Chapter 68 - Canteen Meals Are Still Just Too All-Powerful

With the addition of the Fuel Drink, Andrew's dinner, which was already prepared and just waiting for drinks, was finally complete.

Andrew invited the two who helped him with the final step, the equally cheerful Caesar and Burnice:

"Coming at this time, you haven't had dinner yet, have you?"

Hearing this, Caesar suddenly remembered that she'd been busy interrogating the members of the Glutton Gang one by one with Kate and hadn't eaten yet. Instantly, her stomach growled with the aggrieved attitude of, "You finally remembered me."

The sound was so loud that all three of them heard it clearly. Caesar was instantly flustered. In her panic, she had no other choice but to press her hand firmly against her stomach.

But this didn't help at all; in fact, it made her stomach growl even louder.

Although the heroic and dashing Caesar was unexpectedly cute when she got shy, if they kept watching, she looked like she might just explode on the spot from embarrassment.

"Want to try the dinner I made? I won't disappoint you."

So Andrew held back his own barely-contained smile and, pretending he hadn't heard a thing, invited Caesar and Burnice inside to try his cooking.

Seeing that Andrew didn't seem to have noticed, Caesar let out a sigh of relief. Also pretending nothing had happened, she nodded and stepped inside.

Who knows if it was a miracle born from Caesar's sheer force, but the growling of her stomach finally stopped, causing Burnice—who had quietly taken out a megaphone behind Caesar's back at some point—to hang her head in disappointment.

Entering the dining room, Caesar saw the super-sized portions of food on the table. Their rugged appearance made her eyes light up instantly.

"Wow, Andrew, I never expected someone from New Eridu to make food with such an Outer Ring style! I thought all the food in New Eridu was the delicate, refined kind!"

Shared tastes in food always bring people closer. Involuntarily, Caesar's approval of Andrew grew even stronger.

"You say I'm from New Eridu... but I've actually only lived there for a few months."

Although Caesar never cared about the origins of friends she acknowledged, hearing that Andrew hadn't grown up in New Eridu couldn't help but increase her feeling of closeness.

As for Burnice, upon seeing that the accompanying drink was Fuel Drink, she had already eagerly taken a seat, just waiting to start eating.

The meal left Caesar completely satisfied. The generous portions, the delicious food, and the large chunks of meat were exactly to her liking, causing her to perform exceptionally well and finish off pretty much an entire Canteen Meal by herself. Considering the other girls usually split one portion between two people, this was an outstanding achievement.

However, for Andrew, this portion size was just average.

After coming to this world, because the energy in the food wasn't very substantial, Andrew's appetite had been getting bigger and bigger. An appetite that would have been satisfied with a single classic Master Rank Well-Done Steak Canteen Meal in the Monster Hunter world now required three full portions before he was content.

This appetite was so large that even Caesar couldn't help but be amazed.

"Wow Andrew, your appetite is even bigger than Big Boss's!"

"Big Boss?"

Andrew was puzzled, having never heard the name before.

Realizing Andrew was new to the Outer Ring and didn't know the situation, Caesar scratched her head and explained:

"Big Boss is the founder of the Sons of Calydon, and he's also my adoptive father. He retired recently, and I inherited this leadership position from him."

Caesar held great respect for her adoptive father, a man who had earned the universally recognized title of "Big Boss" throughout the entire Outer Ring.

"As a Boar-Thiren, his appetite is one of the biggest in the Outer Ring, and you've easily surpassed him!"

In a place like the Outer Ring, which generally lacked high culture, being able to eat a lot was basically a sign of physical strength. Therefore, having a big appetite was a purely positive trait, a view that Caesar, having grown up in the Outer Ring, naturally shared.

After chatting casually for a while, although she felt very relaxed and happy, Caesar couldn't shake a vague feeling that something was off.

'Did I just come here to eat? Why do I feel like I forgot something?'

Caesar couldn't help but scratch her head again, racking her brain.

My head is so itchy, it feels like I'm about to grow a brain.

Finally, Caesar remembered the reason she had rushed over without even eating. She slammed the table, stood up, and shouted:

"Ah! I remember now!"

For a moment, the air fell silent. Everyone subconsciously turned their gazes to Caesar.

After successfully making herself the center of attention, Caesar realized what she'd just done. She immediately scratched her head, laughed awkwardly, and sat back down.

Once she saw that not everyone was staring at her anymore, Caesar continued speaking to Andrew:

"Didn't we say this afternoon that we'd give you a copy of the intel we got from interrogating that group? After we got back, Big Boss and Kate spent the whole afternoon on it. I rushed right over as soon as I got the report."

Hearing how dedicated Caesar was to helping his friends, Andrew's favorable impression of her grew even more. He took the report from Caesar and began to read it seriously.

"Big Boss wrote the report. I was going to write it myself, but they said no one can understand my handwriting except me, so they shot down the idea."

In the report the girl handed over, there wasn't much information on the Glutton Gang. It just mentioned that they were a minor gang that had recently escaped from New Eridu, where they used to make a living by sneaking into ordinary residents' homes to loot their safes.

Three months ago, they learned that a man had appeared in New Eridu who was going around acting heroically, capturing criminals for bounty money.

Under the pressure of this man's existence, they felt that if things continued, their group would soon be caught. So, they secretly slipped out of New Eridu and came to the Outer Ring.

Last night, they accidentally discovered that the people occupying this place had fled, and they quickly had the wicked idea to take over the territory while no one was watching. In the end, their venture failed before it even began. Before they could even get inside, they ran into the rightful owners, the Sons of Calydon. Having just escaped, they would soon be sent back to New Eridu's Public Security to get a taste of prison food.

Although they themselves weren't a problem, another gang they mentioned was rather attention-grabbing.

It was a large gang called the Wolf Fang Gang. They made their living by collecting protection fees from the residents in their territory.

But for some reason, in the last two years, it was as if they had found a money tree somewhere. Their wealth had skyrocketed, and while their numbers kept increasing, their equipment was also getting more and more extravagant.
