Chapter 302 - No Way Out
"I have to say, the magic Finn gave us is really useful. The only downside is that it can only be used once, and the monsters that are summoned are a bit disgusting."
Ariel muttered to herself, glancing at Flamme, who was temporarily held back by the monster, a hint of resentment flashing in her eyes.
Although the infiltration was discovered, fortunately, Carlo's seed has been planted, and the future is promising.
Now, it's time to go.
"Lady Flamme," Ariel Solitaire sneered, beginning to retreat, "we'll meet again! And please give my regards to that 'Kurtz'!"
Before leaving, Ariel Solitaire indulged in a bit of banter. Anyway, she could just hide and not come out. She didn't believe that the Godslayer could find her!
"You want to leave?! Not so easy!"
How could Flamme let this dangerous demon escape? Ignoring the harassment from the surrounding demons, she forcefully gathered her magic power and shot a beam of light like a javelin towards Ariel Solitaire, attempting to stop her escape.
However, Ariel Solitaire seemed to have been prepared. Facing the seemingly ordinary arrow of light, she released a magical shield that easily blocked it.
"Bye-bye!" In a few flashes, Ariel Solitaire's figure completely disappeared from Flamme's sight.
But she didn't notice the slight upturn at the corner of Flamme's mouth.
Flamme quickly and completely wiped out these monsters, but instead of immediately chasing after the direction in which Ariel Solitaire disappeared, Flamme stood still as if waiting for something.
Not long after, two figures appeared from the horizon and then descended to Flamme's side.
It was Ayla and Frieren. "Flamme, what happened?"
It turned out that when Flamme was sending Ariel Solitaire away, she had already informed Ayla and Frieren in advance, but she did not tell them the reason. She just told them to pay more attention to the situation on her side.
The battle between her and Ariel Solitaire had just taken notice of them, so they rushed over immediately.
"A demon has infiltrated the Magic Association!" Flamme said fiercely, her anger still simmering.
She quickly and succinctly recounted her battle with Ariel Solitaire and how Ariel Solitaire's demonic identity had been exposed to Ayla and Frieren.
"What?! There's actually such an arrogant guy?"
Even an elf like Ayla was furious when she learned that a demon had infiltrated the Magic Association.
In particular, she had met Ariel, the girl Flamme had mentioned several times, though they had never spoken.
"Did she use high-level disguise magic?" Frieren asked.
The fact that they could keep it from magicians of Flamme and Ayla's caliber for so long shows that their disguise magic was highly advanced.
If the other party changes their appearance and keeps hiding, things will get complicated.
"Yes, I've never seen this level of disguise magic before. Ordinary detection magic is completely useless," Flamme affirmed, then a triumphant smile played on her lips. "However, she can't escape!"
She raised her hand, and a wisp of magic from her fingertip, the same kind as the arrow of light she had just shot out in the battle, was emitting a faint glow, pointing in the direction where Ariel Solitaire had disappeared.
"I used tracking magic in my last attack. As long as she is within a certain range, I can roughly sense her location and distance. The reason I didn't chase after her immediately was because I was afraid she had accomplices, and I couldn't handle them alone."
Ayla's eyes lit up. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go after them!"
"Wait a minute," Frieren reminded them. Although she was young, she was clearly thinking more deeply. "The other party is a great demon. Such beings are under the command of the Demon King. We must be careful that they do not deliberately lure us into a trap."
After learning that the demons who attacked her village were demon generals under the Demon King, Frieren clearly had some connection to this powerful demon again.
After all, she never imagined that there would be such an unconventional great demon as Ariel Solitaire among the demon race.
Ayla nodded in agreement. "Frieren is right."
Although Flamme felt something was off, she also thought that Frieren's words made sense, and it was indeed good to be careful.
On the other side, Ayla couldn't wait any longer. With a flash, she turned into a blur and rushed in the direction indicated by Flamme.
Flamme and Frieren exchanged a glance and immediately followed.
The three-person team followed Flamme's direction, and Flamme sensed that Ariel was moving rapidly northwest.
"She's fleeing northwest, and she's moving very fast." Flamme relayed the message to Ayla ahead using a communication spell.
"Got it! I'll try to close the distance."
The tracking lasted for about half an hour.
The surrounding scenery grew increasingly desolate, with few trees, resembling a swampy landscape where many monsters lurked.
"Her movement speed has slowed down," Ayla messaged again.
"Be careful, the environment here is complex. I've detected quite a few monsters," Flamme warned.
Not long after, Ayla's voice came through with a hint of excitement. "Target spotted! She's stopped."
"Understood. Frieren and I will check the surroundings first to see if there are any hidden demons."
Instead of immediately joining Ayla in surrounding the swamp, Flamme and Frieren explored the area around the swamp to make sure there were no traps or anything like that before slowly approaching.
A moment later, the three of them silently arrived behind a boulder not far from Ariel Solitaire.
Ariel Solitaire had her back to them, seemingly checking a small, makeshift magic circle, and was unaware of their arrival.
The illusion surrounding her had stabilized again, and in the eyes of Ayla and Frieren, she was just an ordinary human mage.
Fortunately, Flamme had already mentioned that the other party was skilled in disguise magic, so they did not have any suspicion because of the other party's disguise.
Flamme made a gesture, and Ayla's magic began to flow around her, while Frieren slowly retreated, maintaining a safe distance from the others so that she could assist in the battle from the sidelines.
Then Flamme appeared from the front, blue magic gathering in her palm and locking onto Ariel Solitaire in the center of the altar.
"We meet again, Miss Ariel." Flamme's cold voice broke the silence of the swamp.
Ariel Solitaire froze abruptly and turned around immediately.
When she saw Flamme and the others in front of her, an expression of disbelief appeared on her face.
"You?!" she exclaimed, then immediately realized something, her gaze fixed on Flamme. "That attack?! What did you do?"
"Just a little tracking spell, of course, you've never heard of it before," Flamme sneered.
Teacher Kurtz created this magic, but it was not included in the spellbook. Only she and Ayla knew this magic. Even Frieren didn't learn it from them yet.
"Surrender and tell us your purpose, and you might suffer less," Flamme warned.
Ariel Solitaire's expression shifted rapidly. She hadn't expected to be tracked so precisely.
Looking at the three mages in front of her, especially the elf and Flamme, she felt immense pressure.
We definitely can't win a head-on fight, so we can only run away.
"Trying to catch me won't be that easy!" Ariel stomped her foot on the makeshift magic circle beneath her feet.
Buzz!
The magic circle instantly lit up with a blue light, and a chaotic spatial fluctuation began to ripple.
"She's trying to teleport by force! Stop her!" Ayla immediately took action without hesitation, her light arrow shooting out instantly, aimed directly at the core of the magic circle.
Flamme also made her move immediately, and Ariel Solitaire's idea of forcibly using teleportation magic in front of them was somewhat wishful thinking.
Boom!
The two attacks hit the magic circle almost simultaneously.
The fragile, makeshift magic circle was no match for the two's attacks and shattered instantly, sending violent energy turbulence that scattered and blew away all the surrounding rubble.
"Hateful brats!" Ariel Solitaire was both shocked and furious.
The teleportation plan had failed, and she was once again surrounded.
