Chapter 157 - Twin Tower (2)

After a long pause, he scowled, "Have you laughed enough?"

"Yeah." Sake chuckled and restrained her laughter. It was rare to see Gin so embarrassed, especially in the organization.

After all, many people were used to seeing Gin as a ruthless killing machine.

Gin just snorted and sneered, "Since Sherry hasn't come downstairs, there's no need to stay here any longer."

Gin put away his gun and prepared to leave.

"Wait a minute." Sake stopped Gin and aimed her sniper rifle towards the elevator.

"What do you want?" Gin frowned again. "Sherry isn't here."

"I know." Sake didn't even turn around, but observed the situation in the elevators of the Twin Towers across the way through her sniper scope.

At this moment, because Gin had pierced the elevator control panel, the elevator car was stuck in mid-air, stuck between the 44th and 45th floors. Everyone had already arrived at the top of the elevator through the emergency exit, returning to the building from the upper floors.

So, except for Conan, who was using his watch flashlight to illuminate the crowd, everyone else had successfully left and entered the building.

"Conan, give me your hand," Ran Mouri said, standing at the elevator entrance on the 45th floor.

"Okay, Ran-san." Conan breathed a sigh of relief at everyone's safe evacuation. Just as he was about to reach out his hand, he suddenly felt a bullet whizzing past his scalp and struck the wall in front of him.

Conan's pupils shrank as he stared at the bullet hole above his head

"Ah!" Everyone screamed in panic.

"Conan, give me your hand!" Ran Mouri said anxiously. "I'll pull you up."

"I'm fine, Ran-san." Conan felt cold sweat on his back and he looked at the distance, adjusting the magnification of his glasses again and spotting two people on the opposite floor.

To be more precise, they were two dark figures arguing.

Conan had no idea what they were talking about; he simply thought they looked like they were arguing.

'A chance.'

Since they were busy, they would not have any time to care about him. He didn't know why the other party targeted him, but he had to leave quickly. So he calmed Ran down and offered her his hand, letting her pull him up.

Finally, Conan was the last to exit the elevator and enter the safety of the building.

The 45th floor happened to have a connecting bridge leading to the annex building across the way. Once they crossed, they could descend from the annex and escape safely.

...

Meanwhile, Gin sneered sullenly, "Did you stay here just to shoot that brat's hair? I didn't know you even had a hobby of shaving other people's heads."

"Well, it looks good." Sake smiled brightly.

'That will be a lesson for that reckless brat.'

She actually liked Conan very much, but that brat often charged forward and always ended up in injuries. Even though it made the story fun, she felt that Conan should be more considerate of others.

Since she had entered this game… Sake hoped that Conan could be more careful.

This time, she was just giving him warning.

Gin: "..."

"Don't you know this brat? If Vermouth comes looking for you because of him, I won't help you."

Hearing Gin's words, Sake's eyes flickered slightly and she understood that Gin actually remembered Conan's appearance this time. But probably not much impression.

'But he knows that Vermouth attaches great importance to Conan.'

It's really interesting.

Sake had long realized that there were many intelligent people in the organization. After all, she had been dealing with them for such a long time.

But hearing what Gin said, she felt that Conan really needed to tone down himself a bit. If he keeps on appearing in front of Gin, he will realize that brat specialness.

Of course, Sake will not remind Gin specifically.

"Don't worry, I'm very measured." Sake shook her head and put her sniper rifle down. "I won't kill him and just have some fun with him."

Seeing the smile on Sake's face, Gin felt that the other party was sick.

He chose to ignore Sake and called Vodka. "How's it going? Have you seen anyone?"

"Brother, Sherry isn't here."

"I understand." Gin looked at the two connecting bridges between the Twin Towers, the Main Tower and the Fort Tower, and commanded with a menacing smile, "Blow up the bridges."

Gin hung up the phone after giving his orders and turned to Sake, asking, "I'm going back. Are you coming with me?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the connecting bridge on the 60th floor of the Twin Towers across from him roared loudly. The explosion sent it plummeting, crashing directly into the connecting bridge on the 45th floor below.

Thus, the two connecting bridges connecting the twin towers, the 60th and 45th floors, were both destroyed, and the towers were no longer connected.

Gin took one look and lost interest. This was just as he'd expected, no surprises.

"No, I'm going on my own." Sake has no interest in going back with Gin. She was being called over when she was doing something else.

Right now, she wanted nothing more than to rest than to watch the scene of the twin towers exploding. Hmm, Conan's movies are always filled with these things and very exciting for the viewer. But having to face these things in her life… Sake only wanted to say that it was not good for her heart.

Even her mission in the past three years before the mainline started didn't seem to be as interesting as Conan's movies.

Many of them were extremely boring and monotonous without any surprises.

*sigh*

"Up to you. Let's have a duel at another time."

"Eh." Sake nodded with disinterest and then walked away. If Gin's duel was to hit their opponent, then she was not that interested.

She was more interested in having the sniper guns aimed at each other.

Just like how she has been competing with no. 8 and Akai Shuichi so far. Unfortunately, Akai Shuichi had already faked his death.

Otherwise, it would have been more fun to fight with him.

Sake looked back at the Twin Tower in the distance after walking for some time in the area without a surveillance camera. She saw a helicopter descending from the top of the Twin Towers.

It was clearly the police trying to rescue those still trapped on the rooftop.

The main tower elevator was damaged, and a raging fire was burning from the 40th to 45th floors. It was impossible to extinguish it quickly.

The only two connecting bridges to the auxiliary towers had been destroyed, leaving no chance of escape. By now, all the remaining people trapped in the building would likely be fleeing to the rooftop. And now that the helicopters have been dispatched, it proves that people are indeed trapped.

If Sherry isn't among those who escaped, then the only ones left are those on the rooftop. Gin had planned this for so long, deliberately forcing the enemy to the rooftop. Naturally, he wouldn't just let the helicopter land safely for a rescue. Coincidentally, Vodka had already escaped the Twin Towers and arrived at Gin's car.

He said to the window, "Brother, I've confirmed that Sherry is definitely not among the people escaping."

Gin nodded. "Then let's proceed according to the plan and blow it up."

"Got it," Vodka replied.

Sake heard Gin and Vodka's words from the bug and then heard him clicking the detonator.

Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed through the sky, and the rooftop was ablaze with flames. The organization is really rich. Such a grand spectacle is simply burning through the budget.

'But Conan and the others should be safe right now.'

Sake clicked on the remote controller that she had, destroying the bug from the inside and letting it fall down on its own.

This was her masterpiece, one she had been working in almost all of her free time. It was very convenient.

Though, Sake had to say that she wasted a lot of time just to make a few of them.

…

Meanwhile, Conan, having returned to the Twin Towers to rescue the Junior Detectives, naturally discovered the timed bombs planted in the liquor cabinets and under the tables.

Conan had previously uncovered Mr. Kisaragi who killed Tokiwa Mio because the Twin Tower was built directly in front of Mount Fuji, splitting it in half, which he felt was an unforgivable sin, so he murdered everyone who had contributed to the skyscraper's construction, including Tokiwa Mio, and then committed suicide. But he was ultimately stopped by Conan, who used the anesthetic needle in his watch and was about to take him to the police. But now he faced a dilemma as all his escape routes were blocked.
