Chapter 18 - Skadi’s Brood 2

With a sound like cracking ice, the colossal creature shifted its weight. Floor

Shuddered as its legs dug deep into the snow, frost exploding outward with every step.

The snow rises into the air, placing the entire floor into a deep snowstorm, separating both Azrael and Olivia from each other while simultaneously blinding them to their surroundings.

"Just keep killing Az; I'll get to you eventually," Olivia said in a steady voice while trying to look through the snowstorm raging all around her, all while continuing to

slaughter spiders

"Roger that"

Getting her reply, she began to move through the snowstorm, slaughtering every spider that she came across while looking for the boss

It couldn't be that hard to find; after all, it was so big it was the first thing I saw when they reached this floor

But as much as she tried, she couldn't find it. She was stuck, looking at the endless snow in front of her, shifting like the air, shifting like a storm.

But Azreal wasn't so lucky because as soon as he replied to Olivia and went to kill some more spiders in the snowstorm, the first thing he saw was the boss, and before he could alert Olivia.

One of its sharp legs pierces his shoulder right through, drawing blood onto the snow. As it opened its mouth, its thick, purple, poisonous saliva started dripping onto his wounds, sizzling as it burned him.

Placing its mouth closer to him, its saliva kept dripping onto him

It opened its mouth once more, ready to take a big bite out of him, ready to pry his head off of his body. In one motion, he managed to get his spear to cut the thing right beside its eye.

Even this little cut was enough to distract the spider long enough for it to remove its leg from his body.

Releasing his shoulder that was pinning him down in the snow.

Quickly getting up, he ran into the spider's blind spot behind it, crawling up its body.

To be honest, he was more of a spider than it was; it was truly a shame.

But this did not go like last time. This time, with the alpha wolf as the spider quickly threw him off, caught him with one of its legs, piercing the same spot as before right through a massive hole in his shoulder.

It then swang him through the snow storm towards the rocky walls with the jagged Mana stones peaking out tearing up his back as he landed

But even away from the boss, he could not rest as more of the smaller spiders hearinghis Landing quickly run over aiming rip him apart piece by piece to feed to their mother

Before they could reach him he quickly got up holding his shoulder that was barely on his body dropping with his blood and the spider's poisonous saliva.

he began to fight every single one of them always listening out for the boss he knew she was coming for him She didn't know why, but she saw him as the perfect meal

But even during all of this even though It hurt even as he was actively losing his right arm the crazy bastard smiled

smiled as he slaughter spider after spider smiled even though the bosses poison was still working his way through his injury

because he would much rather die here then live any longer being a slave up above

And so he fought Increase in the gravity all around him, bringing his speaker down when I'm on the spiders crawling into aming to tear into his flesh.

Before he knew it, he had killed all of them surrounding him as the snowstorm came to an end.

but he couldn't even rest, because the first thing he saw as he looked up when the snow settled back onto the ground was the gigantic boss spider standing right in front of him, it's mouthwatering with poisonous saliva, each drip Sizzling as it touched the snow

But Before it could move it felt a stinging sensation on one of his legs Like poison was slowly getting injected into it, but that couldn't be possible. It had high resistance to poison.

The spider's hiss rattled through the chamber, sharp and metallic, like steel scraping against ice.

It staggered, one massive leg trembling beneath its weight.

A thin line of black blood trickled from a wound no bigger than a Swords slash, yet its body shivered as if it had been struck in the heart.

"Finally found you," Olivia's voice rang out through the fading storm, steady but laced with exhaustion she had clearly used most of her mana pouring the poison into it.

She stepped into view, her blade dripping with the same black blood she had just Drow from the beast's leg.

The snow clung to her hair and lashes, but her pink eyes burned bright as embers in the white void.

Azrael let out a sharp laugh, even as blood ran freely down his arm. "About damn time."

The spider shrieked, the sound loud enough to shake loose shards of ice from the ceiling.

Its eyes eight pits of glacial fire focused on Olivia, rage burning in their alien depths.

It reared back, legs snapping downward like scythes, but Olivia was already moving, darting across the ice with the grace of a phantom.

"Stay down, Az!" she barked, her sword flashing again as she carved through two of the broodlings that skittered to protect their queen.

Their bodies burst in sprays of ichor, freezing midair into black shards before hitting the ground.

Azrael, still pressing his ruined shoulder, only smirked. "Like hell I'm staying down." He scooped his spear back into his hand, dragging himself upright.

The poison in his veins burned, his arm screamed, but his eyes gleamed with the same madness as before.

Together, they advanced.

The boss spider shrieked again and lunged forward, fangs dripping venom thick enough to corrode stone.

Olivia dove beneath one snapping jaw, rolling to her feet and slashing upward. Her blade cut deep into the softer underbelly where the fur parted, ichor spilling in steaming gouts.

The stench of rot and frost filled the air.

Azrael didn't waste the opening. With a roar, he thrust his spear into one of the spider's eyes.

The orb burst like glass, spraying dark fluid across his chest. The spider convulsed violently, screeching so loud it rattled their bones.

But even wounded, it was far from finished.

It slammed its body against the cavern floor, sending both of them tumbling.

Frost spread in jagged veins across the stone, a wave of biting cold rushing outward. Dozens more broodlings poured from the shadows, answering their mother's call.

"Guess she's pissed," Azrael muttered, coughing blood as he dragged himself upright again.

Olivia tightened her grip on her blade, lips curling into a feral grin. "Good. Let's kill her while she's angry."
