Chapter 311 - Chapter 311: Kurtz Doesn't Know

Chapter 311: Kurtz Doesn't Know

On a path some distance from the northern battlefield, Kurtz and Serie walked side by side, their leisurely pace a stark contrast to the tense intelligence coming from the front lines.

They set off much later than Flamme, but showed no sign of rushing to catch up.

"At this rate, by the time we arrive, Flamme will probably have already dealt with most of what she wants to hide." Serie gazed into the distance and spoke calmly.

She naturally guessed that Flamme was hiding something from her, but unfortunately, Flamme was cautious, and Serie couldn't find any clues, not even in her room.

Serie even suspected that Flamme was planning to attack Kurtz again.

If that were the case, she would have to teach this arrogant and foolish apprentice a lesson she would never forget.

The last duel ended inconclusively because of Kurtz's interference; otherwise, Serie would have broken Flamme's leg to teach her the consequences of daring to steal her man.

On the other side, Kurtz, unaware of what Serie was thinking, casually picked a wild fruit from the roadside, wiped it on his clothes, and popped it into his mouth, looking relaxed.

"Indeed. Although we could teleport there directly, using teleportation magic for something like this would be making a mountain out of a molehill. Besides," he glanced at Serie, "don't you think it would be nice to stroll around slowly and enjoy the scenery?"

Serie glanced at him but did not refute him.

Throughout her long life, she spent most of her time studying magic, and the few times she went on trips, she was always with this man.

The last time I took a trip like this was purely aimless, but it was interrupted because of Frieren's situation. Now it's resumed.

However, Serie had to admit that with this person by her side, even the most ordinary scenery took on a different meaning.

Kurtz may appear casual, but he actually maintains his detection magic at all times, and actively gathers information from various sources when passing through villages or towns.

"There's still no movement from the Demon Queen's side. Her demons continue their frenzied attacks, but she herself has yet to appear on the battlefield."

This was information Kurtz learned from a group of soldiers who had retreated from the battlefield.

Although the fighting on the northern battlefield is becoming increasingly tense, fortunately, the strongest among the demons are those few beings at the level of the Seven Sages of the Seventh Rank. The mysterious and powerful Demon King has not yet appeared, so the allied forces are barely able to deal with him.

"Is she gathering strength? Or waiting for something?" Serie frowned slightly.

"Yes, what are we waiting for...?"

Kurtz had a vague feeling that the demon king was waiting for him. It was a feeling he couldn't quite explain, and he couldn't explain it to Serie.

"But in any case, her final fate is already sealed," Kurtz said confidently.

Serie was already used to, and even somewhat dependent on, his confidence, which stemmed from absolute strength.

Several days later, they arrived at a small town located at the foot of a valley.

After deciding to rest there for the night, Kurtz briefly spoke with Ayla and Frieren via communication magic to discuss matters concerning the Magic Association. A large association always needs someone to handle things. Although Ayla and Frieren are not even half as good as Flamme, Kurtz doesn't trust anyone else.

In the hotel room, Serie sat on a chair by the window, while not far away, Kurtz was setting up various barriers around the room.

"Regarding that Demon Queen," Serie spoke first, her golden eyes fixed on Kurtz, "what are your specific plans? How confident are you?"

It wasn't that she distrusted his power; it was that it concerned the survival of the world, and she wanted to know everything.

Kurtz sat down opposite her, making no attempt to hide anything: "I specially created a sealing spell for her. I plan to use all the holy swords I have collected to construct a super-large composite sealing magic circle to seal her within it completely."

Serie frowned immediately: "Just a seal? You should know that even the strongest seal is bound to loosen over time. If this sealing magic is broken by someone else a thousand or ten thousand years from now, the consequences will be unimaginable."

Her concerns are not unfounded; similar events have occurred in history.

Kurtz seemed to have anticipated her question. He leaned forward slightly, placed his hand on her head, and gently rubbed it: "Don't worry, it's not a simple seal."

"I will use the holy sword of the Southern Unified Empire as the core of the formation, permanently embedding it into the seal. Simultaneously, I will utilize the power of other holy swords to erode the Demon Queen's power continuously. This process may take thousands of years, or even longer, but one day, her power will be completely annihilated by the holy sword, leaving not even a trace behind."

Upon hearing the complete plan, Serie's tense expression relaxed, and she nodded, indicating, "Okay."

Then she paused, as if thinking of something, "Speaking of which, what exactly is Flamme plotting? Do you have any idea?"

She remembered that Kurtz had searched Carlo's room, and when she arrived, it was empty, with not a single useful clue. She then asked Kurtz if he had discovered anything, but the man said he hadn't.

Now, when faced with Serie's question again, Kurtz gives the same answer. "I don't know!"

"Really?" Serie stared intently at him.

"Absolutely."

"You're not hiding something from me, are you?" Serie was clearly not one to be easily fooled.

"How could that be?" Kurtz's smile remained unchanged.

"You promise?"

"I promise."

The two stared at each other for a while, but in the end, Serie was the first to give in.

"Fine, do whatever makes you happy. Anyway, Flamme only listens to you." Serie waved her hand dismissively.

Kurtz shook his head and smiled, a cryptic smile playing on his lips. "That child has her own ideas and path. No need to delve too deeply; let her handle it. If needed, she'll speak up."

Although Flamme concealed it very well, Kurtz discovered quite a bit of information from Carlo's side.

Whether it's the runes left over from the life magic or some plants left over from the other party's experiments during this period, they are all kept in the laboratory.

Although Carlo had taken or destroyed all the complete documents, Kurtz still managed to deduce the general outline of the matter from some clues.

A brief silence fell over them.

Needing to change the subject, Kurtz raised his head and asked, in a thoughtful tone, a question he had pondered countless times: "Serie, do you think...is it possible that we can find a way to solve the demon problem once and for all?"
