I also have another name—Yi Meng."

"Yi Meng?" Wanda repeated softly, puzzled.

"You could call it… a nickname." He nodded. He didn't know how long he would remain in this Marvel past. A dream anchor was necessary.

From experience, as long as someone in a dream remembered him deeply, they could serve as an anchor, allowing him to return at will.

Letting others know his true name wasn't just choice—it was necessity.

Strange. It felt a little like… faith.

A spark lit in his thoughts. Dream anchors resembled how gods required belief to manifest in the world.

Perhaps, in this Marvel world, he could even establish a church. Believers might serve as anchors too.

His mind spun like a supercomputer, simulating endless possibilities.

"What a strange man," Wanda thought secretly. "Even robots have nicknames?" Yi Meng was a nice name, but shouldn't a nickname be something like… Little Dream?

(TL/N: Meng = dream)

…

Vision Yi Meng held Wanda as they floated thousands of meters above the ground, watching Sokovia rise like a colossal space carrier until it pierced through the atmosphere and vanished into the cosmos.

Whoosh!

A streak of gold and red shot toward them, halting abruptly in the air. The armored figure hovered with thrusters blazing.

Vision Yi Meng turned his head. Of course—it was Morgan's father, Tony Stark.

"Was this your doing?" Iron Man asked.

Yi Meng knew he referred to disabling the braking system and sending Sokovia away.

"I asked him to," Wanda answered coolly before Yi Meng could reply.

Tony glanced at her, then returned his gaze to Yi Meng. "Good work. Thor and I were ready to destroy the entire city ourselves."

"This result… is far better."

Iron Man sighed lightly, then added, "You both performed well in Sokovia. But given your backgrounds… you don't exactly have anywhere safe to go now, do you?"

Yi Meng understood. He was born of the Cradle; Wanda had once been an experimental subject of Hydra. Letting them roam freely was dangerous.

"I can stay at Avengers Tower," Yi Meng answered. There, he could quietly work on recreating the Pym Particles and the quantum machine. He doubted he would stay long.

"My brother and I have no problem with that either," Wanda added quickly, including Pietro in the decision.

"I'll have rooms prepared for you," Tony said, his voice relaxing. Yet beneath the mask, his eyes narrowed in subtle surprise.

These two—who had once been at odds—now stood together, their bond unexpectedly strong.
