Chapter 120 - Dark Assassins

Crackle.

Crackle.

The magnetic storm coil shrouding the island of Genosha had not dissipated. On the contrary, it burned even hotter and brighter.

Such an intensely powerful magnetic field could block all outside surveillance—spy satellites, scanning systems—even the most advanced radar could not detect anything within Genosha.

This alone was enough proof of Magneto's strength.

From behind the veil, the leaders of major nations and the heads of various organizations—who had been monitoring the Genosha incident—fell into shocked silence, their expressions extremely complicated.

Did the Security Council truly have the ability to erase this place?

"Lord Sage."

"I agree to refine the exotic alloy for you."

"But… my country lies in ruins. Countless compatriots have died, the camps have collapsed—we need time to recover."

The tall, white-haired elder spoke in a deep voice.

Clearly, he intended to stall for as long as possible.

After all, refining exotic alloy required him to leave Genosha.

Without him overseeing the island, the mutant villains entrenched here would certainly rebel. And if the tiger leaves the mountain… the monkeys would crown themselves kings.

When he returned, his home might already be stolen.

"Dikuai."

"Zhongsu."

"It's your turn to display divine power."

Shen Du's lips curved upward.

At once, the two demonic brothers clasped their fists, pressing their knuckles until sharp crackling bursts erupted.

After the long battle, their dormant muscle memory was awakening again. The wisdom and magic once eroded by time now slowly resurfaced.

There was no doubt—this was a fast and effective method.

The seals arranged by the Godly Warriors suppressed them from the inside out—body and soul, completely sealed.

Absolute suppression.

But since they had already escaped the hellish prison of demons, it meant the seal now had cracks.

By continuing to battle, they could widen these cracks—and that was the key to fully breaking free.

"Thunder births vitality!"

"The earth carries all things!"

The two demons chanted under their breath.

Then they flung open their arms, fingers unfurling—blinding beams of radiant light erupted endlessly from their bodies.

Wherever the light passed…

The fractured crust began to mend!

Whole sections of collapsed logs burst with new shoots—in the blink of an eye, dense forests rose again!

Even the elite mutants, dressed formally for the occasion, stared dumbstruck.

Magic…

It was godlike.

Truly capable of turning decay into wonder.

Even Omega-level mutants could not achieve such feats.

After all, mutants' X-genes were mostly singular in function, prone to losing control. They often needed to suppress their own potential to prevent psychic collapse—

a limitation that restrained the full power of their gifts.

Even Magneto's current level was the result of more than half a century of training.

Yet now that his abilities were fully developed, his lifespan was nearly burned out.He was approaching the end of his life.

His once-spirited friend, Professor X, now suffered from Alzheimer's.

And he himself no longer possessed the sharpness of his youth.

"All right."

"Magneto."

"Refine the exotic alloy for me."

Shen Du smiled.

"Hm?"

Magneto snapped back to reality.

He looked around—the triangular island, once reduced to ruins and broken walls, had returned to its original form!

Even the mountaintop that had been cut flat by a sky-piercing beam had been restored!

"This…"

"This is unbelievable!"

He exclaimed.

A heartfelt admiration rose in him.

Not even the term divine power was enough to describe the ancient demons.

This was true omnipotence—reshaping all things at will, recreating the land, rebuilding the mountains and rivers.

The Eight Trigrams:

Qian, Kan, Gen, Zhen, Xun, Li, Kun, Dui—

the fundamental elements that governed nature.

No matter the world, extra dimensions, or mystical realms formed by leyline nodes—none could escape the structure of the Eight Trigrams.

Without it, the infinite multiverse would fall into utter chaos—withering, turbulent, impossible to maintain.

Even the Celestials would be baffled.

Buzz—buzz—buzz!

Magneto lifted his hand and activated his powers. The scattered metal fragments on the ground—along with pieces of enchanted armor containing traces of Adamantium—rose into the air.

Mid-flight, they disintegrated, transforming into microscopic metal particles.

They surged in from all directions.

Then they spiraled above his palm—spinning, spinning—

Suddenly gathering together like a miniature tornado.

The mass condensed—

until finally, it solidified.

A nearly three-meter-long spiked mace appeared!

The hammer-head was shaped like a date pit, embedded with iron spikes.

Savage and vicious—like wolf fangs.

It felt incredibly heavy.

Likely not less than a thousand kilograms.

The density of the metal elements had clearly reached an extreme.

"You've put thought into this."

Shen Du grasped the handle, wearing a faintly amused expression.

"Lord Sage!"

"What about our weapons?!"

The thunder demon—with a muscular build and a beast-like face resembling a hippo crossed with a rhinoceros—roared with bright red eyes.

"They must have fallen into the hands of the former slaves."

The earth demon rumbled in a simple, honest tone.

He completely failed to understand their elder brother's deeper meaning.

