The moment he stepped into view, the atmosphere of the entire audience shifted as if pulled by an invisible string.
Subei did not need to speak a single word nor move a single finger—his presence alone was enough to seize everyone's attention.
He was the unspoken dream lingering in the hearts of countless women. Handsome beyond comparison, he shone brighter than any star over the mountains, and with his arrival, the Star Forest War itself seemed to pivot around him.
The poets might have likened him to "a cloud drifting past, a jade shuttle gliding through the sky—light robes fluttering, aura divine." And yet, even those flowery descriptions seemed pale in comparison to the real thing.
For three seconds, the audience only saw his face—serene, confident, and exuding quiet dignity—and that was enough to outshine everything else.
Unknowingly, three days had already passed since Subei had been living inside the Black Dragon Abyss with Ziji and Biji.
In those three days, the two women had absorbed the dragon core and immortal herbs Subei had given them. Their strength had grown, but what truly changed was not only their power, but their very presence. Their beauty became sharper, more radiant, almost otherworldly.
Perhaps this was the nourishment of happiness—or the transformative effect of immortal herbs altering their destiny. Either way, the results were undeniable.
Yet, for Subei himself, the "harvest" was far greater… or perhaps far more exhausting.
Three nights ago, Ziji had boldly declared her desire to sleep with Subei. Biji immediately opposed the idea, worried that Ziji's wild, fiery temper would cause endless chaos for Subei. Ziji ended up holding back, too nervous to push further.
The next morning, though, Ziji took her chance. She led him to the stream to wash up, and when she saw his sleeping figure—so naturally attractive, so unguarded—she impulsively left a purple mark on his cheek and curled beside him for a stolen nap. Unfortunately, Biji caught her in the act and was none too pleased.
That night, Ziji's temper got the best of her. She quarreled openly with Biji and eventually pressured her way onto Subei's bed. Biji tried to persuade her otherwise, but Ziji was untamed—wild and unrestrained. She did what she wanted.
And for Biji, it was a painful contrast. For tens of thousands of years, she had been the kind and gentle Emerald Swan, saving countless lives, yet never finding a beast or man that made her heart truly stir. She had never once felt the wild pull of desire.
Until Subei, that is.
Even though he belonged to her Lord, she could not deny her heart. She once thought it was enough just to stay by his side and protect him quietly. That was her way of being satisfied.
But Ziji's boldness lit a fire in her chest. For the first time, she realized how much she had been holding herself back—how much regret she carried.
If even Ziji, daughter of fierce beasts, dared to chase her desires so openly… then why couldn't she?
That night, Biji shed her restrained green robes and lay with Ziji on either side of Subei.
If Ziji took one inch, she claimed one inch. If Ziji earned one point, she earned one point as well. And so, caught between two overwhelming forces of nature, poor Subei endured an "onslaught" from not one, but two goddesses of the soul beast world.
It was terrifying, it was exhausting… and yet, in its own indescribable way, it was heaven.
The system must have seen his suffering and decided to grant him mercy.
A mechanical voice rang in his mind:
"[Xiao Ai congratulates the host for completing the Male God Life Experience: Two Phoenixes Play Together!]"
And with that came new tasks—"Two Phoenixes Seize the Pearl," "Three Phoenixes Dance Across the Sky"… tasks Subei didn't even want to think about.
But along with the teasing titles came real rewards:
A third soul skill—summoning the Dragon of the Prison, a terrifying beast comparable to a ten-thousand-year soul beast.
A bottle of Shenbao tablets, capable of nourishing his essence and strengthening his body. (The system specifically noted it would increase his height… "Don't get the wrong idea!" it added cheekily.)
An upgrade to his Three Thousand Dead Soldiers—now able to grow stronger as he grew, with eventual abilities of rebirth once his spiritual power reached the level of Soul King.
At last, Subei's weary body and battered heart found some comfort. Without these rewards, who in their right mind would endure such "abuse"? This was grievance turned into fortune—a strange sort of balance.
Yet the war between Ziji and Biji was far from over.
Just yesterday, things had escalated further. In an unexpected move, Biji decided to "solve" the problem of Ziji by… hugging her to sleep. Hugging her so tightly that poor Subei, caught beside them, could hardly believe what he was seeing.
"This isn't just hitting people with a ball," he thought dumbly. "This is… bowling. No… worse than bowling. This is two watermelons colliding head-on!"
The result? Water spilled—the very definition of a disaster.
At the very least, Subei enjoyed the unusual peace of not being attacked for one night. And as much as he loved watching women fight—especially when they were fierce, breathtaking beauties like these—even he hadn't expected where it would lead next.
That night, Ziji seized the chance when Biji let her guard down. She caught Subei in the "middle" and… did something bold. Very bold.
The evidence was still there. When Subei glanced at his right hand, his index and middle fingers bore faint traces—a delicate wrinkle, shimmering droplets clinging as silent proof of that forbidden act.
The one who once hunted dragons… had become a dragon himself.
It was supposed to be a joke, but how cruelly it had become reality.
From this, the system bestowed yet another bizarre gift: Emotional Weather Cloud (Shura Field: Final Version 1.1).
Using it, Subei could summon storm clouds of emotion, rain down "emotional regulation," and alter the moods of everyone in an area.
Though he hadn't tried it yet, he couldn't deny the appearance sounded… incredible. To summon a storm with his flawless face, to stand under the rain as if heaven itself wept for or worshipped him—absolutely fatal charm.
"So handsome people would faint just looking," he muttered, half convinced, half appalled.
Shaking his head, Subei finally drew a long breath of relief. At least life in Black Dragon Abyss brought some twisted form of… stability.
On the lake's edge, he tapped Ziji playfully on the horn. "Alright, Ziji. Put me down."
She shifted back into human form, and Subei gently touched the water's surface, soul power supporting his steps as he walked across the lake with ease. Like some enigmatic young lord from a painting, his figure glided over the ripples.
But Emperor Tian—usually arrogant and unpredictable—found himself avoiding Subei's gaze entirely. His face burned with suppressed anger, his pride swallowed.
"My Lord…" he muttered through clenched teeth, too afraid to fully speak his frustrations.
Instead, he turned to the graceful figure at Subei's side. "Brigitte…" he called softly, almost pitifully.
Brigitte's eyes, however, were cold as she chastised him. "Emperor Tian, you nearly made a grave mistake."
"What mistake?!" he protested, wide-eyed. "The people from the Spirit Hall wanted to kill Titan Giant Ape and Sky Bull Python. Shouldn't I devour them first?!"
"Yes, that stubborn ape deserves punishment," Brigitte admitted. "But even fools like him still serve the Beast God."
Emperor Tian frowned, his jaw working in frustration. But then Brigitte's voice lowered further:
"And that woman—the one from Spirit Hall—she is the teacher of the King."
Emperor Tian froze. His expression shifted as if struck. "What do you mean? Just because she's his teacher, I can't touch her? What kind of logic is that?"
But his eyes betrayed his uncertainty. Slowly, against his pride, they turned toward Subei.
There in the distance stood Bibi Dong, her dark pupils glimmering with unshed tears—as if the entire battle, the entire forest itself, had come down to this moment of reckoning.
