Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: A game of cards?

 5:30 am

The air was cold, which was not unusual since it was still very early, as the house was filled with silence to the point that one could feel physical discomfort, as you slowly listen you can hear it ... what should've been the first sign that life will never be the same.

what was that, slowly creeping in from the left side of the house, tiptoeing around …. It was lacy.

Lacy was a 5'7 woman in her early thirties, she has blue eyes that seem to glow in the dark which has a sharp contrast to her black hair, her eyes are the first thing you notice when you walk past her, the eyes are not unique to her but the colour intensity is something that can only be linked back to her.

"she looks way younger than her age", seems to be the only reply that men can grasp to say when they find out her age, some can say it's because of the hyper fixation that the society seems to have in the age of females, but to Lacy it is a complement she is always delighted to hear.

she cares a lot about her appearance, she does not let being married stop her from looking her best, after all she believes that if you can't take care of yourself then what's the point of showing your face.

she is clearly judgemental, as her facial expression doesn't hesitate to strike people down anytime she sees someone dress like they belong on a train station. She glares knives into people who she thinks can do better but they don't try to, which to her is worse than being ugly, because ugly people can't change the fact that they are like that since they were just unlucky.

Lacy always performs her role to the T.

she makes breakfast for her two children Stacy and Jeremy every morning around 5:30.

Stacey being seventeen has come to the conclusion that she doesn't like anything oil, and have started focusing on her appearance more than ever which has never made her mum prouder, while Jeremy has always cared about his appearance since he was little, they both inherited their mum's blue eyes and share similar personalities which you rarely see between twins. They don't feel the need to protect each other because they both know what they are capable of.

The family have this twisted definition of love, which is divided into various floors, floor one says, as long as they don't need to know, why let them. This isn't what love should be defined as, and definitely not what it should be perceived as, it is very dependent on the human nature ability to pretend that they don't see what is right in front of them, they are not mentally unaware of it or blatantly choose to ignore it, they are very capable to discern between right and wrong, but choose not to all in the name of infatuation, so I ask you this …. Will you be any different?

What you think are not connected but are linked to your thought process of that very day, you see things you are not sure are valid, you pretend that you know best but you are still dependent on someone who you believe was made for you, their validation is what makes you do everything, what makes you buy the drink you have no desire of buying, wear the shoes that makes you die inside little by little. Do you still believe you have no control whatsoever or are you trying to relinquish the power you have over yourself to someone who has no power over you but you pretend they do. (sigh…) as she closes her book… its currently 5:55 she said

She has already prepared their breakfast all that's left is for them to get ready for school…

By 6:15 the twins were down stairs all dressed up and ready for school, some can say that no one is up that early, but to Lacy you must never be late for anything ,she believes that people who think that coming late will make them feel superior or give them this air of classiness, just reveals their inadequacy and their lack of ability to follow simple rules, and that's what she imbibed to her kids early on, she really raised the perfect kids … or so she thought.