Not only did the Sage have a personal weapon—the other demons also once possessed countless magical artifacts, treasures, enchanted items, and master-crafted gear.

This and that—

all priceless.

But due to the sudden ambush of the Godly Warriors, the demons had no time to prepare, and were thrown into a barren, lifeless dimensional space.

Their towering halls and temples—

razed.

The priceless relics in their treasure vaults—

looted!

And with the demons' remains, countless secret organizations rose from nothing, forming the mystical landscape of the modern world.

Even Kamar-Taj had taken a share.

Only the Sage had prepared in advance. He spent his magic to bind his palace's existence to his own life force.

The moment he was sealed—

the glorious palace vanished.

But all the treasures inside remained untouched.

Thus, the thunder demon was green with envy.

He desperately wanted a weapon of his own.

"Don't worry."

"My demon brothers."

"The mysterious forces who stole your relics will all face punishment."

"And your past treasures will be returned to the Sage…"

"Oh—returned to their rightful owners!"

Shen Du corrected himself with deep sincerity.

Facing his beloved brothers and kin—how could he ever deceive them?

Absolutely impossible.

He swore to the lamp.

"You better keep your word!"

"If you don't, you'll be surrounded and beaten by all your brothers and sisters!"

Zhongsu and Dikuai said in unison.

Their trust in the Sage was essentially zero.

With that—

Shen Du fired a beam of demonic light from his fingertip, rapidly engraving runes onto the mace.

Enhancement runes.

An enchanted mace.

The exotic alloy Magneto refined possessed the qualities of both Vibranium and Adamantium—perfectly amplifying the runic magic's power.

Even superior to Uru metal from Asgard.

It was clear how strategically valuable Magneto's abilities were.

It meant they now had enough logistical support—

no more worrying about the demons' equipment.

"Demons."

"Even if your bodies are strong, there's no need to abandon weapons."

"The difference between intelligent beings and bloodthirsty beasts is the ability to use tools."

Shen Du's expression flickered.

A violent surge of energy rippled toward the cruise-ship city hidden among the mountains.

On the deck—

Lady Agnes, dressed in a knitted long skirt, saw this and her pupils shrank into pinpoints.

Runic magic?!

How could the Sage be proficient in runic magic?

This was a magical discipline from the medieval West—the rune arts born in ancient Norway.

And most importantly—

its legacy was nearly extinct.Hardly any sorcerers practiced runes anymore—most had turned to the mystic arts of Kamar-Taj.

By communing with elder gods and dimensional entities, they accessed power and cast corresponding spells.

Of course—

not all sorcerers communed with elder gods.

Mr. Wong, for example—

was particularly fond of worshipping powerful eldritch entities.

The Eye Demon—

Shuma-Gorath!

"…Kidnapping that rebellious girl?"

"What price did you offer?"

Mr. Wong spoke in a low voice.

Gripping his curved staff tightly, his gaze never moved—locked firmly onto the towering figure floating in the sky.

"The Twelve Talismans."

"They will be yours."

Lady Agnes narrowed her eyes, a sinister gleam flashing as her smile grew wicked.

Whoooosh!

A sudden gust swept past.

Her hood was blown back—revealing an aged, gaunt, sharply defined face.

Snow-white eyebrows drooped over her cheekbones.

Long gray-and-white hair streamed behind her.

A pointed beard hung from her chin.

Strange tattoos adorned her right cheek and forehead—

marks of an ancient foreign demon.

They granted her immense and unfathomable magical power.

Her eyes, too, were mismatched—

one emerald green, the other pale blue.

"Talismans?"

"Deal."

Mr. Wong grinned slyly, swinging his curved staff to summon his loyal, silent servants—

the Dark Assassins.

Gan.

Wen.

Chui.

These were undead warriors he created, modeled after ghost-shadow legions.

They resembled dark-skinned, sharp-eared elves.

Their bodies were covered in blue glowing markings that provided constant magical energy—granting the Dark Assassins the rare ability of eternal existence.

Even if destroyed, they would not truly die—but return to his pocket dimension.

Fierce and ominous, with pitch-black pupils gleaming horror, they gripped various magical weapons—

and appeared out of thin air in the cruise-ship city.

"What—?!"

"Daolong?!"

"He actually infiltrated Genosha too?!"

Storm and the Monkey King exchanged looks and hurriedly retreated.

Because the dark sorcerer Daolong was a pure-blooded Shenzhou native.

Real name: Huang Daolong.

Known for colluding with the leader of the Ten Rings, joining the Five Weapons Society, and working with the bandits of Tiger Mountain.

Even the authorities could not deal with him.

"Daolong plans to attack the Sage?"

"Dog bites dog?"

The Talos couple looked delighted.

However—

The Dark Assassins' target wasn't the Sage at all.

It was the rebellious girl in the blood-red trench coat—

the witch who wielded crimson energy.

Wanda!
