Chapter 14 - Prison Of Glass

Without hesitation, Kenneth activated his lightning power, and his Izigan tattoo began to glow. In a sudden flash, he appeared above the Void, blue lightning concentrated around his right arm.

The snow around him evaporated instantly, steam rising as the heat spread. Lightning crackled and followed the patterns that raced through the air around him like wild branches, glowing brightly as they lit up the place.

With lightning gathered in his palm and crackling through the air, Kenneth struck toward where the Void stood.

But the Void moved quickly, barely lifting his arm as he caught Kenneth mid-air, twisted him around, and slammed him hard into the ground. The impact created an explosion that shook the ground, sending snow flying and cracking the ice beneath them.

The Void stood to adjust but was sent flying as an unseen force dragged him through the snow, tearing up the ground and throwing ice shards into the air.

Ryan appeared above him in a flash, moving at blinding speed, and drove a powerful kick downward. The Void raised his arm just in time to block it, but the impact sent shockwaves across the area, cracking the frozen earth beneath them.

Without wasting a second, Ryan pulled his sword from its sheath strapped behind him. He infused it with his cosmic energy, and the blade lit up with a glowing red hue. Holding it downward, blade facing the ground, his energy surged through the air.

The Void sensed the change instantly. He stepped back, aware of the rising pressure.

Then, glowing red marks began to appear in the air around them, each shaped like an X, scattered in a wide radius. They shimmered like strokes of red blush paint but pulsed with deadly energy.

The Void moved fast, dodging left and right with incredible speed as each red X formed. Every time one touched the ground or surface, it exploded with devastating force, ripping through snow.

Snow filled the air, and a slight snow dust blurred the vision. Kenneth and Stella were both knocked out, leaving Ryan with the chance to use some of his hidden cards.

His iris began to glow red. Holding his sword tightly, he dashed forward from within the snow dust. With his body fully focused, he channeled all his energy into the sword and swung it toward the direction of the Void.

The slash released a straight line of destructive force, cutting through the snow. In its path, snow shot high into the air, mixed with red energy that crackled and burned through everything it touched.

He had thought he had him, but he felt the Void behind him.

'When did he?'

Before he had the chance to think any further, he was hit by a disastrous kick, packed with concentrated power.

The force behind it swept Ryan off his feet, hurling him through the air. He crashed into a pile of snow, skidding through it until he slammed hard against a rock, which shattered on impact.

'His powers are different. This is beyond us now. Any attempt for me to use my phase two powers, Terry's personal powers would pick it up,' Ryan thought.

Ryan's eyes locked on someone standing beside him, it was himself.

It was here again.

The part of him he'd been trying to hide… Cole Ryan.

He stood with his head slightly lowered, long black hair covering most of his face.

Only one eye showed, glowing red like that of a demon. A cold, strange smile formed on his lips as he stared at Ryan, silent and still.

Ryan almost fell into a trance but quickly snapped out of it. He stood up and used his sword to swing it away. The figure faded, turning into dust right in front of him.

He knew he would have to face that side of himself one day, but for now, there were more important things to deal with.

He looked at the glass he had placed in one of his pockets before the fight began.

His eyes narrowed, and he furrowed his brows, staring at it with full focus. His face was calm, but there was a hint of tension, like he was trying to figure something out.

"I will keep this first."

'I was right about him nearly reaching his limit, but with the powers he has, it is just a little above us.

His power is declining by the minute. I made him push it to its limit.'

Ryan went straight towards the Void, ignoring the pain in his right arm from the kick earlier.

The Void was closing in on both Kenneth and Stella, who were still unconscious. Ryan used his sword, and once again, a clean red sword flash attack met the Void, but he dodged before impact.

"I will use what I have left. You should be nearly at your limit."

Both the Void and Cole had some distance between them, but two of Ryan's clones suddenly appeared in front of Ryan.

Without wasting time, he moved forward while the clones swung their swords at the same time.

A red beam shot out, heading straight for the Void. The Void raised an invisible shield and blocked it, but right after, the two clones changed into red poles, one on each side of him.

