Chapter 81 - The Dragoness’s Temptation

The Black Dragon Abyss.

Deep within Star Dou Forest, the valley split the earth like a wound, stretching a thousand meters down, sunlight never daring to pierce its black depths. Strange glowing fungi and bioluminescent insects painted dim color in the dark caverns. It was the breeding ground of true horrors.

Here, Zi Ji had brought him.

On a bed carved of dark agate, flawless as glass yet warm to the touch, Subei sat with tense shoulders, knees tucked close, a crimson shade across his cheeks.

Across from him, Zi Ji shed her outer cloak leisurely, letting it slip from one ivory shoulder. Beneath, her scaled skin gleamed violet under the faint glow, half-covered by exotic garments she had learned from humans—garments little more than accessories clinging to her curves.

A serpent's waist, thin yet impossibly supple. Legs bared past snowy thighs, long and perfect as sculpted jade. The swell of her chest, bound barely enough to tremble with every breath.

Zi Ji's eyes glimmered like twin poisonous amethysts.

She stepped barefoot onto the agate, her right leg arching just a handspan from his face, toes curled in playful provocation. "My King," she cooed, "why avert your gaze? Could it be… you are shy?"

Subei's throat bobbed. His heart pounded. Stay composed. Dust-like, dust-like… heroic, not lustful…

But he was still just a boy at heart, though unfairly kissed by Destiny with overwhelming good looks. Even he could not resist stealing glances from the corner of his eye—the graceful arc of her foot, the proud expanse of thigh, the shadowed mystery above.

A fire unbidden rose in his lungs.

He clenched his fists, whispering inwardly: She's testing me. This dragoness wants me to falter. If I lose here, I become the toy instead of King.

Zi Ji lowered herself cross-legged before him, taller even seated than he was standing. The scene drove another blade of heat through him.

For a long breath, they watched each other in silence.

Finally, Subei coughed lightly. "…Zi Ji. You saved me from Tang Hao. But restraint matters. There should be lines."

Zi Ji tilted her head, lips curving. "Lines? My dear King, between us, no such thing exists."

Her hand stretched like silken steel, slipping past his collar, sliding toward his chest.

Subei caught her wrist. "Enough."

Zi Ji's smile turned sultry. "So you do have a temper. I like it."

His patience frayed. With sudden boldness, he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers.

The dragoness's violet eyes widened for the first time—caught off guard—before narrowing in molten delight.

Subei pulled back a breath, his face composed in pride. "Remember, Zi Ji. I am not just a boy you cradle. I am your King."

He stood then, taller in posture, his aura lifting. From his palm, a dragon core shimmered—a polished orb of condensed draconic essence. He flicked it smoothly toward her—it tumbled once, then lodged squarely against the deep valley of her chest.

"You carried me from Tang Hao unscathed. This core is your reward. A gift to strengthen your bloodline."

Zi Ji's slender fingers caught the orb. Power hummed across her scales. Even she, the Demon Dragon King, had never savored a dragon core before—it was a once-in-ages treasure.

Her pulse raced. Did the Lord… give him this? Does he carry such treasures just so casually?

She eyed him anew, violet tongue flicking across her lip. This child… no, this King… is dangerous. Even so young, he dares act above me. So arrogant. So irresistible.

Slowly, she leaned close, hot breath brushing his ear.

"Do you remember," she whispered, "what I told you before? About becoming my fiancé?"

Subei stiffened. "Fiancé? Are you insane? If Gu Yuena learns you defy her, she will kill you without hesitation."

Zi Ji giggled, cruel and sweet. Her sharp teeth grazed his earlobe, making his breath hitch. "If I don't tell, and you don't tell… who will know?"

"There is a saying in the human world—youth cannot be wasted. Every strong man has a lover hidden in the shadows. Why should my King be any different?"

Her tongue flicked again; her scales glowed faintly with heat. Her entire presence was molten seduction.

Subei flushed crimson, biting through his stubborn pride. "Stop. I'm too young… I don't even understand what you mean. If you're asking me to be your 'underground lover' while still tied to the Dragon Lord, just know—I can't match you in strength." He managed a thin smirk. "…If you force me, I'll only end up crushed."

Zi Ji laughed, long and husky, her body practically draping him in violet shadow. "Then let me teach you, little King. Strength… can also grow from indulgence."

Her lips hovered a breath away.

In the depths of the Black Dragon Abyss, the echoes of her laugh mingled with the pounding heartbeat of the so-called King.

And for once… Subei did not know whether to yield, or resist.
