Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: "Seeing" the Vision

In August, the weather was unbearably hot. By six in the morning, the sun was already dutifully at work.

Inside the rental room, Lin Xiaoyan opened her eyes, drenched in sweat.

"Hiss~~~"

Lin Xiaoyan covered her left eye, "Why does it hurt so much? I washed it with saline last night…"

Enduring the pain, she got up and walked to the mirror. When she let go of her hand, she saw that her left eye was red, as if it was bleeding.

"Oh no, it's so bad. Am I going to go blind?"

Lin Xiaoyan was so frightened that she closed her right eye, and as a result, she could only see a vague red shadow with her left eye.

"Oh no, oh no!" Lin Xiaoyan was so scared that she quickly packed her things and prepared to go to the hospital.

At this moment, she was full of regret, thinking she shouldn't have been afraid of the heat and taken a shortcut home yesterday afternoon.

This is great. Freshly graduated, she was hoping to find a job here, earn some money for a few years, and then go back home.

Now she hasn't even found a job, just doing part-time work every day, earning just enough to pay rent and living expenses, and now her eye has a problem. How much will a hospital visit cost…

Lin Xiaoyan, with a worried face, packed up, took her ID and phone, and went out.

As soon as she went out, Lin Xiaoyan hesitated. Should she bear with it? Maybe it would be better by tomorrow?

Lin Xiaoyan touched her eye, "Hiss, forget it, better to go to the hospital." It was too painful!

On the way, Lin Xiaoyan took leave from the manager. She didn't know what would happen after going to the hospital, so she took half a day off first.

At seven thirty in the morning, as it was summer vacation, there wasn't a large crowd of students being taken to school, but there was still a rush of people going to work.

Lin Xiaoyan held her phone tightly, and was squeezed onto the bus in the crowd.

"Sorry, excuse me, sorry… sorry…" Lin Xiaoyan had just steadied herself when a young man came from the front.

"Sorry, I need to get off at the next stop, please excuse me…" The man kept apologizing as he squeezed back.

When he reached Lin Xiaoyan, he accidentally brushed against her, and immediately apologized, "Sorry."

But Lin Xiaoyan didn't speak. She was somewhat dazed at the moment.

Because at the moment the man touched her, suddenly, a scene appeared before her eyes.

In the scene, this man got off at the next stop and was suddenly hit by someone speeding on an electric bike from behind.

And the man was knocked under the bus; the bus driver didn't notice the accident outside and drove off.

Finally, the scene froze on the man being run over by the bus, with people on the street crowding over…

"Screech… Lin Hai Road reached, passengers please…"

The stop arrived, and Lin Xiaoyan came back to her senses, instinctively looking towards the back door.

Then, she saw that man get off the bus first…

"Ah, watch out!"

"Bang"

"Screech… passengers please hold on tight, the next stop…"

The bus started again, while outside, people were yelling in terror.

"Stop! Stop!"

"Driver, stop, someone was bumped off the bus…"

At this moment, people inside the bus also saw the accident outside and immediately shouted loudly.

In the next second, Lin Xiaoyan distinctly felt the bus wheels run over something, and the whole bus jolted a bit.

"Ah!!! Someone got run over!!! Help!!!" people outside shouted loudly…

The driver stopped the bus, and then…

Lin Xiaoyan stood frozen, watching the scene outside. This… was exactly the same as what she had just "seen"...

Because of the accident, this bus couldn't continue, so Lin Xiaoyan and all the passengers had to get off and prepare to switch to another bus.

Lin Xiaoyan sat blankly at the bus stop, looking at a pool of blood on the ground, and then some sanitation workers came to clean it up…

"It must be an illusion…" Lin Xiaoyan kept thinking, her whole body cold, shivering uncontrollably.

She looked around, making sure it was broad daylight, with the sun shining its hardest.

"With such a big sun, ghosts shouldn't dare to come out… right!" Lin Xiaoyan comforted herself, trying hard to forget that scene just now.

It must be because she had watched too many movies lately. Nothing had happened just now; it must have been her mind imagining things, and it just happened to be an identical event…

"Yes! Exactly like that…" Lin Xiaoyan desperately comforted herself. She didn't dare think she had any superpower or anything like that; it was too scary; she was just an ordinary graduate, a working person!

Next, Lin Xiaoyan, beside herself, got on another bus in a daze, then looked around the people furtively. After that, she never "saw" any images even when someone accidentally touched her.

Lin Xiaoyan finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that it was indeed an illusion just now!

At the hospital, Lin Xiaoyan covered her eye and found the nurse's station. After inquiring where the ophthalmology department was, she immediately headed there.

No way around it, her eye was hurting more and more, and all her thoughts were on her eye at this point, extremely afraid she'd go blind.

"Hello, doctor." Lin Xiaoyan sat down nervously.

"What's the matter?" The doctor examining her was quite young and a bit handsome.

Lin Xiaoyan felt a bit shy, "Yesterday afternoon I passed by a construction site, and when a gust of wind blew, it blew lime from the ground into my eye."

Saying this, Lin Xiaoyan regretted taking the shortcut home yesterday once again!

"I bought some saline to wash it last night, and it didn't hurt then, but when I woke up this morning, my eye was very painful, incredibly red, like it's bleeding…"

"Open your eye and let me take a look," the doctor said gently.

Lin Xiaoyan let go of her hand and painfully opened her left eye, tears flowing uncontrollably.

The doctor took out a flashlight, shone it, and reached out to pull Lin Xiaoyan's eye open.

At this point, Lin Xiaoyan froze again…

Because, she once again "saw" some images.

In the image, the doctor who was examining her was attacked on his arm by a middle-aged man causing trouble in the hospital, wielding a knife…

"It's okay, relax, don't worry, your eye is fine. It's probably the lime corroding your cornea, and the saline didn't clean it well…"

Lin Xiaoyan glanced at the doctor's nametag on his coat, this doctor was named Yang Lin.

Doctor Yang thought Lin Xiaoyan was too tense about her eye, her whole body stiff, and face showing a fearful expression, so he gently reassured her.

This young girl looked like a college student, not very old.

"Lie down on the sickbed over there, I'll clean it for you, then I'll prescribe you two eye drops, use them morning and evening, and also take some anti-inflammatory medicine…"

"Oh, okay, thank you, Doctor Yang." Lin Xiaoyan's body was still a bit stiff, her head felt swollen now, not knowing what was happening.

Yang Lin finished the prescription and washed Lin Xiaoyan's eye, handling it gently, not hurting her at all.

And as the doctor cleaned her eye, Lin Xiaoyan was wrestling with herself internally, debating whether to tell this doctor that he would be attacked on the arm by a troublemaker.
