School had been hectic, the term moved so fast than i expected and it was already test week, at castella, we always had for terminal mid test before exams and i couldn't afford to fail, i had spent all my time studying like hell.

We were all seated in class, waiting for our physics teacher to come in and give his test, Joshua and simi were chatting and constantly asking for my opinion, my head throbbing with a headache as i took off my glasses.

"Are you okay," Joshua asked turning Simi's attention to me, i forced a smile and i could tell they weren't buying it, "just nervous," I breathed off. They comforted me, talking about how the test might be a piece of cake, i remembered my father's words.

My thoughts were cut short when the physics teacher walked in and asked everyone to go back to their seats, i went to mine and settled for the test, the teacher dropped the sheet on my table moving to the next person. I started reading the questions on the paper and began answering them, sweat rolling down my face, "stop writing and submit," the physics teacher said after ten minutes elapsed.

We submitted one after the other, knowing the physics teacher, he would mark the scripts immediately, i patiently waited for my test script as he marked. Soon he was done and he stood scribbling something on the board, "i would pick two people to solve this," He announced turning around.

He looked around, "Fatima, come out," She stood up walking majestically to the board waiting for the teacher to call the second person.

"Joshua, please come out," he said again.

Joshua stood up and walked to the board, "both of you pick a marker and start solving the questions. I have divided the board into two, you have twenty minutes, Go ".

He yelled, they jumped right into it, Joshua's hands moving swiftly without a pause, there were five questions each carried two marks, both their hands moved fast as they finished before the time elasped.

The teacher stood up and inspected the workings on the board, i saw a different pattern in Joshua's calculations and hell was i confused. "Nice work Fatima but you made the exact same mistake in your test with that question," he pointed out and my eyes widened, i had made the same mistake, i was awestruck.

"I don't think so sir, i am very sure i got the calculations correct," She retorted.

"No, though you could have gotten it correctly but you used the wrong formula,"Joshua said.

"Yes, look at his calculation and the right formula " the teacher said agreeing with what Joshua said.

I saw the embarrassment in her eyes as she huffed returning to her seat, the teacher asked joshua to share the scripts, my nervousness kicking back in, did i pass the test. Joshua handed me my script, i couldn't count the number of stars that reflected in my eyes, i passed.

It was a free period for both science and commercial students, the free period was the last period before closing time, some of us gathered in an open area of the school popularly known as 'blue cove'. There were round metal chairs and a table made out of marbles and flowers adorned the spaces between the paths, it is indeed magical.

"The physics test was simple baje baje," One of my classmates, Jerry said, i chuckled slightly.

"Oga, tell us your score," Chuibuike said, my curiosity intrigued.

"I had a six over ten," He said proudly, everyone burst into laughter.

"And you are happy, make me hear word," Ada scoffed.

"Make him celebrate oo, he neva pass physics before. Na him highest be this," another of my classmates said.

"How was the physics test for you guys," Ada asked, i looked at Fatima sighing, "i think we should talk about something else," I opened my mouth for the first time since i got here.

"Almost everyone got a ten," Chuibuike said, he went back to stuffing his mouth with chips.

"Fatima, what was your score," I heard Joshua asked, everyone turned to look at her eagerly, waiting for her to announce her score.

God, what was he doing.

"Four," She whispered, everyone gasped honestly i wasn't expecting it.

"Ohh," Joshua had a sweet smile on his face, i couldn't tell if was intentionally humiliating her or not, she silently picked up her bag walking away, her friends running towards the direction she disappeared to.

I flushed with embarrassment, huffing i returned to my seat, when the teacher asked joshua to share the scripts, i felt i could die, he was already taking my spot as every teacher's favorite, he got to my table and brought out my script.

"So because you got the highest, you are now feeling like a boss," i scoffed.

"Really, everyone got a ten and you are the lowest. You didn't give me much of a challenge as i expected from the best student in the set," he snorted.

His words replaying in my head, everyone had a ten except me, how embarrassing.

I had all my books in my bag as i followed Sarah and Ada to blue cove, i had a pack of Maryland and chivita in my hand, some of us were already gathered round chatting about the tests.

"The physics test was simple baje baje," Jerry said.

"Oga, tell us your score," Chuibuike said.

"I had a six over ten," He said proudly, everyone burst into laughter.

"And you are happy, make i hear word," Ada scoffed.

"Make him celebrate oo, he neva pass physics before. Na him highest be this," another of my classmates said.

"How was the test for you guys," Ada asked, my mood dampened, "i think we should talk about something else," Paul said talking for the first time since we got here.

Almost everyone got a ten," Chuibuike said, he went back to stuffing his mouth with chips.

"Fatima, what was your score," I heard Joshua asked, everyone turned to look at me eagerly, waiting for me to announce my score.

What the heck was this idiot doing?

"Four," i whispered, everyone gasped honestly it wasn't expected.

"Ohh," Joshua had a sweet smile on his face, i couldn't tell if was intentionally humiliating me or not, i silently picked up her bag walking away, my friends running towards the direction i had disappeared to.

"What happened there," Ada asked me.

"He did that to humiliate me," I cried cleaning my tears with my sleeves.

She sighed staring at me, "you know you caused this, you humiliated him by cornering him to play your games which is justified since he won," i stared at her in shock.

Was she defending him over me.

"Are you taking sides," I yelled at her, Ada tugged her in frustration.

"I am not taking sides, i am just laying out the truth because honestly you deserve it," My eyes stung, tears rolling down my cheeks.

I held my hand to stop her from coming close to me when i saw her approach, "stay away from me," I whispered breathless, turning to my heel and ran.

I walked tirelessly into the estate, my eyes swollen from all the crying, the quiet house dampened my already damaged mood, i had a pack of chocolate ice cream and chips. Stuffing my mouth with them, a lone tear fell from my eyes, i had switched off my phone basking in betrayal and humiliation.

"Ma'am, your dinner is ready," My eyes fluttered open, i thought they had all left since dad gave them a vacation break, my blood shot eyes seemed to scare her, her face was pale and her feet retreating backwards.

"I am not hungry so you can leave," I snapped scaring the poor maid who ran for her life.
