Maya's POV
Fire rained down on the Blackwood house. Glass broke as rocks crashed through our windows. I held Luna tightly against me, her tiny form finally warm once more after that terrible instant when she had ceased to breathe.
"They're on their way," Asher snarled, peering out from behind the curtains. He glanced at me, his eyes frantic with terror. "Pack only what we need. We have five minutes."
Outside, angry voices grew louder. Torches lit up the night, changing our front yard into day. I counted at least fifty wolves from different packs, all united by one terrible goal – to kill our baby.
"I won't allow them to take her," I murmured, pressing my lips to Luna's forehead. Her eyelids quivered but remained shut. Ever since she collapsed in the woods, she had been fluctuating between consciousness and unconsciousness, at times herself, at others... not.
Eli crashed through the back door, his garments ripped, blood streaming from a gash above his eye.
