Chapter 2 - The Frost King I

Thor Adam, or Thor as he was called, grew up strong, stronger than any other Asgardian ever. By the time he was 16, he was already physically stronger than his father, as long as he didn't use the Odin Force. The reason for this was that he wasn't following normal Asgardian growth rates. He was the amalgamation of Thor Odinson, a mix of Elder God and the All-Father, the soul from the Overvoid, Black Adam, and a small part of the Phoenix Force. Odin didn't realise the true reason for Thor's growth and attributed this to the fact that he was half-Elder God.

Odin ruled Asgard and the lands beyond, throughout all the 9 realms, with the wisdom and cunning he had traded his eye for. Compassion, on the other hand, was something he learned much later in his life and seemed to grow with Thor and the defeat of Laufey the Frost Giant. After he had returned to Asgard with the babe Thor, his wife Frigga wasn't happy about it, but she understood who she had married in the first place. To keep the peace, she was ready to raise the young Thor and, later on, the young Loki as well.

Odin's rule extended far and wide through the nine realms, forcing him to split his attention on many different matters and places at the same time. But he had help. A cabinet of trusted advisors aided him in governing the day-to-day affairs of Asgard, and a contingent of savvy warriors helped him keep the peace and protect his lands from outside threats. But there were some things that, occasionally, managed to escape even his gaze. Especially when it came to his family.

"And why do I have to lift Mjolnir again?" Thor asked

"Isn't it obvious? Don't you want to lift the legendary hammer and become the strongest warrior in Asgard?" Loki asked.

"Not really. I already am the strongest warrior if we leave Father. Why would I need Mjolnir in the first place?" Thor scratched his head.

...

Thor Adam naturally knew why Loki wanted him to grab Mjolnir. Loki had been adopted by Odin after Loki's Frost Giant father, Laufey, had been killed in battle. Odin developed a conscience after seeing the infant Loki and took him in, adopting him and making it seem as though Loki were his son. For all of their childhood, Loki was jealous of Thor. So much so that Loki's jealousy grew to hatred, resulting in a desire to kill Thor. Thus began Loki's enmity for Thor, which would last centuries.

Thor Adam, apart from having a ridiculously powerful soul, even more powerful than Odin or any other version of Thor across the Omniverse, had the divine empowerment from the six Egyptian deities - Shu, Horus, Amun, Zehuti, Aten and Mehen. When he collided with Black Adam, the divine empowerment Black Adam held was transferred to Thor, becoming his inherent power and no longer relying on the whims of the Egyptian gods.

This meant that he now held the Stamina of Shu, the Speed of Horus, the Strength of Amun, the Wisdom of Zehuti, the Power of Aten and the courage of Mehen. All of this was inherent to Thor now and grew alongside him.

With the wisdom of Zehuti, Thor understood what Loki was and why he acted the way he did. His jealousy was clear to him. Thor Adam tried to be friends and a good brother to Loki. He never bullied or ostracised him, always trying to find common ground. He observed Loki, saw his talent for magic, and chose to attend the same lectures as his mother, Frigga, and learn magic alongside Loki.

However...

Thanks to Black Adam's influence, Thor also gained his talent to use magic. So, he constantly outperformed Loki in that aspect as well, turning his adopted brother's jealousy up to a million. So, Thor constantly tried to appear weaker and less talented than physically possible. Sadly, Loki never believed him again, after figuring out what Thor was doing, widening the rift between them further.

Now, at 16, Thor Adam had stopped trying to be friendly with Loki and simply did his own thing. Saying that he was already the strongest warrior except their father was something Thor would have never done before, when he was still trying to get closer to Loki. But now that he no longer cared, he was honest about most things. He still kept a lot of secrets, as he knew Loki would try to harm him, so having multiple hidden cards up his sleeves was a very good idea.

...

Hearing Thor's words, Loki sneered.

"At least you stopped acting all pathetic and lying to me," Loki said.