From the poles, red chains shot out, wrapping tightly around him.

Both of his hands were pulled back and held firmly in place by the chains. Ryan didn't stop. He rushed in, his hand glowing with cosmic energy, and drove a solid punch straight into the Void's chest.

'It's a direct hit.'

In the process, Ryan didn't notice when the glass fell out of his pocket and landed in front of the Void, who was now on his knees.

The punch had done serious damage. Cracks started to show on the Void's chest, glowing faintly purple. They slowly spread, like broken glass.

The Void held the glass in front of him and looked carefully at it.

"HMM."

Ryan thought the Void was in a vulnerable state. He stepped in front of him, raised both hands, and pressed them together, forming a hand sign.

His fingers locked into place, steady and focused, the sign pointed directly at the Void as energy slowly gathered between his palms.

"This may not be strong enough to contain you, but it should hold you till we get to Sir David.

Construct reality: crimson cosmos "

He declared as a bright red light rushed out, moving to swallow the Void. But before it could reach him, the Void quickly threw the strange glass, once in Ryan's pocket, into the path of the attack.

The glass took in the light, holding it for a moment. Then, like a reflection, it shot the red light back at Ryan.

The energy hit him fast and swallowed him completely. It didn't stop there; it spread out and covered the others who were standing behind him.

In seconds, they all disappeared.

"To think that there would be an Izigan with such great battle intellect… I have underestimated their knowledge capacity."

A dark, uncanny voice slipped through as he held the glass in his hand, looking at it with interest.

"A clever tool they have. I shall proceed. There's no time left."

After some time, far into the snowy desert, Sir David left the cave holding his cup of coffee. He blew it with air from his mouth, hoping to cool it down before he started drinking.

He walked to and fro, shielded by the glass formation he had created, before he noticed something strange.

He touched the glass formation shield and saw the hidden cracks.

"Holy fuck."

His eyes widened, and his heart skipped a beat. He hoped he wasn't too late. He had to fix the glass formation. He quickly dropped his coffee and looked up, eyes scanning the cracks above. But then he felt it, something was off.

The air shifted.

He reached out and touched the glass formation again, but before he could do anything, a cold, dark voice echoed around him, breaking the silence.

"Hello."

"***"

"Seems we have a visitor. I wasn't expecting any."

Sir David replied, turning to look at the person. He knew it was him, but still, he held his composure, smiling at the Void like they had known each other.

"Pardon me. My visit was quite… sudden. It will be brief. You of all people would understand my situation. There is something I need that you may cherish, but I assure you I would be using it for a period of time."

"You are in need of a vessel, is that it? But I am afraid what you need is not in my possession," Sir David replied, holding his hands together, relaxed in the conversation.

The Void raised his hand to his lips, covering most of his face. He stayed like that for a moment, then slowly removed it.

He gave a deep sigh and quietly let out a bit of air from his lungs, watching it fade in the cold.

"I do not have time for this."

The Void moved with violent speed, his body leaving behind a smoke-like trail as he flashed through the air. In a blink, he was in front of Sir David, grabbing him by the neck and lifting him off the ground. Sir David struggled for a moment, then suddenly stopped and smiled.

The Void paused, confused by the calm look on his face.

Before he could react, Sir David's body shattered into sharp, piercing glass pieces that shot out in every direction, surrounding and trapping the Void from all sides.

Then, a few steps away, the real Sir David stepped out from the glass formation. What the Void didn't realize was that David had already switched himself with a glass clone the moment he touched the glass before their talk even began.

The glass was endless, spreading fast in all directions, rising like walls and closing in on the Void. Sharp edges formed with each new piece, stacking over one another like growing thorns.

Sir David stood firm, raised one hand, and made a hand sign. His cosmic energy radiated with a blue hue around his hand.

"This construct reality was made for your existence, the most powerful I have made. You will continue to see endless reflections of yourself, which will eat into your consciousness and leave you trapped in your body.

"Construct reality: infinite reflections"

From his hand, blue light flashed, and the Void disappeared into the abyss.
