Sid studied her quietly, his expression unreadable. Then he gave a slow nod.
"Yeah. You're still a zombie, at least for now."
Sid tried his best to comfort her. He didn't want Evelise to think that being revived was a curse or punishment. His tone stayed calm but steady, like he was trying to ease the weight she carried.
"But hey, you're also more alive than most of them out there. You can talk, think, argue… and apparently boss me around. So that's something."
Evelise stayed quiet, her gaze distant. Her hand gripped the edge of the chair as if grounding herself.
"I thought… maybe when you revived me, there had to be a purpose. That's all I kept thinking about— over and over, last night and even now. Why me? Why am I back? For what? Why did you have to bring me back at all…"
Sid exhaled slowly, watching her struggle to hold herself together.
