Roseline did not leave the restaurant immediately.
She remained seated long after Anna had walked away, her fingers resting lightly on the untouched cup of coffee in front of her. The surface had gone cold, just like the expression she now wore.
Her mind replayed every second of their conversation.
Every word.
Every reaction.
Or rather, the lack of it.
Anna had listened. She had not argued. She had not defended Daniel the way Roseline had expected her to.
She had simply… left.
Roseline frowned slightly.
She had told Anna that Norma despised them. That Norma was not someone she should trust. It had been the perfect opportunity for Anna to question her, to demand answers, to show doubt.
But she hadn't.
She had remained calm.
Quiet.
Controlled.
'Does she believe me… or not?' Roseline wondered.
She had not lied.
Not entirely.
