"ROOOAR!"
An enraged roar echoed terrifyingly within the cave. It was furious.
The Rockhorn Triceradragon pawed the ground, lowered its head, aimed its three deadly horns at the intruders, and then charged like an out-of-control heavy tank! The earth trembled beneath its stampede.
"I'll take it!" Gatz roared, wanting to charge forward with his anchor.
"You can't block it," Silver said calmly, pulling him back. "Its impact force will send you and your anchor flying."
"Then what do we do?"
"Leave it to me." Rocks stepped forward, positioning himself in front of everyone.
Faced with the terrifying charge that could shatter a city wall, Rocks's expression was utterly calm. He didn't even bother to make a fist. Just as the Rockhorn Triceradragon was about to crash into him, Rocks slowly raised his right hand, opened his palm, and made a gentle pressing motion in the air.
VWOOM—
An invisible, distorting force instantly enveloped the space dozens of meters ahead. The charging Rockhorn Triceradragon slammed into it as if running into a viscous swamp, and its speed dropped dramatically. Its massive body, carried by immense inertia, was lifted off the ground, yet it was pinned in mid-air by an unseen force, unable to move. It let out a frustrated bellow, struggling frantically, but it couldn't budge the space around it an inch.
This was Rocks's ability, an unknown power, almost like his word was law.
"Alright, Head Chef," Rocks turned his head and grinned at Ren. "I didn't break this one. It's whole, fresh, and lively. How do you want to handle it?"
Gatz, Silver, and Dolum stared at the prehistoric beast struggling futilely in mid-air, then at the nonchalant Rocks. They all had the same thought: It's truly pitiful to be this monster's opponent.
Ren walked over, circling the immobilized Rockhorn Triceradragon, his eyes showing the focused satisfaction of a professional chef examining a top-tier ingredient. He reached out a finger and tapped lightly on the back of the dragon's neck. "Right here. The gap in the third cervical vertebra. It's the weakest point of the central nervous system."
Ren looked up at Silver. "Use your spear to pierce it precisely. It will sever its nerves instantly, allowing it to die without pain. That way, the meat won't turn sour from the struggle before death."
This was no longer combat; it was precision butchery.
Silver took a deep breath and nodded. He moved to the designated spot, concentrated all his energy into his spear, and thrust. The spear tip unerringly entered the tiny gap Ren had pointed out. The massive body of the Rockhorn Triceradragon stiffened for a moment and then went completely still. The light faded from its dark yellow eyes.
Rocks waved his hand, releasing his ability. The beast's corpse crashed to the ground. A thrilling hunt had ended in a manner that was almost an artistic performance.
When the Rocks Pirates dragged the huge Rockhorn Triceradragon back to the clearing, Dorry and Brogy had just emerged from the other side of the jungle. They bore the marks of battle, but their hands were empty.
"Kyahahaha! We searched the entire western mountain, didn't even see a dragon's shadow!" Brogy said dejectedly.
"Gahahaha! That thing is too good at hiding! It seems we lost this compe—" Dorry's words cut off abruptly.
Both giants' eyes were now fixed on the perfectly intact corpse of the Rockhorn Triceradragon at the feet of Rocks and his crew. Their huge mouths slowly fell open, wide enough to fit a barrel.
"You... you... you caught it?!"
"And... there's not a single scratch on it?"
They couldn't believe their eyes. They knew better than anyone how difficult this prehistoric beast was to handle. How on earth did these humans do it?
Rocks didn't bother to explain. He just laughed proudly. "Alright, enough talk. As we agreed, the most delicious part belongs to us. However..."
"Seeing as you two worked hard, my Head Chef is treating everyone tonight. He's going to show you what a true Feast of Giants is!"
"A Feast of Giants?" Dorry and Brogy's eyes lit up instantly.
What followed was a scene that completely overturned the two Elbaf warriors' understanding of cooking. Ren became the commander-in-chief of this feast. He directed the two giants, using their massive axe and sword, to perfectly butcher the Rockhorn Triceradragon. The hard spinal column was removed whole and used to build a giant grill rack. The fattiest belly meat was cut into huge, meter-long chunks. The hind leg meat was deboned and minced.
"Dorry, go near the volcano and find some volcanic rocks that have been heated by the earth's fire. I need them to have flat surfaces."
"Brogy, use your sword to split that largest ironwood tree. We need a huge pit for an earth oven."
"Gatz, go into the forest and collect a plant called Flame Flower; its nectar is a natural sweetener. Silver, find some Clearspring Fern; its shoots can cut through the richness. Dolum, bring all the spice barrels from the ship."
Ren's voice wasn't loud, but everyone heard him clearly and carried out his orders without complaint. The two giants, who had lived for over a hundred years, were now like two obedient schoolboys, following the eight-year-old's every command.
Soon, the clearing was a hive of activity. A huge pit was dug and lined with scorching volcanic rocks. Ren coated the massive dragon belly steaks with various spices and Flame Flower nectar, wrapped them in dozens of layers of giant banana leaves, carefully placed them in the pit, and then sealed it with earth, creating the most primitive version of "Beggar's Dragon."
On the giant bone grill, thick dragon steaks were laid out. With his back to the others, Ren once again used the Endless Spice Bottle, generating a composite spice powder of black pepper, cumin, and an unknown fragrant plant, which he sprinkled evenly over the steaks.
Tssssss—
Fat dripped onto the hot coals below, creating a delightful sizzle and waves of soul-stirringly rich aroma.
On the other side, in a large pot hastily carved from a giant stone, the dragon bones and some of the lesser cuts of meat were simmering. Ren added some fragrant mushrooms he had gathered along the way. Soon, a milky-white, rich broth was bubbling in the pot, its savory scent rising to the heavens.
When the earth oven was broken open, revealing the golden, glistening, and fragrant Beggar's Dragon; when the first steak, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, was sliced open; when the first bowl of milky-white, rich, and mellow bone broth was served...
Everyone went wild.
