Chapter 26 - Fight between a werewolf and a banshee

Fight between a werewolf and a banshee.

Far above, the goddesses watch…

"These kids are getting entangled with themselves," the white-haired goddess muttered, eyes glowing faintly in the mist.

"The blood moon Alphas will bring nothing but chaos," another goddess replied. "It's better to let the weak ones die now."

Becky POV

Closing my eyes, I felt the air swoosh with every movement around me, my claws flickered out, my teeth sharp.

I spent hours training my strength and my wolf. Until she fully awakens, I never trusted him; I was just desperate, but now I swear to protect everything that's left.

"Fifteen more minutes before you can leave for class," the trainer yelled.

"I'm done for today; I can't shift," I hissed. Yeah, she's not waking up anytime soon. I knew I had to be strong for my revenge; that's why I'm secretly training with swords and knives. I recently heard of wolfsbane.

My knife would be coated with it. I swore to find and wipe out Anita and all of Drey's pack. My mom lay in a vegetative state because of them.

Just as I grabbed my bag, stepping out of the training room, my hair stood on end, and I felt a malicious intent. But there was no one in sight.

"What do you want? Show yourself!" I growled, furious.

"Easy, blondie," Natalie's voice rang beside me.

"How did you get here?"

She sneered, "You think you're the only one with the power?"

"I'm here to test the rumor on werewolves and me, the crier of death, who is stronger."

"C…crier of death? So you are a banshee. No wonder you hated me." I hissed, "The dead and the living have nothing. Go cry in the grave. Go draw souls."

She smiled, and the lights flickered. The air turned cold, heavy like mourning.

"Stop your tricks, Natalie."

"Oh, I can't," she whispered, her voice echoing in layers. "It's what I am."

The scream hit before I could move, so high-pitched and ghostly, not loud, but it restrained me. My vision blurred. It felt like all my painful memories replayed: my mother's face, blood, and fire.

I dropped to my knees, covering my ears. "I don't bring harm to the people around me," I screamed.

Natalie walked closer, graceful, eyes shimmering with cruel delight. "They say banshees only cry for the dead, but I can sing for the living too. You, Alpha, smell like death."

I gritted my teeth, my wolf stirring.

"Don't listen. Break her song."

The air shook around me. "You must die," I growled.

Like lightning, I got up. My hand grew hairs and claws. I grabbed her violently by her throat mid-scream, slamming her into the mirrored wall. Cracks spidered behind her head.

Her eyes widened, voice breaking. "Let… go."

But now my eyes were red, and I slammed her again, blood spilling from her mouth.

She coughed, voice dimmed, and my grip on her throat tightened. I wanted to kill the scent of blood and make my body vibrate.

"The crier of death dying by my hand," my laughter filled the room.

I drew my other claw as I aimed for her neck, wanting to slice her open.

"Enough," a voice snapped.

The masked man appeared in the doorway again, watching with unreadable fascination.

I flung her, grabbed my bag, and walked out, not even sparing the masked man a glance.

What is this surge of power? It's been a long time since I felt this. I had to leave because I was running wild. Thankfully, he didn't stop me.

Atlas College—Later That Day.

The adrenaline hadn't faded. My claws still ached as I walked into Atlas College.

Atlas College looked the same. I hated the students, the air here, and everybody, but I had to fulfill my mom's dream of me going to school until she got better.

The student murmured, Not like it was something new to me.

"The blondie, didn't she vanish for weeks?"

" I heard she got entangled with Alpha Drey; she is such a whore," one hissed.

I turned to look at her, such a baby wolf. I'd take nothing to kill her.

Becky breathed…

I blame my ears for being able to pick every voice clearly, but I've had enough trouble for the day.

"Becky?"

The voice stopped me cold.

That familiar voice that I despised but still find soothing.

Alpha Drey.

He stood a few feet away, tall, in a casual outfit that radiated manliness. His presence filled the air like heat before a storm. The last person I wanted to see.

"Didn't think you'd come back," he said, stepping closer. "You look… different."

I swallowed the snarl building in my throat. "When you still live?"

