Chapter 28 - Chapter 28:"I’m Not Riel Anymore"

The room was breaking apart.

Cracks spread through the walls like spiderwebs, light bleeding from the fractures. The Narrator's voice echoed in the chaos, cold and merciless:

"Glitch. Delete. Rewrite. Purge."

Eren's sword clashed against waves of code, sparks of holy light colliding with the corruption that ate reality itself.

"Go!" Eren shouted, blocking another strike. His voice was raw, urgent. "Run, Aki!"

Aki flinched. The name hit him harder than the collapsing world around them. Not Riel. Aki.

The Narrator's head turned slowly, mask splitting with cracks that revealed only endless static behind it.

"That name does not belong here."

Aki's chest tightened. He wanted to scream, to run, to hide — but something in him snapped instead.

"No…" he muttered. His fists clenched. "No. You don't get to tell me who I am."

The diary lay on the floor, pages burned black, useless. The last anchor to his supposed "role" was gone.

He looked at the mask, then at Eren.

"I'm not Riel Arkwood," Aki said, his voice trembling at first, then steadying with each word. "I never was. I'm not your villain. I'm not your pawn. I'm not your—your goddamn character file!"

The Narrator froze, the air hissing with static.

Aki stepped forward. His shadow stretched unnaturally against the broken light.

"My name is Aki. I don't care what this world says. I don't care what the game says. I'm done playing along."

Eren looked over his shoulder, panting, wide-eyed. "…Aki?"

Aki laughed, bitter and sharp. "Yeah. Surprise. I'm not the Riel you think I am. I never was."

The Narrator's mask cracked further, a distorted scream reverberating from it.

"Then you are nothing. An error. And nothing must be erased."

The ground shattered. Code spilled upward like liquid fire.

Aki lifted his hand. And for the first time, the glitching menus obeyed him.

[New Route Created]

[Title: Undefined]

His vision swam with red text, rewriting itself. The Villain Route collapsed. The Hero Route stayed locked. But something new blinked into existence.

[Glitch Route: ACTIVE]

Energy tore through him, raw and unstable. He stumbled, but didn't fall. For the first time, power wasn't being given to him by a script. It was his.

"I'm not Riel Arkwood," Aki said again, louder now. His voice carried through the crumbling dorm, through the chaos. "I'm Aki — and if I have to tear this world apart to live on my own terms, then I will!"

The Narrator screeched, lunging forward in a storm of broken code. Eren raised his sword, but Aki beat him to it — thrusting his hand out.

The glitch energy surged like a storm, wrapping around the masked figure. The Narrator's voice fractured.

"Un—defin—ed—cannot—be—"

And then the mask shattered into white dust.

The world lurched. Reality bent sideways, then snapped back into place. The fractures in the walls sealed, the menus flickered out. Silence fell.

Aki dropped to his knees, gasping for breath. His whole body shook.

Eren was at his side instantly. "…Aki. You—"

"Don't," Aki muttered, holding up a hand. His throat was raw, his chest burning. "Don't call me Riel again. Ever."

Eren hesitated. Then he nodded. "...Alright. Aki."

For the first time since waking up in this cursed world, Aki felt the name land without weight. Without chains. Without scripts.

But the quiet didn't last.

From the broken fragments of the Narrator's mask, whispers lingered.

[Warning: System collapse accelerating…]

[Glitch Route detected. Unstable.]

[Prepare for consequences.]

The world wasn't fixed. If anything, Aki had just broken it more.

But he smiled anyway, sharp and tired. "Good. Let it break. Because from now on, I'm writing my own story."
