Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Over a long road, a road that stretched for long distances, a road in the middle of vast green lands, pure lands decorated with beautiful flowers.

On the road moved a wooden wagon, it was covered, and the driver was a short and chubby man, holding the reins of the two horses as he drove, and it seemed the wagon's path was heading toward a forest nearby.

"We will enter the forest, be ready for any attack," said the driver as he looked back.

Inside the wagon Wann was lying down and reading one of the books about magic, he seemed absorbed in what he was reading and perhaps didn't even hear the driver's warning.

This trip makes my patience run out quickly, I can't resist, every time I think of that academy I feel a crazy excitement, nobles, excellent mages… and Liza…

Speaking of Liza, I no longer feel good about her decision, dad said yesterday that maybe Liza doesn't return my feelings, if that is true it would be shocking… and maybe it is true, how could she go study in an academy in the capital without saying goodbye to me…

Does Liza hate me? I must ask her… no no that would be embarrassing, especially if we were inside the academy which will be crowded and if someone heard such a conversation it would be extremely embarrassing.

Alright, all I need to do now is read these books that my father gave me, then wait until I arrive at the capital.

"growwwl"

Oh God, it seems I got hungry quickly, anyway I didn't even eat breakfast, let's see what my dad put for me in the bag, hmm, an apple? No… pies???!!

"Yahoooo!!"

Impossible, it's my favorite pies, did dad make them? If it was him I can already hear his complaints about losing his manhood from here, yeah, it's my favorite berry pies!

"This is the happiest trip for me!"

I crawled a bit to the back to open the wagon's curtains and kill time by watching the road, but it seemed crawling to the back of the wagon was very hard.

"Ughhh" I suddenly fell to the ground after the wagon stopped.

"What is it?!" I asked as I stood up.

"Goblins!" shouted the driver.

I had forgotten about them, wait did we reach the forest? I opened the curtain to see the trees surrounding the road we were walking, well at least they're not bandits, I can deal with them.

I left the wagon and stepped outside, they were goblins indeed! There were only three of them, two trying to kill the horses, and one trying to attack the driver.

"Hide in the wagon!" I shouted loudly as I stood in front of the goblins.

"Are you sure you can face them?" asked the driver.

"Man, just hide!"

The man finally ran to hide, then, while I was preparing my stance for battle, the goblin ran toward me holding his club, his ugly green face and his big nose, they are without doubt the ugliest creatures in the world!

"Flamos!"

After chanting the spell, a fiery spear shot from my hand, oh God how I love this spell, it hit the goblin hard and he fell to the ground.

But he quickly stood up and tried running at me again… pathetic.

"Rockgar!"

And here we go, my second favorite spell, as he was running, rocky spikes burst from the ground and pierced the goblin, turning him into nothing more than a lifeless corpse that fell to the ground as the spikes sank back into the earth… what a scene.

When I turned to the others, they had already fled, am I really that strong?

"Y… you… you can use magic?"

When I turned, the driver was staring at me in shock… ughhh who will explain this to him now.

"Yes," I answered.

"This is amazing, you should have told me… from now on if goblins attack I won't stop and you can cast spells on them from the back," said the driver excitedly.

"Great idea!"

And so we continued the journey, and indeed we carried out his plan, whenever there was an attack he sped up and I attacked from the back, I even killed a large number of goblins, this will surely be a record.

Ughhh, when will I just arrive!!!

Under the sunlight the wagon went on, Wann lying down with his books, and the driver driving while humming, a peaceful journey to the capital, where the Vostolia Academy lies.

Some rabbits jumped off the road to let the carriage pass, some deer hid behind the plants, and the trees stood tall, greeting the travelers. The atmosphere along this road was truly wonderful, and it seemed that Wann loved it as well.

"Beautiful."

Reading books about magic while watching the stunning nature is wonderful, maybe I'll miss this in that academy…

ughhh.

"Why did we suddenly stop?!"

"There's another person who wants to ride."

Oh, lying in this carriage is so annoying, even falling down hurts. As I sat down again, suddenly someone else entered from the back… damn, I have to share this space with someone else.

But look at him, he looks amazing. His hair was a cool blue like the sky, and he wore elegant white clothes. He was a noble! And he had a sword hanging on his waist… yes, definitely a noble.

