Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: New Faces

As we see this girl, with bright orange hair in twin tails, about 5'3". "My name is Ayaka Sumi. My Aetherion is Echo Pulse, and my voice can create shockwaves." She just smiles as the class learns how to introduce themselves.

As Ishida introduces himself and sits down, "My name is Takumi Ishida, and my Fatum is Shadow Step." He just sits back down, and people now understand why he was sleeping.

Next, a girl with long dark brown hair tied in a braid, hazel eyes, slim figure (5'5"), wearing glasses, stands up. "My name is Haruka Minami. I am a dual user." You can hear some excitement in the class. "My Aetherion is Crimson Mind; it can heal myself and others, but the downside is when I heal others it hurts them a bit and a little of myself." People understand, and she continues, "My Fatum is Crystal Shaping. Think of my Fatum as trap-based kind of thing." She finishes and sits down.

Someone else speaks up. A short, spiky black-haired guy with broad shoulders, uniform jacket open, very muscular, about 5'11", stands. "My name is Daichi Kurogane. I am also a dual user." The class can agree why he is.

"Well, my Aetherion is Iron Skin. It hardens my body but makes me slow. My Fatum is Seismic Force; I can make shockwaves with my punches or stomps." The class is impressed. One of our classmates walks up to him.

"Hey, big guy." He looks down to see Ayaka Sumi. "Can you pick me up with your shoulder?" The class is silent, wondering his next move. "I can. Want me to?" She is shocked but says, "YES!" He picks her up. "I'M AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD! HAHAHAHA!"

After he puts her down, the next person stands. Shoulder-length wavy pink hair, green eyes, freckles, petite build (5'2") with ribbons in her uniform. "My name is Mei Kobayashi. I am also a dual user."

The class is surprised to have three dual users. "My Aetherion is Energy Overflow; it lets me absorb a lot of energy, but there's a risk of overload," she breathes. "My Fatum is Illusion Casting. It creates visual and auditory illusions, but I hope to get the smell included in the future." People are inspired by her determination.

"Alright, it's my turn." A guy with shaggy dark blue hair, droopy grey eyes, and a slim/slouchy build, around 5'9", speaks.

"My name is Riku Tanabe. I'm not a dual user, and I'm guessing most of you aren't either, right?" The class agrees. "I have a Fatum called Gravity Pocket. It creates a small field of heavy or light gravity." Some are confused.

He sighs. "If you're confused, think of it like this: the moon has light gravity, Jupiter has heavy gravity. The downside is it makes me sleepy, so if I sleep in class, it's because of my Fatum."

As people understand why he was sleeping, Ishida responds, "It just takes stamina, it doesn't make me sleepy." People start to understand his character: he's just lazy.

Next, a long silver-haired girl with pale skin, blue eyes, slim but tall build (5'8"), carrying a sketchbook, stands. "My Fatum is Paper Dance. It lets me control paper and turn it into blades or shields. I don't know if there's more I can do, but I hope to find out." She bows slightly before sitting down and returns to writing in her notebook.

Someone else calls out awkwardly, "M-my t-turn." A boy with messy brown hair, round glasses, small build (5'6"), looking worried, stands. "My name is Taro Inour, and I have a Fatum called Smoke Veil. It generates smoke clouds and can activate when I'm nervous."

A whisper comes next to him: "Here, this notebook calms you." He looks at her like an angel just helped him. "Th-thank you." He smiles warmly at her. "Cute," she says without anyone hearing.

Next, a short black-haired girl with sharp teal eyes, athletic build (5'7"), wearing sports shoes, stands confidently. "My name is Kana Fujimoto, and my Aetherion is Wind Runner. It boosts my speed and reflexes. Just so you know, in summer and at the end of the year, we'll run — if you don't, it means you're scared to lose to me."

Another voice interrupts: "Yeah right, I doubt that. I'll beat you." A wild red-haired boy with amber eyes, tan skin, and a scar across his nose, about 5'9", stands.

"Hey girl, just so you know, I'm going to beat you," he says. She responds, "Oh really? I don't know your name, mister mysterious."

"My name is Hayato Shindo. My Fatum is Fire Burst, it's a small burst of explosive flame. And like I said, I'm going to beat you."

She steps forward. "Alright, you have my respect, Hayato. But we're going to race till our legs break on the last day. Got it?" He shakes her hand. "Of course, but don't hold back on me."

Next, a girl with straight dark green hair, soft brown eyes, petite/slim build (5'3"), keeps her bangs long to partially hide her face. "My name is Yui Nakamura, and my Aetherion is Barrier Bloom. It generates a flower-shaped barrier." She sits down.

A boy with spiky brown hair with blonde streaks, hazel eyes, lanky build (5'8"), stands. "My name is Koji Matsuda, and my Fatum is Stretch Limbs. It lets me stretch my limbs." He shows off his Fatum.

A tall girl with jet black hair cut at chin length, piercing silver eyes, pale skin, slim build (5'11"), stands. "I'm Naomi Kisaragi. My Fatum is Frost Edge. It allows me to form ice blades and ice weapons."

Koji tries to speak to her. "Hey Naomi—" "Don't call me by my first name, only last name. Got it?" She sits down, serious. Koji walks back defeated.

Ayaka Sumi calls out: "Wait, we didn't get someone else." The class is confused. "Who?" Sumi points at me. "What about the guy next to Ishida?" I realize she's right.

I stand up, nervous. "My name is Amako Tairo, and my Aetherion is Crimson Rebirth." Someone comments, "That's a cool name for your Aetherion." I blush.

"Thanks. My Aetherion allows me to regenerate, but it causes me pain." Someone interrupts, "Wait, is it like mine, where you feel a little pain?" I shake my head. "Not fully, but from what I can tell, it makes me feel the pain I got from the person I fight. Imagine I fight a fire user and they hit me. When I heal, it feels like the fire is inside my body, but it heals fully, leaving no mark." Everyone looks shocked, and I try to reassure them.
