The celebration dinner had gone late. By the time Silver got back to her dorm, it was past midnight. She was exhausted, knee throbbing, but happier than she'd been in months.
Americus was still up, laptop open, waiting.
"Good dinner?" she asked.
"Great. Dad wouldn't stop talking about the performance. It was actually kind of sweet." Silver dropped her skate bag. "I'm wiped. Going to sleep."
"Before you do—" Americus turned her laptop around. "I need to show you something."
Silver walked over. Looked at the screen.
It was a video. From tonight. Someone had filmed her and Eli's conversation outside the rink. Not all of it, but enough. The tender moment. The "I want forever" exchange. The almost-kiss before Riley interrupted.
"Where did you get this?" Silver felt cold.
"It's already online. Posted an hour ago. Going viral in the figure skating community." Americus's expression was serious. "Someone recorded you two. And now everyone's talking about it."
