Lance walked in, hair a mess, yawning. "Why do I smell effort?"


Ren was sitting at the table, quietly sipping coffee. When he saw me, his eyes softened immediately.


"Morning," I replied, hoping my voice didn't sound like I was auditioning for a romance drama.


Eric set plates down. Eggs, toast, and something that looked suspiciously burnt.


Kai poked it. "Is this supposed to be black?"


We sat together, eating and laughing. It felt… domestic. Weirdly so. Like we were some chaotic found family pretending we had our lives together.


At one point, my knee brushed Ren's under the table.


Lance noticed. "Do you two need a moment?"


I wanted to crawl under the table and live there forever.
