Chapter 43 - Megumi Aiko (2)

Matsuda Jinpei looked at Megumi Aiko and then laughed.

While Megumi Aiko's abilities as a police officer were indeed lacking, but she had the heart to protect the people and worked hard. Moreover, it was also true that her physical strength was indeed a bit too strong. This also meant that her speed was fast.

At that distance, she could definitely reach her opponent quickly.

"That's a good mentality."

"Tsk, don't laugh at me!"

Their relationship got better inexplicably. At least, Megumi Aiko didn't quite understand why.

But with Matsuda Jinpei around, it meant that she will have a sparring partner to fight. And the two of them also chatted about other things.

"It's up to you whether you want to take revenge or something, but you better have a life first before thinking about anything else. At the very least, I know that your friend wouldn't want to see you die just to avenge him," Megumi Aiko said seriously after she asked Matsuda Jinpei's reason for coming to the first division investigation.

Matsuda Jinpei stared in her direction after she said that, but because he was wearing black glasses, she couldn't really see his eyes, so she couldn't judge what he was thinking.

"You're not a bad police officer, surprisingly."

Megumi Aiko was sure that if this was a comic, a cross would have appeared on her forehead when she heard his words.

"What do you mean when you said that, you b*stard! Respect your senior more!"

"Huh? You're younger than me."

"But I've been in the investigation section longer than you, so you better call me senior obediently!"

"No way."

The two people nearly fought each other in the office before Inspector Megure called them for dispatch. Seeing the two people who almost fought directly, a tic tac toe pattern appeared on his forehead.

They had already fought on their first day working together.

So they were kicked out of the office after being scolded.

"AHH, I'm being scolded again." Megumi Aiko snorted and felt that it was not good for her to be with Matsuda Jinpei.

She will only end up with more scolding!

"It seems that you have gotten used to it." Matsuda Jinpei's tone contained a hint of ridicule.

"I'm not!"

Despite the fact that they fought directly with each other and kept on bickering, they surprisingly finished their work well.

The only troubles came when it was time to write the reports…

Neither liked writing it.

So they wanted to push the report to each other but ended up failing miserably. In the end, they had to be reprimanded before they unwillingly finished their report.

Sato Miwako couldn't help but laugh when she saw Megumi Aiko's loveless look.

"Come on, you can do it, Aiko."

"Senior Miwako." Megumi Aiko looked at Sato Miwako with her eyes glimmering.

"How about if I treat you today?"

"Yeah! You're the best, Senior!"

The other police officers were envious when they saw Megumi Aiko hugging Sato Miwako. But they also knew that these two were good friends.

And Megumi Aiko felt much better after drinking with Sato Miwako.

She went back home and started thinking about what to do.

The time is approaching and there's only 2 days left. But her brain was not good enough to think of any countermeasures.

Even though Matsuda Jinpei was really annoying, she didn't want to see him dead.

And the result of her daydreaming was that she got injured during the chase.

"You're really stupid! Did you drink too much yesterday?" Matsuda Jinpei dragged Megumi Aiko to the hospital.

Even though the injury was small in Megumi Aiko's opinion, Matsuda Jinpei still dragged her to the hospital.

In his words: it's better to check it rather than not.

Even though Megumi Aiko was reluctant at first, but when she noticed that this is the hospital where the bomb was placed, she changed her attitude.

Anyway, it was basically impossible for the bomber to plant it at the last minute.

He should have done it before.

The fax is tomorrow, so couldn't she stay here and try to check?

So Megumi Aiko ran around the hospital, trying to check the location of the bomb. Matsuda Jinpei, who was accompanying her, was almost thrown by himself.

"What are you doing in a place like this?" Matsuda Jinpei was speechless. "If the security guard noticed something wrong from the surveillance cameras, you'll be dragged back."

Megumi Aiko replied confidently, "I'm lost!"

Matsuda Jinpei: ???

He looked at Megumi Aiko speechlessly and was about to drag her away when he suddenly stopped. His eyebrows furrowed as he turned to look at one of the rooms.

He smelled gunpowder.

Having been in the bomb disposal unit for a long time, he was naturally familiar with this smell.

Matsuda Jinpei pushed the door open and following his instinct, he opened one of the cabinets.

What greeted him was the sight of bombs and the long timer.

"Call Inspector Megure. There's a bomb here."

"Yes!"

Megumi Aiko was both nervous and excited when she saw the bomb. She quickly informed Inspector Megure and they combed through the hospital.

The process of identifying the culprit took some time.

It was obvious that the surveillance cameras of the hospital was purposely broken in order to let them plant the bomb.

But Matsuda Jinpei still found the lead.

Megumi Aiko followed behind him and he originally didn't want her to be around.

Because it's really unnecessary.

He could do it himself.

It's just that Megumi Aiko was afraid of the plot killing Matsuda Jinpei that she became tough.

The two of them found the bomber and nearly got blown up.

However, the bomber was also caught.

When Matsuda Jinpei knew that this bomber was the one who was planning on bombing tomorrow… His expression was truly one of a kind.

Megumi Aiko took a picture and quarrelled with the embarrassed Matsuda Jinpei for a long time.

It was just that she refused to cooperate.

And with him having avenged his childhood friend, even though the method was not exactly what he was thinking of, he returned to the bomb disposal unit.

But looking at this female police officer who's both unreliable yet also reliable at certain times… he still kept in contact with the other party.

In the chats, Megumi Aiko explained how she quarreled with Matsuda Jinpei every few sentences which made others wonder how these two people could still keep their contact with each other after two years have passed.

Given by how they interacted with each other, they would not be surprised if either one of them had a heart attack all of the sudden.

If Kurokawa Saki had to say, she was not particularly interested in the Matsuda Jinpei story.

While these police officers are indeed amazing, there are many other unnamed police officers in the world who have sacrificed themselves heroically. Some remained unknown, some were only remembered by their close friends. This was something she knew extremely well after being an undercover agent for three whole years and travelled all around the world, meeting with many people who had worked hard. And waiting until the final moments when they know what would happen is stupid.

Kurokawa Saki was not in Japan either because she was sent away to do other missions. Besides, she didn't want to waste her time helping someone she didn't know when it was not convenient for her to do anything.

It would be better to hand it over to someone who's close by.

And no. 4 seems to be happy with her choice.

For Kurokawa Saki herself, these people are not someone who needed to be rescued. Even no. 4 also said something similar.

What they needed was for someone to warn them and give them enough information of what they were about to face. This was what no. 4 had done before. In this way, the two people worked together and successfully caught the bomber before the Ferris wheel arc.

It was actually quite satisfying to read.

Unfortunately, she was too busy with other businesses, so she couldn't be present in person.

And if it reached the Ferris wheel stage, Kurokawa Saki would manipulate the organisation order to save him if it was really necessary. But he'll have to turn into a ghost for a while and be exposed to the organisation matter. She was not particularly willing to do this if she had to be honest because it was too tiring to save people, especially if she was too far away.

She couldn't abandon her own task just to save someone when she's in a completely different country.

Unless it's someone she truly cared for.

In any case, the Tsuchikage Island matter finished quickly without no. 4 and no. 11 changing anything. They didn't remember the exact details of the case, this included Kurokawa Saki, so they only learned the details of the case once it was over.

Most of them didn't remember the cases that Conan experienced.

After all, who read the comic to remember all the side characters?

…Definitely not her.

Besides, her memory was not that good at that time and only increased after she came to this world.