"I wasn't trying to lie to you, Loki, and you know it. What I did, I did to try and find common ground with you. Your constant hateful gaze can be felt whenever I turn my back on you, and it's getting very annoying."

Loki stopped for a moment. Thor said those words with more heat than he intended. Having a constant dagger behind your back was getting on his nerves, but he couldn't talk to Odin about it. Odin, Thor was certain, knew all about it already, but chose to turn a blind eye to it. It would go on so far until Thor had to do something about it, and that wouldn't end well.

"Heh, look at you. Poor baby, bothered about your little brother~"

"Don't sass me, Loki. I'm not in the mood."

"Oh? What happened? Did Sif's new hair bother you that much?" Loki asked.

Loki had played a trick on Sif. He harboured a particularly venomous hatred towards the Lady Sif, believing her to be part of the reason he and his brother had drifted apart, not realising that he himself was the reason. He decided to take his anger out on her and slipped into her bedroom one night, cutting off her beautiful golden locks. She had been devastated when she woke up and cried in shame. Thor almost lost himself back then, but was stopped by Frigga, who asked him to be merciful to Loki. Loki always had a special spot in Frigga's heart, which was bigger than her spot for Thor. It didn't matter to him, but it was bothering him at that moment that she still stood up for him.

Still, Thor's anger scared Loki so much that he contacted two dwarven craftsmen, Brokk and Eitri, and asked them to create new hair for Sif. Loki was, however, unwilling to pay the dwarfs enough gold to create golden hair, which they asked for. So the dwarfs decided that "for the price of nought" they would make "strands of nought." The dwarfs created magical strands of hair from the very blackness of the night and handed them to Loki, who was outraged. Still, there was nothing he could do about it, and he presented the hair to Sif. The strands of darkness took root the moment they were placed on Sif's head, and then began to grow out.

Thor looked at Loki and then smirked, turning away without answering. But that bothered Loki further. Before he could do anything about it, though, Sif and Balder appeared.

"Hey, Thor! What are you doing?" Sif asked.

"Nothing. I was just telling Loki that I wasn't interested in lifting Mjolnir."

"Mjolnir? Oh, have you still not managed to lift it?" Balder asked innocently.

"Hehe, he hasn't even tried. Poor Thor doesn't think he's worthy," Loki quipped.

"Stop it, Loki. I already told you--"

"Come on, Thor. You're definitely worthy. I believe in you!" Sif said seriuosly.

"See, even Sif would like ot see you lift the hammer. You wouldn't want to disappoint your lady friend, would you, Thor?" Loki teased.

"I will disappoint people often in the future. Better to get them used to it early," Thor replied.

"Please, Thor. Do it! I want to see the mighty Mjolnir lifted and see what it can do."

"Don't push Thor, Sif. If he doesn't want to, then we can't force him."

*Sigh*

Thor was about to walk away when he felt a strong pull. He realised that something was going on and followed the feeling.

"Alright, let's do it. As long as it gets all of you off my back," he said as an excuse, and they walked to the trophy room, where Mjolnir was located.

As soon as they reached it, Thor moved to the platform where Mjolnir was located. He moved to touch it. Time seemed to slow down considerably, and as soon as he touched it, lightning struck out of nowhere, engulfing him.

"What you ask is dire, and I am loath to even consider it. But I already feel the coming frost. The fate of the world may well hinge upon his aid," Mamaragan, the Wizard Shazam, said to the three who had come to ask him for help.

Hippolyta, the Queen of Themyscira, Jon Haraldson, an immortal Viking Prince and an avatar of the Green had come together and asked the wizard for help. An immensely powerful threat had risen in the north and was threatening the entire world.

"I sent away my champion for the good of the world. Now I free him for the good of the world. Once I utter the magic word to open his tomb, I will be gone, and he will be your dilemma to solve. I wish you luck," Mamaragan said.

