Chapter 14 - Lamenting

Waking up with a sore throat, not even stretching anymore, Souzou was laying down, looking at the sky tiredly, he was still mad about yesterday, as he looked at the sky, he questioned himself.

"what am i doing?".

The area was filled with a pungent smell of dust, but ignoring it, Souzou was starting to overthink again.

Silence overshadowed the area, except only the sounds of wind whistling.

A melancholic atmosphere took over.

Stopping himself again, he tried to stand.

Souzou grunted as he stood, as the cold wind hit him, he shivered, his mind was in a constant headache, walking over to a tree, he sat under it and then he sighed.

Mindlessly his eyes trailed off to everything, then they focused at his clothes, they were painted with hues of brownish dirt and white dust.

A heavy breath left out of him, standing up, "i should have thought about it longer, i guess waiting instead is better then trying to make that sign, man this sucks", as he snapped his clothes.

Souzou was thinking about what to do while hitting softly at his clothes, "the sign might even take a week if this goes on", he thought, but his other choices was just waiting and living off fruits or travelling to search for help.

The shadows stretched, as the tree leaves seemed to be dancing.

It looked bleak, nothing was going the way he wanted, it all was just incoherent, way to weird, or way to scary to think about.

Souzou thought, condensing all the information in his brain, even after that, it still did not make a logical sense, after finishing his clothes cleaning, holding up his hands, he looked at them, his nails were full of dirt, his palm were painted brown, he still continued to think.

Souzou thought to himself "i should really go to the river", looking at the area of debris, the pile of debris sat there, though not that tall, it still was vastly different from it surroundings, then a idea struck Souzou, and he thought to himself "i could use marks to know where am at!"...

Still just standing there like a creep, Souzou wondered, wandered, he stopped, it was as clear as day, the river, he wanted to drink water so badly.

After his gathering of stones and fruits, Souzou marched forward, the figure still was out there, and Souzou was not going to think that it left him alone until it said so, maybe, he thought.

The plan was going, again, for the river, much more confident, though still wary of his surroundings, throwing a fruit into his mouth, hitting his face instead.

He momentarily paused.

Then picked up the fruit, the walk to the river resumed.

Walking for a while, here and there, Souzou built small rock towers, humming while doing so, the walk was the same as yesterday, but not as scary, a considerable amount of time then passed.

Souzou inhaled and exhaled tiredly, the river was right infront of him, he walked to it, crouching down, he held his hands in a cup shape, scooping large amount of water, he drank from the river once again, this time not even caring for any type of bacteria or germs.

After a bit, Souzou was done drinking from the river, he fell on his back, breathing heavily, Souzou yelled "THIS RIVER WATER TASTE BAD, HOW COULD I EVEN LIVE WITH THIS PLACE BEING SO FAR!?, I DONT EVEN HAVE ENOUGH TIME FOR THE SIGN!!", after all of that, the river continued to run down with it sounds of streaming water.

A thought crept up, where did the river water go to, where did it lead to, Souzou looked at it questioning, curious about it, he thought about going to explore it, "no i shouldn't, i was lucky i did not meet any animals today", retorting himself.

Souzou then thought to himself "hmmm, but maybe..", looking at the sun again, still beaming with no signs of leaving anytime soon, a dilemma hit Souzou.

Enamoring as it was, Souzou held himself, exploring blindly was not a easy task, also given that he already secured his water, food and a floor to sleep at, though only the food was the great part, it not like he needed something at this moment.

Souzou looked at the river, thinking of a plan, he could go everyday to drink water then back to building the sign, but tiredness was catching up to him in the next day, which just makes him more tired the next day after that.

"do i even have that many choices??, i think i can even count them on my fingers, seriously i feel like everything want me to die", thinking in his head, the frustration grew, Souzou then calmed himself down, he sighed.

Walking back, Souzou observed the roots, in his head, imagining a fruit under the roots, refocusing on his journey back, he stopped, and dug out the soil with a stone, then filled it with stones, he continued doing this multiple times, the ground now had signs of blue arrows.

Time passed.

And so, Souzou was digging through the soil again, he then put stones in it, standing up, turning his head to his back, the vast land of debris was there.

As he hummed while walking towards his cleared space, the sun was finally at it hottest.

Souzou stood in the space, looking at the paintings in the floor, it was interesting, the random shapes and lines, while in thought, he frowned in confusion.

"how old is this place?, wait, is this a language?, never mind, i don't care at this point", lamenting quietly in his head.

It was a weird situation, and still, he was lost.

Silence took over for some time as he stood, Souzou sighed, "i should stop sighing", he thought in his head.

Souzou thought to himself "should i even try to clear it?, well i guess i cant, even if i did try, hmm, wait i could just make the sign in an already cleared out space!", as he got excited for a second, he then thought of the daunting truth "its to far..".

Which was faster to do was another problem, he needed to get to the river everyday just to drink water, and that cut out to much time.

Not even counting the time needed to go back again to the debris.

Fruits could satiate him for a while, but if he gets to tired from doing his plan, he wont be able to go to the river.

It seemed in truth, the plan was going to take weeks to complete.

Souzou decided to not do anything today, to tired, disappointed, he walked meekly to a tree, hiding under it shade, eating fruits as he sat down, he sang and throwed stones.

After a while, he shouted, frustrated.

His voice sounded over the area, nothing responded.

Souzou sighed.

Lamenting.