He stepped in and sat without a word, not even a greeting. Yes, this arrogance belongs only to nobles… but it's impossible for a noble to ride in a carriage like this.

"It seems you two have the same destination, why not become friends before arriving?" the driver suddenly said.

"Same destination? Are you planning to enter Vostolia Academy?" I asked him.

Even though I asked, he stayed silent. What level of rudeness is this? I take back what I said, even nobles aren't this rude.

"Hey, I'm asking you."

"…"

"After you asked me, what did I do?" he asked coldly.

"You stayed silent."

"Then what does that mean?"

"That you don't want to answer?"

"Then shut your mouth."

"My god, you're extremely rude, even more than nobles… amazing how someone can be this rude."

At that moment, right after I finished my words, in the blink of an eye, his sword was at my neck. His speed—I didn't even see him draw his sword, how did he manage to reach my neck?

"Don't you dare call me a noble again," he said with a terrifying glare.

"Get that sword off my neck."

After some time of exchanging stares, he finally pulled his sword back and returned to his usual seat. What's wrong with this man, by the gods of magic, he's not even a dwarf for me to excuse his rudeness.

"But why are you acting like this, you seem… you seem full of hatred."

"None of your business," he whispered.

After that, I realized he wouldn't talk anymore. A strange silence spread. Earlier I was busy reading, but now I could hear different sounds: the wheels turning, the trees, the plants moving. This quietness was so strange, I couldn't even continue reading.

All because of this blue-haired bastard. I want to know everything about him, he stirs my curiosity insanely. These clothes—I'm sure I've seen them before, a light white coat that goes down to the feet… where have I seen it??

Well, if he's studying at Vostolia too, I'll learn a lot about him, but I won't be too focused on him, since I have other interests… and yet, I still have this hysterical urge to know more about him.

After a while of riding, night finally fell. Well, once morning comes, I'll find myself in the capital. Wooow, this excitement—I've never felt it before in my life.

"Alright, it seems we'll have to camp," the driver said as he stopped the carriage.

"Camping will be hard here, I think we should take turns keeping watch," I said as I stepped out of the carriage.

"You can fight, Mister Wann, but what about you, sir? Can you fight?" the driver asked the arrogant blue-haired boy.

"You both can sleep, I'll guard the place alone," he answered coldly as always.

"Man, seriously? Do you think I'm disabled or something? He asked if you could fight so you could take turns with me on watch, not if you could just guard us. Don't act like you're some gallant knight or something."

"Then can you guard us yourself?"

"No, we'll take turns."

"Listen, I don't have time for this nonsense. I can't sleep, wake up again, and then keep watch. Choose one thing: either you sleep and I guard, or I sleep and you guard."

"Listen, sky-hair, I'm a strong man and I have principles of manhood. So there's no way I'll let someone guard me while I sleep."

"Then I'll sleep and you guard."

"That means you don't have manly principles?"

"Manly principles aren't shown in such trivialities… now choose your answer."

"I'll guard," I replied.

"Finally…"

After that, he withdrew into the carriage to lie down, while the driver was lighting a fire to cook dinner. Well, I won this argument, and it seems I'll be guarding this unmanly guy. One point for me, zero for this feminine one.

Alright, I'll eat some food. I guess staying awake won't be too hard, right? I've never tried not sleeping in my life, it feels weird.

"Hey Wann, want to eat with me? I'm cooking chicken soup," the driver said while stirring the pot.

"Thanks, but I'll have these pies."

"I'm sure they won't be enough. The night is long, so I'll leave you some of the chicken soup."

"Thank you."

"What about you, sir?"

Of course that feminine one won't answer. And indeed, he didn't reply and stayed silent. Wait, did he fall asleep? Impossible, no one sleeps that fast.

"Forget him, his behavior is strange and he seems arrogant."

"Alright, looks like I'll eat lots of chicken soup by myself, hahaha."

After that, the driver went to sleep as well, leaving only me keeping watch. The moonlight was shining brightly, and the trees stood still, unmoving. There were some eerie sounds from the plants, but they seemed to be just animals. Well, I guess keeping watch isn't that bad.

I take that back, I'm starting to feel sleepy.
