After speaking, Nick Fury led Captain America into the elevator.
"To the Insight hangar," Nick Fury announced as he entered the elevator.
The elevator's display screen emitted a synthesized electronic voice after detecting Captain America's presence.
"Captain Rogers does not have security clearance for the Insight Project."
"Director override, Nicholas J. Fury," Nick Fury said, holding onto the railing of the old elevator.
"Confirmed," the electronic voice responded after hearing the command.
Upon confirming the command, the elevator began its descent with Nick Fury and Rogers.
The two on the elevator remained silent.
"You know, the elevators used to play music," Rogers said, leaning against the railing.
Nick Fury responded after hearing Rogers, "Yeah, my grandfather ran this thing for a solid forty years."
"His elevator was in a fancy building, and there were a lot of tips, so every night when he went home, his lunch bag was full of rolls of one-dollar bills."
"People were friendlier back then. He'd say hello, and they'd say hello back."
"As time went on, people weren't so friendly anymore. He'd say hello, and they'd tell him to get lost."
"From then on, my grandfather started gripping his lunch bag tighter on the way home, too."
"Did he get robbed?" Rogers asked, hearing Nick Fury's story.
Hearing Rogers' question, Nick Fury gave a cold snort and said, "Basically, every week some punks would ask him what was in the bag."
"What about him?" Rogers continued to ask.
"He'll open the bag for those punks. Inside, he'll have a dozen one-dollar bills, and a loaded pistol."
Nick Fury turned and looked out the glass elevator as he spoke. They had descended from the ground to the underground.
Looking outside, he continued, "My grandfather was kind, but he didn't completely trust people."
Rogers listened to Nick Fury and turned to look outside as well.
He widened his eyes involuntarily after turning around because the scene outside was beyond his imagination.
Outside the elevator was a massive underground factory. Countless lights illuminated the dim space, providing light for the enormous underground factory.
Three massive Helicarriers were parked in the vast underground factory, just like the one he was on during the Battle of New York.
Compared to the previous two, these three new ones had many differences in their design, including some improvements to the engine systems on both sides of the wings.
Countless cranes were busy on the planes and on the ground, placing Quinjets and various equipment facilities onto the Helicarrier.
Seeing Rogers stunned beside him, Nick Fury smiled nonchalantly: "I know, they're a lot bigger than a loaded pistol."
Then Nick Fury led Rogers out of the elevator and began to explain the Insight Project to him.
After listening to the Insight Project, Rogers still shook his head. He didn't agree with Nick Fury's views and the Insight Project. "What we should be guarding is people's freedom."
"What you're doing now is putting a gun to the foreheads of everyone in the world."
"This isn't freedom, it's fear."
Hearing Captain Rogers' rebuttal, Nick Fury also said in a low voice: "S.H.I.E.L.D.'s view of the world is realistic, not idealistic."
"You should be more aware of the times and stop always singing a different tune, Captain."
Neither of them agreed with the other, and Rogers eventually rode off on his motorcycle with his shield, leaving the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.
After Rogers left, Nick Fury didn't stay in the Insight Project hangar either. He took the elevator back to his office.
Back in his office, Nick Fury waited a moment before ordering the voice control system in the room, "Close the windows, seal the office."
With his command, the large floor-to-ceiling windows were immediately covered with black curtains, sealing off the entire office.
Once everything was ready, Nick Fury plugged the USB Drive that Black Widow had given him into the connector on the desk, then continued to order, "Open the Lemuria Star launch files."
"Access denied." The operating system quickly responded.
Hearing the system's prompt, Nick Fury was also stunned. He didn't expect to encounter such a situation.
He walked out from behind his desk and continued to issue orders while staring at the large screen in front of him, "Decrypt files."
"Decryption failed." This time, the operating system gave the same failed response after running for two seconds.
Nick Fury's expression became solemn. He slowly paced towards the screen while continuing to order, "Director override, Nicholas J. Fury."
"Override denied, all files sealed." The operating system still didn't give him what he wanted; this time, even his authority to override was useless.
Logically, as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury should have the highest authority over all S.H.I.E.L.D. files. However, this USB Drive obviously had some problems, which was why this situation had occurred.
Thinking about this, Nick Fury asked with some doubt, "Who authorized these?"
"Nicholas J. Fury." The operating system gave the answer according to the question.
After hearing this answer, Nick Fury's single eye couldn't help but widen.
Nick Fury couldn't rewrite the documents authorized by Nick Fury, and he didn't even know the contents of this document as the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
He realized the severity of the problem at this moment. Not only had Hydra spies infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D., but they also wanted to use the Insight Project to achieve their goals.
Nick Fury didn't know exactly how they did it, nor did he know what they ultimately wanted to achieve by using the Insight Project. He only knew that he had to postpone the implementation of the Insight Project, or it would definitely lead to some irreversible consequences.
Thinking of this, Nick Fury immediately went to the elevator again.
"World Security Council."
"Confirmed."
He had to go to the floor where the World Security Council was located to report this sudden situation to his former superior, the current World Security Council Minister - Alexander Pierce.
