Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Rescue Mission

Ral'jin was indeed a fox. When Leylin was negotiating with him, Ral'jin remained silent about the voodoo.

The cunning Ral'jin once believed that these rangers could only be used as bargaining chips to exchange with him, and that it was absolutely impossible to obtain a solution to the voodoo.

Time passed in a stalemate. Two hours later, the Grand Magister walked down from the second floor of the temple.

"Student, you can go to rest. Leave this cunning troll to me."

Leylin breathed a sigh of relief and walked straight out of the temple. He found an open lawn and lay down quietly. He didn't know how many brain cells he had killed just now dealing with this troll.

It was now late autumn, and the sunlight, with a suitable temperature, a leaf fell on Leylin's body. A wave of drowsiness began to creep into Leylin's mind.

Leylin lay on the meadow with his eyes open. He couldn't sleep, and his heart was still worried about his little sister.

There was a noise in the distant forest. It sounded like the sound of a nimble creature moving through the bushes. Thinking that Ral'jin was still inside the temple, Leylin became alert.

Leylin, no longer sleepy, began to prepare to cast a spell. It was not ruled out that trolls were invading the Sanctum of the Sun.

The footsteps on the ground became more and more frequent, and Leylin relaxed. It was the sound of a hawkstrider, probably an elf.

"Sylvanas?"

A female ranger elf dressed in a mix of green and gold ranger armor, holding a golden bow, jumped from the back of a hawkstrider.

The Ranger General's words were always concise and clear. After seeing Leylin, he asked, "You should know everything."

Leylin replied, "My sister's matter or the voodoo matter."

"Both, but with different focuses. Did the Grand Magister Belo'vir capture Ral'jin?" Sylvanas asked.

Leylin pointed in the direction of the temple and nodded, "Yes, this morning."

Sylvanas relaxed slightly and said, "A team from the Magisters raided the Amani Catacombs and discovered Vereesa and three other rangers gone."

Leylin wasn't surprised by this news. Ral'jin held a high position in the troll empire, and the warlord was confident that he would be aware of his value.

"That makes sense. My Vereesa and the other three rangers are the best means of exchanging for Ral'jin." Leylin's thoughts remained clear, his understanding of the matter unaffected by his sister's situation.

Sylvanas questioned Leylin's calmness. Wasn't my sister his beloved elf? How could he remain so calm even after her capture by the trolls?

The Ranger General's puzzled look made Leylin uncomfortable. "What are you thinking about?" Leylin asked.

"No, I'm just curious. Why did you remain so calm after my sister was captured?" Sylvanas asked.

Leylin replied simply, "Because I want to rescue Vereesa. Ral'jin is in me and my teacher's hands. I believe we can do it."

Looking at Sylvanas again, Leylin said, "I trust you're not looking for me. The Grand Magister and the troll witch doctor are inside the temple."

He led Sylvanas inside the Sanctum of the Sun, where the Grand Magister stared silently at the troll witch doctor across from him. The atmosphere was heavy and unsettling.

Sylvanas entered the temple and bowed to the Grand Magister. "Thank you, Grand Magister Belo'vir, for your assistance. The Windrunners thank you."

Ral'jin, still narrowing his eyes, sensed a hint of danger from the ranger. He wasn't afraid of the ranger, for she, too, captured a Windrunner.

"Grand Magister, could you please let me be alone with this troll for ten minutes?" Sylvanas pleaded.

Belo'vir glanced at Leylin and gestured, "Of course."

The Grand Magister and student went outside the temple, but before they had taken a few steps, the troll's wails pierced their ears.

After making a helpless gesture to each other, Leylin said, "I should have expected this outcome a long time ago. Rangers are not kind mages like us. Teacher, is Ral'jin willing to tell the solution to the voodoo?"

The Grand Magister nodded confidently, "Once my magic power is restored, I will be able to use the highest level of insight on him. Everything in his mind will be known to us."

Awkward. Since he has such a method, why did he let me negotiate with him? Leylin was speechless. There was no point in talking off on that stupid troll and wasted his brain cells.

"I know what you are thinking. There must be a reason why I asked you to do it," the Grand Magister reiterated.

Leylin had always benefited a lot from the teacher's approach. This time, Leylin was also thinking about what he had gained from the negotiation with Ral'jin.

"We have completed the capture mission. Next, we have the rescue mission and the purification mission." the grand magister said.

Both missions need to be carried out, but there are only the two of us, the teacher and the student. What should be done? Should we find help?

Leylin asked doubtfully, "Should we find help?"

Belo'vir smiled and said, "It's just you and me. Choose one: rescue mission or purification mission."

Without a second thought, he chose the rescue mission. Since his teacher had given him the choice, it meant he had the prospective to complete it.

"Wait until I explain this to Ranger General Windrunner. We'll leave tomorrow," the grand magister said, patting Leylin on the shoulder.

It was a gesture the teacher often used, one that instilled confidence in Leylin.

At night, Sylvanas did not leave Sanctum of the Sun. Grand Magister Belo'vir told Sylvanas about the remaining tasks. She was surprised but could only choose to believe it.

The Grand Magister always liked to take unconventional approaches, but it cannot be denied that they were very effective.

Outside the temple, there were only Leylin and Sylvanas.

"The rescue mission the Grand Magister gave you is hard for me to imagine," said Sylvanas.

Leylin didn't care: "Entering Zul'Aman and negotiating with the trolls. It does sound incredible." Leylin also understood why the teacher wanted him to communicate face to face with Ral'jin.

The teacher wanted him to understand what kind of creatures the trolls were. Because Leylin still had a mission after this, and the previous preparation would at least prevent him from being nervous about the next mission.

Sylvanas suddenly began to worry. Perhaps after tomorrow, she would not see the human in front of her again. The troll empire was not a place where one could enter and exit casually.

"You must be careful. I don't want my little sister to find you, a corpse, after being rescued." The Ranger General's tone was tender, and his cold face was replaced by a gentle expression.

"Remember the painting I gave you?" Leylin suddenly asked.

Sylvanas took the painting, still unopened. Sylvanas nodded, removed the painting from its magical wrapping, and slowly unfolded it.

"Smile like the one in this painting. They say a smile of a Goddess brings luck. Would you mind bringing me some good luck?" Leylin said with a smile.

He would be leaving for Zul'Aman tomorrow. Sylvanas knew he was alone with no rangers, only the two of them.

Shedding her Ranger General persona, Sylvanas smiled sweetly, like the figure in the painting. The dimples formed by her smile on her fair face were beautiful and charming. Sylvanas now looked even cuter and more well-behaved than my Vereesa.

"Thank you for your blessing."

"You must be careful." Sylvanas said, her brow furrowed in worry.

Leylin stood up, stretched his body, and said self-deprecatingly, "I never thought that as a low-level mage, I would be assigned such a mission. I am honored, so honored that I don't even have time to be afraid. Don't worry, little sister, I will definitely bring you back at the Sanctum of the Sun safely tomorrow."

Didn't he know what danger and fear were? Sylvanas saw the shadow of a mage in Leylin, the shadow of Belo'vir.
