The morning of Halloween soon came, and Blake and the rest of his friends were getting ready to go to Hogsmeade.
"I've heard it's amazing," Tracey glowed. Charlotte and even Zabini and Greengrass echoed their agreement, and Blake couldn't help but feel excited too. He'd spent the last week plotting on how to access the information on the soul-splitting spell from Dumbledore. It would undoubtedly be in his office, but the old man most certainly had enchantments protecting it.
There's no way I can get it.
While they were walking, however, something caught Blake's attention.
"What's up, Harry?" Blake asked, looking at the boy's particularly morose expression.
"Hi, Blake," Harry said, trying to smile. "You guys off to Hogsmeade?" he asked, looking behind Blake at the rest of them.
"Yeah," Blake responded sympathetically, realising why Harry seemed to be in such a bad mood. "I'm guessing your relatives didn't sign?"
Harry nodded, and Blake sighed.
"Sorry to hear that, Harry - but on the bright side, maybe it's for the best. Y'know with Sirius Black and all."
"People keep on telling me that!" Harry burst suddenly, and Blake cursed himself for his lack of tact. "But you know better than anyone, Blake, I - we - literally faced Voldemort twice! And we beat him! I'm not scared of his little sidekick!"
Blake glanced back at his friends, who quickly looked away, pretending they'd not been listening in on the conversation.
"Yeah, but this is different, Harry. The man - well y'know what he did - I don't have to remind you, do I? It makes sense that people are worried for you."
"He's just as dangerous as any other Death Eater," Harry glared. "Like Malfoy's dad, or Crabbe's, or Goyle's -!"
"What are you talking about, Harry? None of those people specifically targeted you and your family last time!"
"Huh?" Harry said, his anger replaced with confusion. "What d'you mean?"
"What? I'm talking about Black!"
"What about Black? What d'you mean, he targeted my family?"
Blake shared Harry's confusion for a moment, before realisation and pity dawned on him. He doesn't know the full truth - he doesn't know Black's connection to him.
Blake looked back at his friends, and then again at Harry. He really did want to go to Hogsmeade… but there's other times I can go to Hogsmeade. Right now, if no one else has been honest with Harry, I should be. He's my friend.
"You guys go on ahead," he told Charlotte, Tracey, Zabini and Greengrass. "I need to talk to Harry about something."
"What? Why-" Tracey started, before Zabini dragged her by the hand away.
"Suit yourself," he called as he walked out. "I'm not getting you anything."
Blake turned back to Harry with a grin that melted as soon as he saw the still confused expression on his face, and sighed.
"Come on, Harry," he said. "Let's go for a walk."

"Why did no one tell me this?" Harry said quietly after minutes of silence.
"They probably didn't want you to stress," Blake responded, equally quiet. "Telling most 13 year old kids that their father's best friend probably betrayed them would be too much to handle - but I guess you're not most 13 year old kids, are you?" he finished with a dry laugh.
Harry's fists balled as he clenched his teeth in anger.
"I'm gonna-"
"Do what, Harry?" Blake stopped him immediately. "Get revenge?"
"He betrayed my parents!" he shouted.
"I know."
"So why wouldn't I get revenge? And don't give me that 'be the bigger person' bullsh*t!"
"Because you'll die, Harry."
"We defeated Voldemort, and the Basilisk-"
"With extreme, extreme luck, Harry! Don't kid yourself! We got lucky that Voldemort burned at your touch in the first year, and we had Greengrass's potions to help! And in the second year, I made a lucky guess to find out everything! We're not strong - we're lucky. Sirius Black isn't half ghost, or a stupid snake - he's the man that fooled everyone, including your parents and Dumbledore for years! He was an Auror too! There's no way in hell you could take him - you're 13 for God's sake!"
Harry was silent for a second.
"I'm not saying don't get revenge, Harry. You know me - if I was in your position, I'd be planning already. But I'd be planning for well into the future. I'm not strong enough to defeat an adult Auror in combat yet - but I'd damn well make sure I am as soon as possible!"
Harry looked at him, listening.
"So you're saying I should plan my revenge?"
"Yes," Blake nodded. "Your parents didn't die protecting you so you could waste your life, Harry."
Just as Harry was about to respond, however, Blake stiffened.
"Wait," he said, taking out his wand. "Someone's here."
Harry immediately took out his wand, and the two boys stood in the middle of the empty corridor, ready. There was an obvious guess as to who the imposter was. Sirius Black.
"Homeo-"
"Wait!" a familiar voice called, chuckling slightly.
From behind the pillar, the intruder revealed themself, and Harry's shoulder sagged as he dropped his wand hand.
"Oh, it's just you, Professor," he said, relieved, as the shaggy and shabby Lupin made his way over to them. Blake lowered his wand slightly too, but didn't dare lower his guard. Why was he spying on us?
"Apologies, Blake and Harry," the kind professor said, sounding embarrassed. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I overheard your conversation, and I found myself quite intrigued. I have to say, Blake, you are quite a mature young man, aren't you?"
Blake thanked Lupin as normal, but he was still weary. He's a werewolf - the full moon's next week, isn't it? He should be taking his potions around about now.
Suddenly, an idea came to mind - a twisted, immoral idea, but an idea nonetheless. Blake shuddered slightly, already feeling guilty. But I need to know how Voldemort did it. Lupin will understand later, won't he?
"I have a joke, Professor," Blake said suddenly, interrupting Harry and Lupin's conversation about why the latter didn't let the former face the Boggart.
"Um… Go ahead, Blake," Lupin said, slightly confused.
"What do you get when a werewolf and a bee have a wedding?"