He pointed at the wall and said the magic word.

"SHAZAM!"

As soon as he finished the last letter, the wizard disappeared, and in his place a large bolt of lightning appeared, which revealed the figure of Thor Adam. But he wasn't in his youthful, 16-year-old form. He looked like a grown man, full of muscles and power.

"Teth-Adam, we have need of you. The world has need of you," the warrior queen said.

"What the--"

Before Thor could even finish his sentence, another pull suddenly affected him. He was hurled through the air, through the pyramid and then through the air, passing through the dimensional barrier and reaching into the mythical parts of Asgard. But he didn't stop there. He couldn't fathom what was going on, but a moment later, he collided, once again, with another figure.

This Universe's version of Thor Odinson.

Causality couldn't contain two Thors at the same time, and so, it did the only thing possible, fusing both of them into a new existence. All of this happened in a single moment, and then everything was already over. Thor looked around and realised that he was in another version of Asgard, a different Universe entirely and sighed even harder. He didn't realise that the 'careless hurl' of his soul through the Overvoid would result in this. Thankfully, everything fused with him perfectly, leaving him as he was, if a bit stronger.

He didn't wait for anyone to realise what might have happened and left Asgard, appearing in the physical world, above Greenland. He looked around, floating in the air for the first time. He looked like a grown version of himself, but with an outfit that was a mix between Black Adam and Asgardian armour. Faced with this chaotic, surreal moment, he took a deep breath, calming himself and reviewing all the new knowledge he had gained in record time.

After a moment, he remembered this story from the comics. 10th Century, Greenland... this was the moment the Frost King appeared, threatening the entire world. But he was a bit early, it seemed; the others were still making their way north from Egypt, where they had been a moment ago. So, Thor Adam decided to take his time and get a drink at a local settlement.

He managed to find one quickly and walked into the main hall, sitting down at a table, like a normal person. He looked around and noticed the silence that followed his entrance. Not wanting to intimidate everyone, he used magic to summon some gold coins. Then he realised that gold coins were useless to these people. So he conjured a large supply of metals they could use for farming or for protection.

"Excuse me, do you have some food for me?" he asked.

"Aye, that we do, stranger. What do you want?" the woman asked.

"Anything you have. With some strong mead, please."

"Alright, coming right up."

The local populace didn't seem to mind Thor Adam's arrival as much as he initially thought. The cold hardened them into men and women, so a stranger wasn't something they worried about. The Frost King was on everyone's mind right now, so survival was the most important thing.

.

The door opened, and Hippolyta and the Viking Prince arrived.

"Where is he?" Jon Haraldson asked.

"The stranger? He's over there," a local said and went back to his drink.

They saw Thor sitting surrounded by local women, laughing and eating without a worry in the world. They sighed and walked over.

"Black Adam, what are you doing here? Where have you been?" Jon asked.

"Oh, look who it is, the Viking and the warrior... princess?" he said as though he didn't already know.

"Queen," Hippolyta corrected.

"Ah, of course, Queen. Greetings to you two."

"Teth-Adam, we already told you that the world needed your help. And you just disappear and start drinking, and whoring around?" Jon asked.

"I wasn't whoring around at all. I was just eating and drinking. Besides, this is where you were going in the first place, right?" Thor said.

From the ground, a small plant grew through the stone cracks and turned into the avatar of Green. He turned to Thor and addressed him in a deep, serious tone.

"We must stop our squabbling and act in league. We need to be the warriors this world needs to face the dire winter that has been unleashed. Can you do that?" the avatar asked.

"Aye, my friend. I sure can."

"Jörd's champion speaks truly. The fate of the world hands upon what we do. We're intended to protect these people, not turn them into servants."

"I haven't done anything of the sort. I paid for my food. I'm a cultured barbarian after all."

"We have no time to argue. The Parliament of Trees weakens. Losing connection to the lands blighted by this endless blizzard. I fear... we may already be too late."