His brows furrowed slightly. "How is your mom? Don't trust that masked man; I'm still finding out his identity."

"Stay away from me and my people," I hissed.

He paused, eyes searching mine. "Becky, I didn't."

"I said don't."

The hallway went quiet for a heartbeat.

"So you believed I had a hand in this?" he asked.

My pulse spiked. I forced a small smile that didn't reach my eyes. "What I think doesn't matter."

"It matters to me," he growled.

"Then that's your problem," I muttered.

He walked closer, trying to hold my hands

"Stay away from me, Drey."

He tilted his head; his gaze bored deep into me. "You're trembling."

"I'm trying not to kill you." I replied.

For a second, neither of us moved. The tension was thick enough to choke on. Then the bell rang. I heaved a sigh and walked past him, not looking back.

But I could feel his eyes on me all the way down the hall.

Masked man POV

"Nice, this is the wolf I've been looking for." "Can you see that raw power, doctor?" He laughed crazily.

"Finally I'll get what I want, and then I can have all the power in the world, me, nobody, controlling such a wolf."

"Everybody must bow to me."

"Sir, she has to agree, and this level 1 is really dangerous. Remember what happened with Natalie?" the doctor replied.

He snapped, "Why do you always object to me? I'll kill you very soon. Who's the boss?"

"I'm sorry, sir," the doctor replied.

"Always sorry, such a sorry human," he hissed. "Natalie failed because she's just a banshee. I was young and desperate to prove myself; that's why I took her in. She holds no importance anymore."

"Proceed we'd do the first time testing my weekend." He patted the doctor's shoulder and walked out.

He headed to where Natalie was receiving treatments. "She's so dumb to think she couldn't outsmart Becky; that's why I had to fight for her to win her trust." he muttered.

"I'm such a genius, no wonder the universe knows I'd be unstoppable as a werewolf," he muttered, praising himself.

He had just stepped into Natalie's room.

"You think you can control her?"Natalie's voice came weakly from the corner.

"Look at where that got you," he hissed. "I only need to hold her weakness to unleash her."

"From now on, if you cause any more trouble, I'll slice your throat and make sure you never use it again." He turned and walked out of the room.

Natalie bit her lips, restraining tears from falling from her eyes, because she had loved this man for years, yet he never put her in his eyes.

3 Days Later—Alpha Drey's Pack Territory

The wind carried gossip faster than the messenger wolves ever could.

"Did you hear?" one voice whispered.

"Alpha Drey nearly lost his life because of a human girl."

"A human?" another scoffed. "That's a curse waiting to happen."

By the fire pit, the older wolves huddled in low voices. "The Moon Council won't tolerate that kind of union. They'll call it betrayal."

A beta wolf approached cautiously. "It's not just that, sir. Some of our brothers have lost their shifting ability; is this not according to legends?" The elder frowned. "What?"

"They can't shift. At first, it was one or two. Now it's spreading. Fever, pain, and now they just… stay human."

Thunder rolled somewhere in the distance, though the sky was clear.

"No, we have to summon the goddess and find that girl and offer her as a sacrifice." Anita smirked behind the wall, eavesdropping. "Now Becky, I'd watch you die," she murmured.

At the same time, deep inside a mansion,

"Gabriel, how's the plan going for the weekend? We have to drive the werewolves out of Atlas City and regain power."

"Leave everything for me. We have a lot of wolfsbane, and our men are skilled in swordsmanship."

"We'd never go against the people of Atlas. If gunfights are against the rules, then we'd fight without weapons." Gabriel's lips curved up in a mocking smile.

"Make sure you kill that girl's mother finally," the boss added, walking out of the room.

The weekend smelled like trouble, a bloodbath, and a massacre.

While the two goddesses watched from above, to them these people were just pawns, and they wouldn't be bothered with fights like this.

"You're the reason they all die."

"Hello, who's there? Show yourself!" she screamed.

No more sound. She got up running when she saw piles of bodies and blood-stained floors "Let's burn her," they all cried.

"My mother! I must get to her," she cried.

They captured her as they poured fuel on her, about to light it.

Then the moon glowed red…
