Chapter 177 - Chapter 177: Skull Island’s King Kong

King Kong's furious roar shook the air, exploding in Hawk's ears.

Somehow—he understood the meaning behind it.

"Stay away from my home."

"Heh."

Hawk arched an eyebrow. His body blurred forward until he was nearly touching the Skull Island coastline.

Seeing Hawk advance instead of retreat made King Kong snap.

With another enraged bellow, the colossal ape tore two towering trees from the earth and hurled them like javelins.

Boom! Boom!

Once again, endless splinters rained down, blanketing the jungle below.

"ROAR! (Get out!)"

Hawk's eyes gleamed with mischief. He spread his arms wide and roared back, mimicking Kong's challenge.

"I'm not leaving!"

He still didn't understand the island's true nature—

But leaving? That wasn't an option.

Something he had long sought was here. He could feel it. The only question had been whether the risk was worth it.

Kong's arrival made the decision for him.

Hawk stepped fully onto Skull Island.

Instantly, the oppressive godlike aura crashed down.

But instead of resisting head-on, Hawk dialed down the Reality Stone's manifestation of his microcosmos.

If 100% was the full Silver Saint level—

He lowered it to about 50%.

The crushing aura immediately weakened. Still present, but no longer suffocating.

That would do.

Far off, Kong saw Hawk brazenly stride onto his land and roared in pure rage.

Boom!

The ape's massive foot shattered a hillock. His knees bent, and like a cannonball he launched skyward, both fists clenched together.

They came down like a mountain.

At the last instant, Hawk's fist shot upward, faster than sound.

Bang!

His punch slammed into Kong's chest.

The giant ape hurtled backward, crashing into a vast lake, sending waves exploding outward.

"Not bad."

Hawk exhaled in relief. With his power lowered, he'd been unsure. But if Kong was Skull Island's top-tier being—and he could send him flying—then Hawk's adjusted strength was also at that tier.

No need to worry.

He was about to turn away, planning to find Peter first, when a strangled bellow rose from the lake.

Not angry—desperate.

Hawk's head snapped back.

Kong thrashed in the water. From his half-submerged torso, countless spiny tentacles coiled, tightening, dragging him down.

The ape struggled, but the more he fought, the tighter they squeezed.

It was useless.

In an instant, Hawk flashed twice through the air, appearing before him.

A tentacle lashed up, whipping toward him.

Hawk's hand shot out, seizing it. His cosmos flared, and with a mighty heave, he hurled the beast from the depths.

The lake erupted.

A monstrous cephalopod burst free—thirty meters long, its barbed limbs writhing.

The Swamp Kraken of Skull Island.

Panicked at being dragged into open air, it severed the limb in Hawk's grasp, then clung tighter to Kong with the rest, trying not to be flung away.

Hawk's eyes hardened. His telekinesis became blades.

Slash! Slash! Slash!

Tentacle after tentacle was severed, until the last one snapped.

The Kraken slammed onto the shore with a wet, thunderous crash.

Kong roared, ripping the slimy remains from his body in disgust.

Then his gaze fixed on Hawk.

Hawk smiled faintly.

"I'm here to find someone. I won't be staying."

In his previous life, his favorite Ultraman was Tiga. His favorite monster? King Kong.

That was why he hadn't harmed the great ape.

After all—standing atop the Empire State Building, fighting aircraft—that was every man's dream.

And Kong had lived it.

The giant seemed to understand. Or maybe he simply acknowledged Hawk for saving him. After a few long seconds, Kong snorted and turned away.

He stomped to the Kraken, lifted one massive foot, and crushed its skull with a wet explosion of gore.

Then, gripping a severed tentacle, he hauled the carcass up, cast one last warning glance at Hawk, and lumbered into the deep canyon beyond.

Soon, his hulking form vanished into the shadows.

Hawk watched him go, then turned his eyes toward something else—a primitive village nestled in the distance.

And there, he felt it.

Peter.

A thought—and Hawk vanished, reappearing above the settlement.

Below, tribal warriors covered in strange markings clutched wooden weapons, standing guard around a stilt house.

When they spotted him, panic flashed. But then, the eldest among them—a man with a decorated staff—knelt.

One by one, the others followed, bowing and chanting in a strange tongue.

Hawk couldn't understand the words, but he knew the meaning.

They thought he was a god.

If only. Not yet.

He ignored them, scanning the village until his eyes locked on a woman standing at a doorway, staring up at him.

Her clothes were those of the locals. Mud streaked her face.

But appearances could deceive.

Her aura could not.

Hawk vanished again.

"Found you."

"Ah!"

Felicia gasped, her body twisting into a reflexive kick.

Hawk caught her leg gently, stopping the strike, then released her.

He wasn't that kind of man.

And more importantly—she was Peter's.

He chuckled.

"This isn't the CEO I remember."

"…!"

Realization dawned. Felicia's eyes lit with joy.

"Hawk!"

"That's me."

"Oh, thank God!" She threw her arms around him, voice trembling. "Peter said if anyone could find us, it'd be you!"

Hawk laughed, hugging her briefly before letting go.

She led him inside the small stilt house. It was simple, but tidy and warm.

Wiping at the mud on her face, she smiled.

"This is on purpose. Out here, these tribes aren't exactly civilized."

Hawk nodded.

"Understandable. Where's Peter?"

"He went hunting with the tribe."

"Hunting?"

Hawk blinked.

"You came in with a month's supplies."

Felicia froze.

"A month?"

"Hawk…"

"We've been living here for a year."
